Real and PSG never looked at Gavin. However, he is rated so highly by Pompey, some rate him more than David James. Also worth remembering the Michael Poke connection who is the lead GK coach at Pompey and worked with Gav last season. Off the pitch he's a cracking lad, very unassuming and keeps himself to himself, put him in an 18 yard and you see a different side. Made two mistakes last season attempting to 'play out from the back' which are the exception, his ability in possession typically is excellent both with the ball on the floor and in his hands. I witnessed arguably the greatest live save I've seen last season at FP from Gavin, so I have nothing other than positive things to say about him.
