  1. Hope we smash 'em - got a soft spot for D&R/southampton reserves. More L1 insecurities and bitterness on display here: http://upthesaddlers.com/bb/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=37275 Gotta wonder if many L1 fans get a kick from wallowing in their own faeces.
  2. And both Oakley and Howard were key members of the team/squad that took Leicester within a c*nt's hair of promotion to the premiership in 2010.
  3. Lets try and fund it from our own pockets and not just relax coz we know the club will step in and make up the difference. It will make it a much more satisfying achievement. Control the controllables etc etc etc.
  4. Wouldn't take a risk with CMS - compared to other positions, our frontline has very little championship experience and would prefer proven pedigree, especially if he is cast as leading forward. CMS is quite similar to Barney in style and many forwards would do well in a Peterboro team that has created chances for fun. There are arguably more L1 strikers that have not made a huge impression on the championship -Hunt, Paynter, McLean, BWP etc- than ones that have (and the ones that have made the step up have usually been promoted with the team, not been subject to a big money move). Of course, CMS spent a season in the championship and has learnt from the experience but the numbers -£2m+- being bandied about are pretty steep and need much greater justification in terms of value for money.
  5. Diomansy Kamara from Fulham - not getting games for them and has recently been on loan to Leicester. Should be setting our sights on these kinds of players.

Ended up missing the international break- at least, it provided some relief from the cack that was mostly on display each week. L1 felt like going to work at times.
  10. coz we were in deepest, sh*ttiest Rochdale the evening you played D&R/Southampton reserves - i assume your manager and fans can read?
  11. Guly against Bristol Rovers - both for the quality and significance.
  12. F*ck mate - 900+ posts You're in trouble when they work out what your username -your nom de guerre- really means when read backwards....or maybe you just like the attention
  13. The championship is pretty much as i remember it - the major difference between NPC and L1 is depth. Whereas there are only a handful of good teams in L1, there are ten or twelve decent ones in CCC. Four of those will go on an unbeaten run after Feb. The rest of the league is dross. And of course the old, trusted cliche that anyone can beat anyone on their day applies with extra force. The transition from championship to the premiership is a totally different challenge.
  14. Now that is a vision of hell
  15. The faulty reasoning reveals what a clown this guy is: i) It assumes the fixture list gave us some kind of advantage whereas NA (and most of us) have always seen it as a handicap which has prevented us pulling clear of Huddersfield or putting concerted pressure on BHA (what would have happened if we had got closer to them will always remain an unknown) ii) Logistically given the extent of the fixture pile-up we may have had no alternative but to play the argyle game between the last two games. The day they played Dagenham aka Southampton reserves we were trekking out to Rochdale. iii) Frankly there's nothing nice about playing on the saturday and monday which gives teams no recovery time (though that hits threadbare squads like Argyle harder than us). We originally asked to play the game on the tuesday and rightly or wrongly were told to eff off. Adkins outthought poyet in our 1-to-1s this term; next season it will be reflected in our league positions.
  16. Get jack cork back - only on loan to burnley and now wants a permanent move out of Chelsea. Arguably outshone surman while he was here - and of course, Adkins knows all about him as he gave him his big break at scunny (indeed was their player of the year).
  17. How about if they slap on a booking fee to underwrite the latter's costs, would that make you happier?
  18. If this is any indicator of forum harmony and patience thresholds, just thank f vck we're going up. Another 3 months preseason in L1 would have made Dante's inferno look like the teddy bears tea party.
  19. What's with the love-in? Its so so easy to be magnanimous in victory - alas its the russian roulette of the playoffs that awaits them and, for better or for worse, league position counts for nada. Given the chance, I'd rather see Bompey promoted - 6 easy points next season and a bit of local solidarity (not to mention they've punched well above their weight whereas Huddersfield have enjoyed the opportunities, resources and infrastructure to get it right and still come up short). I've followed Huddersfield progress and if it goes down to GD, I think there will be no better yardstick to assess our respective accomplishments - for all the talk of their amazing unbeaten run, Huddersfield's performances have been patchy and uninspiring (another interpretation is that they've replaced last season's flair with a new-found professionalism and resilience). Either way, scraping and nicking games by the odd goal is going to add up at some point - as our hugely contrasting GDs illustrate, we've overpowered teams in a way huddersfield have simply not. Well-played to them for taking 3 points from games that could and perhaps should have turned out very differently (though they'll probably gripe about home results); but we've easily been better value for our wins. If the playoff final is between peterboro and huddersfield, you have to fancy peterboro in a one-off game - they were very unlucky not to take all 3 points at the Galpharm (but for wasteful finishing in the 1st half and a joe lewis howler). However much Ferguson Jr is a ****, from a purist's perspective, peterboro are arguably the better team. Good luck to huddersfield; but it won't be surprise or sadden me if they fall short again.
  20. Guly was on the far left dancing with Fonte and Jaidi - he was right in the middle of the celebrations, loving it. No doubt that's tinged with a bit of relief- his decision to come to England was a massive personal and professional gamble. Glad for him that its paying off.
  21. Since day 1, he's been class - as I said before, I think Lambert (and Lallana and Guly) play better when he's in the team. Who know's what the story is with his injuries - i guess he didn't like the back from the dead chant because it contributes to lazy stereotypes and lowered expectations about what he can still offer us. Apart from his technique, I wouldn't be surprised if he covered the most ground amongst our players today - the guy is whippet lean, the proverbial last man standing on your bleep test.
  22. Not worth the aggro - ground is in a leafy residential area, so park in one of those streets, leaving a very short walk.
