What do the board actually expect the fan base to do for the Wolves game if they don't sack him? I'd go as far as saying he's hated by number of the fanbase and severely disliked by the majority. it'll be toxic. He's going to get peppered by supporters and St Mary's isn't going to be very pleasant on Saturday, which will magnify if(when) we lose to Wolves. It's public knowledge a number of players dislike him, why run the risk of further damage at Staplewood. Even if they don't feel there's a better option out there right this minute, he's surpassed underperforming with his conduct to the supporters, players and media. The irony is, I got to know a very good hard working man lose his job in the EFL this year and he was totally devastated he lost his job. It made me really reflect on that these are blokes are Husbands, Fathers, Friends and that supporters need to wind their necks in at times. However NJ has made me dismiss that attitude and he deserves to know his conduct AND performance is not acceptable.

I'm gonna (slightly) play devils advocate on this. I can't argue your point about the bid from our perspective and it's value but Liam Delap is rated very highly in football circles. You have to be slightly careful when it comes to gauging a players potential ability when using their early career loans as a marker. Harry Kane, is arguably the best example of this. Liam was (still is) very highly thought of by Manchester City and England. I won't lie, I was really pleased to hear we were in for him (perhaps not for the rumoured value the fee was reported) but nonetheless a player I feel will go on and have a decent Premier League career. If it was say a £10-15 million deal then fair enough but as you rightly highlight, at £25+ there was more 'proven' players worth pursuing. There's a young player on loan at the club I work for now, he's very highly rated by his parent club in the PL and hasn't quite hit it off here. There's always a number of variables to loans not working out and I'd bet my bottom dollar if the lad played 10 games for his parent club right now, he'd have scored more goals than his current football league club - most likely due to the standard and frequency of service better players would provide him (his current club in possession model doesn't perhaps suit his profile). I would've liked to have seen us make a move for Beto if this rumoured £25million is available.

Given how utterly miserable it is at the moment, let's have some nostalgia. You only get one vote and the game is simple, pick one player who on their initial performance/debut/early form had a bit about them and you thought/hoped would turn out to be a strong performer for Saints only to leave on a free two years later? I remember a very decent performance from Jamie White one game in the Championship (I think) however, ultimate award goes to Leandre Griffit. Thought he'd be the new Henry.
