PEOPLE, calm down! If Pompey were claiming that Hughes was about to take them over, somebody on here would have posted the link and we'd have all had a good chuckle at the dangerously high levels of self importance. The chance of us getting Mark Hughes is tiny. We are in League 1 ffs, there are plenty of sides that he would go to before us. If Hughes had taken over at QPR everybody would have been a little surprised, so let's get some perspective. Pardew has done a great job here, turning around the team to looking like next season's league winners. But let us also remember that it is the support of ML and NC that has made this possible, the negative (and empirically unwarranted) abuse that NC is starting to get makes me wonder if we are so used to hating the man at the top we can't see when we're acting like spoilt children. Most fans would kill for our set-up, so let's enjoy it a bit more. Finally, the fact that Pardew has done an amazing job here does not make him a better manager than Hughes. Tactically, Hughes is fantastic. He could set up that Blackburn side to beat anybody on their day, and is still the only manager to really get anything out of David Bentley. Pardew is good for Southampton, but that doesn't mean he is THE BEST for Southampton. It is possible for him to be worse than other managers, we don't have to argue that he's the new Fergie.

there's no group that love some gossip and intrigue as much as us saints fans! not a few hours after the end of the season and already it's rife, this is going to be one hell of a summer! my bet is that hughes will sign, bringing carsten jancker with him.

I'm sat in mcdonalds on the a20 and 4 lads wearing immaculate, matching training gear have just started tucking into some grub. I think we'll be ok! I'll find out who they are later, one is totally bald with a huge nose, another is going grey and has tats on his arms.

yes, but you miss the point. you cheated because you took on players that you couldn't afford, ie couldn't physically pay the tax on their wages. we do pay the tax, and the wages. we aren't cheating because we haven't failed to pay anybody. for what it's worth i respect you for trying to come on here and stick up for your club, it's just a shame you let emotion cloud logic. don't you think?

not being personal, but that doesn't really work for a football club. not settling for second best is fine in your own life, it pushes you to improve yourself, but if you can't directly change or affect a situation, not settling for second best with a team you support is pretty futile. you don't speak to the players, so getting angry with a manager's performance will do nothing to improve our standing. surely as a successful person you must see the difference? football is a game, as someone who has enjoyed success in their life it must ultimately fall pretty low on your list of priorities, because it doesn't really make much difference to the world.
