Nathaniel Clyne Joins Liverpool - Official
david in sweden replied to Saint Garrett's topic in The Saints
don't think Clyne ..or Man Utd would want to wait another season(with/without) a Euro. competition, clearly the MU squad needs " refreshing in defence " soon. Playing in Europe might be seen as a bonus for us, but another season without Euro football at Old Trafford would start a meltdown there. MU are still a long way behind Chelsea and Citeh (qualitywise), and are unlikley to be title candidates again in the short term. -

er.....then someone might use the FFP rules to suggest we are earning " too much " .... -
Mmm....was thinking the same thing ....

absolutely ! ..and I don't have to be a ref. to agree with that...disgusting behaviour.

yes - not the first time we've seen that....but if Shaw went for £27 mill.....can Clyne be worth less? - given his extra experience....and rave reviews for England. -
.......think I've seen one or two player interviews this season that remind me of that sketch......

of course this left a bitter taste for many fans of the day, but when that sort (Sunderland) opportunity comes, it's difficult to say NO.... Hoddle was faced with the same situation, but it went pear-shaped for both of them, but nowadays we mostly remember the better times. There are still people on this site who have fond memories of Hoddle's (short) spell as manager, and compliment his footballing style which took us out of the turgid period when Dave Jones struggled with the task. Lawrie Mc Menemy's managerial career seems like the Hollywood plot for Rickie Lambert's playing career.....rejected youth player, Non League start, lower league success, etc, etc, Overall, we have had very little real success to look back on since 1976, I think it would be respectful to give some sort of honour to Lawrie, especially now that we have a Chairman who seems to show more respect for our history than the previous one did, and is willing to " repatriate " our former heroes....so why not? Club history has little meaning to some fans, but is a vital component in the memory of many (older) fans. How I wish Nicola Cortese had been more open to honouring Ron Davies ......when we had the chance.

in retrospect....after winning, they may be telling themselves they made the right choice, and see 16 unbroken games as a big step on the way to Euro football. As for their memories, and or regrets..... Lambert..surely no Saints' fan with a heart would begrudge him the move back to his home city. (Danny Ings won't be coming to us in the summer, but if HE got the chance to come to SMS in the twilight of his career, I'm sure he'd like a chance-even if it was coming off the bench once in a while). Rickie may be be sad not getting 90 mins. every week, but at this stage of his career, the odd sub.appearance and scoring an important goal will be a special feeling. Lovren ..could be on a list pf players who had ONE good season with us and left the club. Liverpool will be the highpoint of his career. End of story. Lallana.. I think many fans feel a bitterness towards him. For 10 years he's was the epitome of the Academy. First team apps. L1, and the Championship... then the Prem. I think he stated believing in somewhere bigger when he got into England squad. Clearly Pochettino (who had similar feelings about greatness), and lost his belief in SFC after Cortese left. MP clearly influenced many of the first team squad to think bigger, and was first to jump ship and these three were first in the lifeboats. Lallana will progress well at L'pool and ought to be a future captain ahead of that **** Henderson. Adam may have unspoken regrets, but has a 5 year contract to cushion his sorrow and ......his bank balance.

There is surely a big pay day for both Morgan and SFC here. Regardless of our eventual League finish (Euro place or not), he really is good enough to play in any club anywhere in Europe. No! .....I don't want him to leave either, but it looks on the cards and my thought is : Is he a better player than our former captain?....and is he worth a bigger fee than (said player)....? I'm not going to start "comparing" him to others, but several Prem. sides have already paid out £30 million+ on top players - should we expect less in the auction ....(for his signature)..that is bound to come in the summer? The "Black Box" must be bursting with suggestions for his (eventual) replacement....and a selling price of that magnitude is more than a seasons' ticket sales

Er?......do you have another Saints custodian in mind, if you're disappointed with his stats?.

remember most of this ..but moved to Sweden somewhere in the middle. Loved the original Billy Joel melody, but give this version ***** also.

Koeman says Mané was dropped due to discipline
david in sweden replied to Saint-Armstrong's topic in The Saints
of course we don't know exactly what late means in this instant (timewise)? ...... but if it was close to kick-off ...and the team sheet had to be submitted to the ref. in advance and he wasn't in the building ....then I'd be a bit miffed if I were Koeman. -
agreed .....but 30% of that home tally came in one game.
-
me, too. .....and not just yesterday, either. I hope we can keep Toby...but if not ..I wouldn't worry about playing Yoshida, if he can hold his recent form.

Post-Match Reaction: SAINTS 0-2 Liverpool
david in sweden replied to Saint-Armstrong's topic in The Saints
......as well as handball by the defender......and Mingolet carried the ball outside of the area, too. As for their penalty call... when a lightweight defender is tackled by a heavyweight centre back, he'll always fall on his face... ....but Fonte did get the ball first... and at least the ref. was lose enough to see that one. -

of course... referees are neutral and impartial - aren't they?..but I do find it a little disturbing .....that TWICE in the BBC report on the game, Brendan Rodgers referred to the ref. by using his Christian name when complimenting the official of his handling of the game.... Nice one ..KEVIN ! -
......and one that many of us seem to agree with. Disappointing, in a season that has produced some of our best Prem. AWAY performances, we are suddenly dropping points at home. Opposition teams are coming with packed midfields and at times with 10 men back defending, but TBH.....I'd much prefer a few more direct shots on goals instead of trying to find another player who " is better placed". Shoot on sight is a better policy than playing " dainty " football and trying to pass through a mass of legs inside the box. That " extra pass " gives defenders time to re-group and block shots.

EXACTLY - Terry Paine used to hit good passes from touchline to touchline.

That's only for Batman ... ..but why do ladies still seek after..." the powder room ". Do they want to sniff it, or explode it?. .....and just where do they go to toilet, when I'm in the Gents.? Plain language please.

..since the Pilgrim Fathers set sail in that leaky boat and headed to the Colonies almost 400 years, we've had four centuries to try and teach Americans how to use the English Language correctly - - and failed miserably. With so many US-produced TV programmes generated to our screens-(it's worse in Sweden). Why is it so many people....when asked about their health (not wellness)...insist on saying..." I'm good " Egotists !.....it's not for them to judge themselves - but for others so to do. As for me ....I'm fine, thank you.

an obvious talking point I suppose, but cannot think why booing Lallana can be more important than cheering for Saints......(don't waste your breath). Our former captain is a former player with a five year contact with another club. He left for " greener pastures " (exactly as Walcott, Bale, Ox...and Shaw) The real question, at the end of their careers will be ....can all that money in the bank really replace that half of their career that they spent on the bench at " their new club? " There is little doubt that... had they still been at SMS... all of their names would have been on the team sheet for every match. Past is past. I'm more interested in seeing the development of new players, rather that the fate of the old ones who jumped ship for big money. A win for Saints will be more than just three points, but a real condemnation (of the 3) for their decision to move on. Suggest announcement of Lallana's name is greeted ..in complete silence.
