Maybe marlon harewood -one of pards people- at an age where he would conceivably drop down for first-team action and a new challenge. -
...sign agyemang instead.

Think we need another a big target man - we've been set up to play direct and only get the ball down in the final third. Neither Connolly nor Barnard provide that outball option- and it showed in the 1st half as nothing stuck or flowed. Not surprisingly, things got better in the 2nd when Lambo came on. Getting another target man in would also allow us to go with the two big men which might be useful when teams mark the f**k out of Lambo - teams that have done that have typically done well against us this season...

I thought the series of away draws after Xmas -Millwall, Brentford, Exeter, Wycombe- knocked the stuffing out of us (esp as we took the lead in three of the four). But Swindon was arguably the clincher, though I never stopped hoping till after the Oldham result. Testimony to this year's achievements is that we largely managed to overcome the poor start.

Interesting comment about Hammond - thought that Pards had his favs but good to know that nobody is untouchable. Since his return from injury (and even before it), doesn't really seem to have recaptured/maintained his earlier form for us.

Very impressed by Myles Weston of Brentford this season - would give us a decent attacking option on the left if Lallana leaves or want to mix things up. But CM is the priority... -
you're probably right - will see who comes down and doesnt go up and might stick £400 on us winning the league and £600 on us getting promoted. given our form -once the team stabilised and took shape in October- hard to see us not challenging in some way.
-
Odds will lengthen a bit when promotion and relegation issues are sorted out. Anybody know what our odds are for getting promoted? Going to put a grand on it.
-
Teams coming to St.Marys have done that since day 1 - Millwall, Brentford, Colchester etc all came to stifle us. Oldham or Leyton Orient didn't stumble on some magic elixir - and as home results have shown, we've largely learnt to deal with others negativity.
-
I'm sticking 1k on us getting promoted so any position from 1-6 will do as long as we are out of this sorry league come may 2011. After a poor first ten games, we've maintained automatic promotion form without frankly playing brilliant in many games and breaking sweat. With Jan's signings bedded in and a few new faces to arrive (and admiittedly depart) over the summer, I can't see us being stopped.

Grew up down there - I'm not for lording it over teams; but they are a bunch of ungratef*l c*nts. This is a place where harry is deified and goodwill is more likely to be felt to teams like West Ham than anything we've ever done. However trivial, if I have a bothersome zit on my arse I will pop it - same goes for football teams. Ultimately, though, I take their amusing bitterness as confirmation that we still are the top dogs in the south, the aristocracy in the footballing hierarchy. Years of dominance haven't been reversed by the skates bubble in peoples imaginations - cherries fans are more likely to see skates as fellow plucky underdogs whereas we have been -and continue to be- major scalps, the team others benchmark themselves against. Don't how true that is - at least where we currently are- but I take great pleasure that others still see it that way....

Agree but think Pards lucked out - should have been braver and made the 2nd and 3rd susbstitutions well before the 83rd minute. Waigo and/or connolly should have been on from the 65th min because we posed very litte attacking threat in the 2nd half - (I still think we dropped points at Brighton for similar reasons - as you'll recall it was the Papa and Barnard combo that eventually got us another late goal). And when Schneiderlin was sent off, I thought Pards would bottle it altogether, even though our playoff hopes were dying with the score at 0-0. Anyway glad he didnt for as you say the subs made the difference.

Thinking of sticking a few bob on Huddersfield to win - ease the pain if they do though it will still f**k up tomorrow and the rest of my weekend till I adopt Stockport, Exeter, Colchester i.e. whoever they've got to play as my second fav clubs; if they lose or draw, im emotionally quids-in. Come tuesday evening want to be 2 points behind and giving them sleepless nights. MIIIIIIIILLLLLLLLLLLLLL

Just your post-match comments seem a little more self-certain than they usually are when you dont go to games - and that's no mean feat.
-
Hate to imagine what more of a bore you'd be if you attended more games. You sound like somebody who's just lost their virginity after coming in seconds. Can't stop talking about the experience even though they basically know f**k all about it. Don't know if I prefer the DD who's now the all-knowing oracle coz he's actually gone to a game or the DD who gets all his recycled half-truths from the web and radio.

Well's it not just us (sour grapes we will be told by the blue few) who feel its a stitch-up. From the guardian wrap up on the site's live commentary. "...Final thoughts: A great story. Spurs dominated the game but couldn't find a goal, or at least not without the referee blowing his whistle first. Portsmouth's miserable season will end on a high note. I kind of wish them well – who doesn't love an against-all-odds Cup success? – but there's a slightly bitter taste lingering. With a squad of players which they can't afford and never could, Portsmouth are in the FA Cup final. In the league, there are points deductions to ensure that clubs don't benefit from taking themselves into administration, but there's no punishment in the Cup. Surely there should be? Surely it's just as much cheating in the Cup as it is in the league? Surely, in short, Pompey shouldn't be allowed to win this Cup with this cheatingly-acquired team? Presumably they will be the first FA Cup finalists to be in administration, so there would be no precedent. Wouldn't it be slightly funny, and not entirely unjust, if Portsmouth, having come this far, having won this game, really quite heroically, were booted out of the competition before the final? Won't happen, mind. Not in a million years. Fun game, though. Thanks for being there. Here. Wherever you were...."
