Saints vs Chelsea Match & Reactions Thread
saintbob40 replied to Saint-Armstrong's topic in The Saints
JWP and Davis at CM. I am surprised it wasn't 10 as they are useless without the ball and were constantly too far advanced leaving the defence exposed . Get Cork back at CM with Morgan pronto! -
....good call...or even Robert Green perhaps? Two of the three are not good enough and the other may be but then again he also may be a certifiable lunatic so highly risky. This decision could be the difference between staying up and going down.

After I got back from the game I watched the game on Sky (being the weirdo I am). I noticed Boruc seemed to spend a lot of time talking to/shouting at himself. I think he may be as daft as a box of kittens with mental issues. + he looks like he should have a set of darts and a pint in his hand. Therefore, all the makings of a cult hero who will take us away from the drop zone.... Actually, no buy Butland quick.......

Not as part of a second string......give the lad a rest and have him ready to **** Villa.

Just looking on their message board "the Oatcake" on their take of the Cork incident. Some very funny posts. Perhaps we could trade a number of the dull, hectoring, witless tosspots who post on this board in the January transfer window and bring in a few of these low IQ clay heads to add some humour to this board.

I think a battling point at Stoke clearly answers this question.

Last of the samurai.........

Nice to hear from those who were there rather than from the angry pussy whipped erectile disfunctioning set of middle aged tosspots who spout their usual bile on this site. A very good point earned by a team who are working their nuts off at the moment.

The problem was with Lambert, Ramirez and Mayuka. Neither Ramirez or Mayuka could play with their back to goal and hold the ball up. Mayuka's touch was appalling and he offered no width. Ramirez also wants far too long on the ball and needs to adjust to the pace of the English game. Just like Liverpool away SRL was ineffectual and he was struggling with Cueller all the way through. Mind you the straight balls directly to him out of defence towards the end were a complete waste of time. That said the defensive unit (back four + Cork/Morgan) it starting to look very solid and they didn't really get a sniff but for the goal. I would be tempted to bring in Guly for his workrate(yes..... really)on the left and play either Jay or Ramirez off SRL at Fulham. A draw would have been a fair result.

So we have those on the forum who think that the team that lost 6-1 to Arsenal and 4-1 to West Ham, and lest we forget 2-0 to Wigan at home would have faired better than the one with Cork and Shaw in it. ....care in the community is all well and good but there is a lot to be said for a old Victorian solid brick built asylum where you can't hear the screams.
-
Cork all the way. Whilst Shaw is very, very impressive he can only have limited impact at left back whilst a great deal of our play goes through Cork. It is the filling of gaps when the full backs go forward, the closing down of space when we dont have the ball, the ball retention (5 yard pass here or there) and continuity play generally that have made a huge difference. Remember how naively open we were at the start of the season when either or both of JWP and SD were partnering Morgan. Cork is our Makele and plays in a position that is not glamorous. No doubt he will slip out of most fans consciousness once again as he did last year as our fans drool over Adam's skills or SRLs goals, but in his own quietly effective way Cork is IMHO the most important player in the team.

What's the biggest factor in our recent turn around?
saintbob40 replied to Cheam Saint's topic in The Saints
Cork coming back clearly is the key. Scoring goals has not been the problem (although most fans, as ever, pay more attention to what we do with the ball rather than what we do without it). The fact that JWP and SD are not defensively minded midfielders has been the problem. In that regard we need to buy/loan a third holding midfielder as cover in January as I now see JWP and SD as being back up for the 3 in the 4-2-3-1 formation which works best for us. -
Statues are for dead people surely? Will it have a big read nose and a frantically chewing gum feature?

Anyone who watched that game on sky could lip read what was said -I know I did. Bottom line is Terry is.... IMHO.... a wrong' un (as he had proved time and time again) but for those who are on the Richard Keys, Andy Gray, Ron Atkinson, Rodney Marsh side of the equation good luck to you.....but society is moving on at a pace and you may well be left behind old and bewildered or is that older and more bewildered.
-
Yes, because it could not be proved beyond all reasonable doubt (criminal burden of proof)despite the judge in the trial expressing reservations as to the testimony given on Terry's behalf. Terry did however lose the FA disciplinary because on a balance of probablities (the civil and lower burden of proof) he was found to have a case to answer. As for Anton Ferdinand he has done nothing wrong and is an innocent victim in all this(+he scored a good goal for us on Saturday so he can't be all that bad).

there was an interesting thread on Cork playing as a CB the other week where some of the larger "characters" on this board were quite happy to slag him off generally. I was quite happy to point out that they were clueless ****wits who knew the square root of **** all about football. Now everyone is on the Cork bandwagon apparently albeit some with a graduated climb down. As posted previously Gazzaniga is not good enough and Kelvin needs to return. We may need to buy a keeper during the next transfer window.
-
I don't rate Gazza and he does not inspire me with confidence. I have seen great redwoods fall quicker than he did for that goal and that for me is more disturbing than the distribution error itself. Cork was excellent and will only get better. I noticed the stats in the Sunday papers had him and Morgan neck and neck on distance covered. Perhaps he looked tired because he tried hard....just a thought. It's the ones without a bead of sweat after 60 minutes that you should be more worried about.

A nicely wieghted pass to feet is not usually viewed as a bad one. Ridiculous post..........

Pie munching tosspots.

He was outstanding v Sheff Wednesday before he did his knee. He ran the midfield in a game we won to nil and carried a lightweight JWP who kept giving the ball away. I wonder what some people are watching at times.
-
Davis out and Cork in-problem solved.
-
Problem is that the rules are now made by cvnts and most refs are also cvnts and the FA disciplinary panel are a set of complete cvnts. I think we need to get really, really sneaky cvnts therefore.
-
Couldn't agree more. Cortese and Adkins have dismantled the team that got them into the premiership far too quickly and without any regard for team spirit. Hammond and Sharp bounced out, Kelvin and Richardson dropped and Fox undermined and given the clear signal that come xmas he is toast. The Saints team that played last night would have lost 4-0 to the best Saints team of last year, i.e Kelvin, Fox, Fonte, Jos, Richardson, Cork, Morgan, Adam, Guly, Sharp and SRL. Quite an achievement given the amount of money that has been spent and a testimony to how difficult it is to create the winning formula. We should start to rebuild by bringing Kelvin and Cork back into the team on Saturday as we need to put some fight and leadership back into this team.
-
Davis was shocking. How the **** did he get Cork's shirt and what the **** was Cork doing 150 miles north playing for the 21s when Morgan and Davis happily went missing in action. We lack character and we lack leadership.
-
Smacks of last chance saloon for me-looks far too attacking with our defensive record. Death or glory for Adkins. A lot will depend on how much the players want to keep him. Nil nil is not a good bet......
