  1. Well that's nice. I suppose you could say that Lowe and Co are working hard to put us into a position whereby lower league rules apply!
  2. Oh dear. Things are looking far from rosey. I strongly suspect there is just not enough about the side to survive.
  3. Could this be the beginning of the end? Something tells me we are fooked. )-:
  4. 1. '76 Cup Final win 2. Winning a game (any game) when its against all the odds. 3. Seeing Lowe deposed the first time around. 4. Future? Seeing Lowe getting run out of Southampton after his shares are worth nothing due to administration.
  5. No it was not. However, it was made a lot worse due to the nature of crowd control at the time. The varous controls that have been introduced over time to ensure everyones safety are all linked. If you cannot see that, its clear you're unable to see the 'big picture' to be honest. I also do not believe the club is in a position financially to make significant alterations to the stadium layout even if Lowe and Co wanted to...it would not be a simple case of just cordening off a section or similar.
  6. No I don't go there - and if I did to be fair, I would not mind standing as I like the atmosphere it generates. However, not everyone wants to stand. So, perhaps there should be a petition raised by someone like the thread starter to lobby the club to introduce a standing area? It might see some success, who knows. But to kick the club for controls that have been progressively introduced by law due to some of the terrible scenes of death and injury at football stadiums in the past, is not being mature or reasonable IMHO.
  7. Stupid comment - you use the steps as a legitimate thoroughfare and so are standing anyway. Why do you pay for insurance? To cover you in the event of an emergency...but until you need to use it, you don't need it - right? With H&S legislation its the same principle for the Club - they need to demonstrate due care otherwise some wally will fall over, potentially hurt others and wind up with a lawsuit. If some lumbering drunken oaf fell on your child/friend/relative causing injury, you'd be up in arms I'm sure. The trouble with all this kind of stuff is that there are always a minority of idiots that will spoil it for everyone else. There are several horrific accidents that have happened at football stadiums - are you too young to remember them? Perhaps we should go back to the days of Hillsborough eh? Stadium regulations and health and safety controls are there for a purpose, lets not forget that.
  8. I take it that is a serious comment as there's no 'winky'? Shall I spell it out for you? The 'dangerous highways' are not inside the ground and therefore no responsibility for the club to uphold the law....can't believe I've just had to explain that!
  9. See above post...
  10. Collectively...Poortvliet, Pearson, Burley, Harry & Jim, Bassett & Wise, Dodd & Gorman, Sturrock, Wigley, Strachan. Missed anyone?
  11. A voice of reason...at last.
  12. Oh dear, I'm afraid I do know what I'm talking about 'mate'. If there were no seats in the way, it would be much less of an issue. The fact is the seats present a very clear H&S risk for standing - i.e. if someone was to topple over one and take out people in front domino fashion. I have seen idiots fueled by alchohol topple and fall down the steps in the Northam on more than one occasion, so don't tell me it can't happen. I suspect if you were badly injured you'd be one of the first to bring a lawsuit against the club.
  13. How this is supposed to be of any purpose whatsoever, other than ingratiating onself with a few Northam supporters that post on here? Standing in a seated area is dangerous not just to yourself but to others too. When will you start to realise its the law, not the club that you need to have an argument with? Jeez.
  14. Well thats two mistakes then - 1st the sneaky illegal fag and then coming on here expecting sympathy. Pathetic.
  15. Thats the key fact - 4 wins and a draw from 8 games when we cannot score against poor opposition. Unfortunately the writing was on the wall several months ago...Wotte putting two up front helped, but he still persists with the diamond at home and THAT limits the teams ability to dominate the midfield and get good balls to feet in attack. We are down people. That could also mean administration and if Lowe tries to hold on this season that could mean a very rough ride in league one, in turn leading to TWO seasons (or more) in that league. The next 8 games are probably the most important in the recent history of the club and yet look at who is in custody at this most important time...it ain't looking too good is it?
  16. I reckon James was told to get a card in the game to ensure his suspension was out of the way for the run in. The challenge he made was not necessary (by the centre line) and somewhat out of character. Then we had Jake T come into the side from out of the wilderness and I thought, hang-on I think we're seeing our new RB here! Interesting actually, I think JT could be a better RB than James potentially as he has more pace and had proven he can get to the byline and put in a good cross (his style reminds me a little of Walcott). What is unknown is how good he is defensively - can he put a boot in where it hurts?
  17. Stupid idea written by a stupid man. That's all.
  18. Stuggling badly here...sorry.
  19. I have a horrible feeling that this is the game we will look back on and say "thats the game that sent us down". Head : Saints 1 - QPR 3 Heart : Saints 2 - QPR 1 I pray that the lads come out fighting today and Blackstock has a mare.
  20. Yes, but an interesting number of similarities don't you think? They had to work with a "play the youth policy" when they couldn't pay the senior players. Gates dropped - income dropped...etc. I thought what a sad state they're in and then realised how close we must be to their fate. We may have bigger revenue, but we've got much larger debts too.
  21. Surely for all the "6-pointers" for our rele-rivals, it would be better for it to be a draw so they each just get 1 point. Mind you, that's only good if we're winning.
  22. Did anyone see the TV program "Inside Out" last night on Weymouth FC and their fight for survival? I think there were property developers involved at some stage that bought into the club because there was potential with the land around the stadium. Anyway, it was interesting to hear they adopted a "youth policy" when they no longer had money to pay their senior players - the youths were highly pleased to be given the chance finally to play for the 1st team, but the results went dramatically downhill. Gates dwindled thus plummetting the club into deeper financial turmoil. Now where have I heard that story before...it does sound remarkably familiar does it not? Saints must be close to going under - the gates cannot possibly support the overheads - there's a firesale of everything not bolted down (BOGOF in the shop) - the stadium debt is crippling....etc. etc. The only thing I really hope for now is that there is someone out there waiting with their money for admin to occur so they can buy the club and not need to worry about 1,000's of shareholders to placate. I still find it hard to believe one man has masterminded the collapse of a PLC in such a short period of time...
  23. I can confirm these facts.
  24. Blimey, if he invested £50 in Saints it would be £50 more than Lowe or Wilde.
  25. You need to read a little more carefully my friend - I did not state ALL Dutch guys - just the two that we've had the misfortune to endure at SMS. It's pretty clear what I meant - why are you so intent on baiting instead of discussing the subject properly?
