  1. I think so, we were talking about it yesterday. Assume we can't afford to renew it. If we are only going to get something like £200k we would be better keeping him and letting it run out.
  2. I'm happy that the stadium in in Southampton rather than Eastleigh. I hate out of town grounds.
  3. The man was a legend, quite simply. When I saw the news I started wondering who would be today's equivalent. Jeff Stelling? Ray Stubbs?
  4. There is a Robert Hope http://www.soccerbase.com/players_details.sd?playerid=3610 Looks like he might be our sort of player, a bit old though.
  5. http://www.saintsfc.co.uk/articles/article.php?page_id=11181 Not desperately surprising! 3 out of 5 not bad, enough to win Player of the Season even if he does leave.
  6. Exeter v Port Vale was called off on Saturday, probably where confusion has arisen.
  7. Will almost certainly renew as I know I will go and it is just a lot more convenient.
  8. Last time I checked on Betfair (can't do it from work) the "any other score" odds - basically either team has to score at least 4, no prizes for guessing which one, were around 4/1. That might be a good bet.
  9. May as well mention CMFG and Marian Pahars
  10. Not a bad beer. Other good tripels that are reasonably accessible are Chimay White, Tripel Karmeliet and Westmalle Tripel.
  11. I know people are worring about double figures but even we can't concede that many!
  12. Yes but we've already got their cash so no loss in throwing them out! Wonder if they will stop anyone wearing a Man U shirt in the home end? Bound to be at least a few kids trying it.
  13. Couples etiquette is a separate problem I assume it goes back to when the "lady" didn't work but unacceptable these days. I think the designated driver is entitled but it should be made clear from the start. If it's a regular drinking group then it doesn't matter as long as you are consistent. If you walk into a pub and get involved in rounds then you should have enough cash. Now that most pubs take cards this isn't really a problem. not worried about TV really. Can't see why you wouldn't ask for a clean glass, at beer festivals we have to be very careful about not touching the top of the glass and not letting the punter's glass come in contact with the tap on the barrel. What about rounds generally? While it's more sociable people are going to be encouraged to accept drinks they don't want. And I've known people line up three or four drinks when they are drinking slowly. To my mind if you've got the best part of a full pint you don't need another one. A bit wary about accepting if I've got at least a half. Something else that irritates me is people sitting at the bar apparently oblivious to others trying to get there to order a drink.
  14. The Hopsinjoor is a bit different from the standard. The Christmas one is excellent too. Hogs Back is nice have you tried their 9% one the A over T? Will be at Forest, Reading and Man U games. Normally get in GD both before and after, will PM you details. GD always has ESB and Bowman Swift One. Also a range from generally local breweries such as other Bowman beers, Dorset, 1648, Dark Star, Andwell, Ballards, Irving, Palmers, Stonehenge, Triple fff etc Also has Chimay, Maredsous and Bink from Belgium plus Schneider Weisse.
  15. Hi there Yes, Chris also runs a trip to the one in March at Sint Niklaas Chris also recommends a beer called Gouden Carolus Hopsinjoor although as you know there's no one beter to ask for advice. Ascot beers are good, have you tried any Surrey Hills? Do you ever get in the Guide Dog? Best pub in Southampton!
  16. I bet some of them were wearing vests too, poofs!
  17. Just been sent this link of a Belmadi goal from the weekend. We could do with some of that! http://www.101greatgoals.com/videodisplay/1863097/
  18. Someone who knows his beer!! (although I notice you sneakily didn't point out that none of them are lagers) I normally go to Belgium twice a year with Chris Brown's (Bitter Virtue/South Hants CAMRA) trips. Recent one in Nov was to the Bruges Beer Festival. On previous trips we have stopped off at Westvleteren on the way but out of three times I've only ever been able to buy beer to bring back once and even then there was no 12. A good beer to try is McChouffe, only comes in 75cl bottles though. Saw Westvleteren on the list in Cambrinus in Bruges but don't know if they had any. About 6 Euros a bottle, not good with the exchange rate.

    Cider

Apart from a very few pubs the only place to get decent cider or perry is at a beer festival. Maybe at the odd farmers' market (Mr Whiteheads) or farm if you are in the West Country. It's weird that a mass produced over marketed fizzy fruit juice like Magners has actually sparked an interest in the traditional drink. Always sells out at festivals.
  20. Have had it before, a nice beer. Tried the Leeds Best in the Brewery Tap which was nothing special. The touble up north is they want such a massive head on their beer it can ruin the flavour. Would have liked to see some Thornbridge, they brew excellent ales. Further to comment about Moorhose's the Bridge had No-Nay-Never which had a Burnley crest on the pump clip. Again not a great beer. There is a pub near me which regularly has Black Cat on gravity, the Bree Louise just outside Euston. Now that is good!
  21. Getting up at 6.30 wasn't fun but we eventually got to Burnley and piled in the Ministry of Ale. Brew Pub with two of their own beers plus some Rudgate and Sharps. On to the Bridge Bier Huis Which had about 5 real ales which changed while we were in there plus a pretty good selection of foreign beer. On the way back we stopped in Leeds at the Brewery Tap just outside the station, a new outlet for the Leeds Brewery beers. Got back to King's X before 11 and just managed to connect with the 23.13 from Vauxhall, home after midnight. Completely knackered. May have gone to a football match but not sure if it was a dream or a nightmare...
  22. If they do cheer they'll get thrown out. Might end up with 15,000 in the ground by the end.
  23. Who was the bloke who came along with Simon Clifford. Not sure if he signed for us.
  24. Orange Crush was played as I left the stadium. Must mean that Rupes wants Jan out.
