It is sad, every time I look at the league table I have a tear in my eye. When Lallana signed a new contract I was locked in my room crying 'why are the fans singing the name of our chairman? WHY?' Unless you mean sad as in 'not cool', and then I still agree with you, because I look to the terraces as the first port of call for all things hip and fashionable.

A fantastic post! There are too many morons on this forum who are used to hating the chairman. Cortese hasn't done anything bad that even remotely compares to the huge amount of good, sadly not everybody has the brain cells to see that.

eloquent isn't he.

and when compared to everything else the club has done (that has exceeded ALL of our past regimes) i'd suggest that the club has got a little cut on its foot rather than shot it. maybe a nettle sting. -

i haven't said eff anybody. how does discussing something on a forum lead to you helping him? if i typed 'cortese was a fool and the club should give nick a ticket straight away' what would happen? what's that? nothing. this is a forum, not the houses of parliament. what helping hand has been offered by typing on a forum? have the club suddenly changed their minds because of an anonymous opinion? i'm sure it's terrible for nick, BUT he can still pay to see games, he hasn't been banned. in addition i don't know any of the facts, so why would i condemn the club i support? since when are fans more loyal to each other than the club? my point was not actually about nick, and i'm pretty surprised that you aren't intelligent enough to see that, it was a response to the usual 'cortese needs to sort himself out blah blah'. -

true, i wouldn't be too happy, but i don't run a supporter trust and appear in the media to discuss saints related things. he is a fan, but he has extra responsibilities that us average fans don't. -

it's sad that a saints fan has been refused a season ticket, but he can still come and watch the games so not as bad as it could have been. i wonder if other fans meticulously dissect every aspect of their club in the way we do? it's sad how political this board (but maybe us fans in general- not that i'm suggesting this board is 'representative' of all saints fans, that doesn't seem to go down too well) has become. i'm sure there are some like nick who are genuinely very angry about this, but most of these posts want to spout some hatred about a subject that has little effect on them and, as far as i'm concerned, makes little difference to my life or my support of my team. to think that this puts a downer on our win is laughable. -
and if prize money was their only income then you'd be correct. however (and i'm sure you know this) by winning competitions they would have more exposure to other markets for merchandising etc. if it wasn't cost effective for clubs to buy players for large sums of money they wouldn't. it might not be moral, and it might not be saving lives, but that doesn't mean it doesn't work.

because of the amount of money his goals would generate. it is very simple.

I also agree. It shows how much I know about football, I thought he was one of the few players who would take the man on.

I see your point, but didn't Adkins technically resurrect Chaplow's career? He'd been out of the team for quite some time, and played for a few different clubs. I also think that you may be overestimating our league. We already have the best overall squad in the league, virtually all of our players would (and some have) be the star player in almost all League One sides. The fact we can talk about Lallana, Guly, AOC, Lambert, Chaplow etc all playing for us shows that we don't need any marquee signings.
-
i think the complete opposite. are you suggesting that we are on a par with arsenal? we are a THIRD DIVISION team, they are in the CHAMPIONS LEAGUE.

Le Tissier Snubbed ticket for United game ?

I agree. I don't want to have to choose between them, they are both great for our club. -
Lambert on the start to the season, Adkins & Chamberlain

Go on, lift the lid! I think it would actually be quite good PR for the club, highlighting the benefits of the technical team and the things they are planning for. Would remove a lot of the traditional skepticism fans have towards those sorts of roles in this country. -

great stuff! did you ever write a piece about les reed? -
sign him up, in his first game they were given a winning penalty despite the match ending as a draw! we could have done with that against Notts County.
-
you are right, to an extent, but i expect the reason lallana, OC and now guly don't have groans for a miss is because they also score or get assists in addition.

neither of those have the same coloured sash, whereas loads of teams have exactly the same colour and style strip as our old kit. what about if he had said: it is a unique HOME kit, unlike the stripes?
-
if it weren't for the poll i'd assume the consensus is to go back to stripes, the sash lovers are clearly far less vocal.
-
i see what you mean, but the red and white stripes are famous as being the strip of lots of teams. they aren't actually the famous red and white of southampton any more than stoke et al. the sash on the other hand...
