Ince?! He has NOT managed in League 1, he got MK Dons promoted from League 2, with a squad that Martin Allen had built. I have never seen an interview with him that didn't make me think he is bit of a plank. Good footballer, not clever enough to be a good manager. Don't you remember Bentley's swipe that he made people do press ups for standing nonchalantly and insisted on being called the Guv'nor? Dowie's record at Coventry, over the period he was there, would have meant they were challenging for the playoff positions, he was screwed over by QPR and Charlton, the former now has an even worse manager and the latter have been in freefall. Dowie is a clever bloke, and as previously mentioned an innovative manager. The game is changing and we need people who will embrace that rather than Ince's archaic methods. Also, Dowie would have us playing much better football than Aide Hoofroyd... He gets my vote.

I think if you got rid of the scarf, football and halo that badge would be brilliant. love the kit. send it to them! -
I find this all a bit confusing... I understand that the Pinnacle assisted bid has entered a period of exclusivity, which is BRILLIANT. What I don't understand is all the conjecture and apparent bitterness by some of the people on here. I find it pretty impossible to think of, for example, Marc Jackson as anything other than a bit of a plonker after his previous forays into the takeover world. He might have done something good this time, but the fact is the average fan has no idea about this, so how can we be blamed for having a view on the guy? If the only evidence we have points to one conclusion, it isn't such a daft view to hold. MJ might have been doing lots of good stuff behind the scenes, but WE HAVE SEEN NO PROOF OF THAT, you can't expect us to believe what a few ITK's say (especially being that none of you have been 100% correct in anything) without telling us actually what happened. Either tell us why we should be grateful to MJ, or dubious of Pinnacle, or any other reason for holding your view, otherwise you make it impossible for us to agree with you. If I don't know what you know I have no obligation to think what you think. I hope this makes sense, I'd have thought that this announcement would get rid of most of the ITK rubbish on here, but it seems to have made it worse!

Pinnacle Led Bid Latest- Premiership in Five Years
capitalsaint replied to John B's topic in The Saints
I agree completely. Just because Ince was a useful player doesn't mean he can translate it to being a useful manager. In League 2 most ex-players of his stature would be successful because of the respect they command amongst players who will never reach the same heights. The thing that worries me about him, above all, is that he doesn't seem to be all too clever. His interviews didn't make much sense, he's not particularly eloquent, and as for calling yourself 'The Guv'nor'... -
Pinnacle Led Bid Latest- Premiership in Five Years

He knows about the club, as I said he tipped me off about Lowe. His source of information is from the club itself rather than either of the bids. To be honest, if there is one that comes from nowhere that's better I'd like it too! I just wanted to mention this because we all seem to have a bit of a doomed philosophy about it all. There is hope! -
Pinnacle Led Bid Latest- Premiership in Five Years

Not claiming to be ITK, not by a long shot, but was told yesterday by a Bournemouth fan- he tipped me off about Lowe's return long before this site did- that the Pinnacle bid is extremely well financed and certain to be Fry's preferred bid. Ignore it if you want, class it as bullsh*t, I'm not fussed. Just wanted to pass on the good news in good faith! -
Skacel would have been nothing without Bale. I was so excited when he came to us, after all the hype, and never saw him do anything exciting. Wasn't quick enough, wasn't fit enough, and didn't play with enough heart to make up for it. Bale looked infinitely more composed when he was on the ball. Skacel is like the girl from school that you fancied for years, only to realise one day that she was a hag all along.

would someone mind quickly filling me in as to who this guy is?

i don't know why, after Barry the Briefcase, Allen et al, I still believe ANYTHING that gets posted on here. Genuinely thought we'd get some news and a press conference.. Underwhelming

I think you'll find that the abuse Phillips received was only because he slated us in his first interview after he left. He said he should never have joined us and that it felt wrong from the start. He didn't thank the fans, even though we idolized him, and said he was glad to have left. He deserves any abuse he gets, criticize the club all you want but to not even thank the fans was disgraceful.

I second you on that. I was sat in the family enclosure at the Burnley game, when he came on he destroyed the left back and put in two decent crosses. He wasn't on for that long but we looked so much more dangerous when we actually had some width. He close control was better than most of the players we have, I think if he was given a bit of coaching he'd be a decent player.

Lowe & Richards in board room on Sunday at Forest....Confirmed by Club
capitalsaint replied to exit2's topic in The Saints
I know this is old news, but i might as well put in my few pennies worth. If rupert is to be hated in such a way, can't we at least be logical about it? Yes, he made a mistake with the dutch setup, yes, he made a mistake with wigley. But please can we remember we also got to the fa cup final, into europe and have a fantastic stadium. I don't love lowe, i accept he is the reason for our downfall, but he shares the blame with plenty others. The players and their half baked performances, managers such as redknapp who made some ridiculous decisions- notably playing ormerod against man u, and the fans who let the club suffer by not turning up. I think to suggest he did any of this with the intent of ruining saints is ridiculous, he is a businessman who wants to make a business successful. End of. I also think the financial mismanagement in his two year absence, while a sore subject, had massive implications to where we are now. As i said, i don't love the guy, but i can see that there were good and bad things about his regime, as with crouch et al. He's put a lot of time into the club, for better or worse, i'd say he probably feel as connected as we do in some way. He was here for years, involved in the day to day management. Lets end the hysteria and move on. -
i'll probably get a bit of stick for this, but we had much better width when ryan smith came on for lallana, he provided a few decent crosses and i thought he was pretty effective... I think he could do a job in league 1.

JPS man of the match today, incredible performance.
-
I took the train back towards the match and they were on it too, nice lads. Prob nothing but there was also a really old bloke looking at lots of sfc headed papers, he put them away when the lads came on. So i did some investigating on the phone and asked them if they thought he looked like the chap on my screen, they thought it was him. The man? None other than ikea chap! It prob wasn't him, but certainly looked like him... Imho of course.
