  1. Compination of a couple of set pieces, a few from our attacking midfielders, Lambert and Osvaldo Now that we have a mobile striker, that can play off the ladt man we can arguably capitalise on winning the ball high up the pitch and transitioning quickly into an attacking area, the full backs overlap and provide width out wide which will put balls into the box for Lambert or osvaldo. Attacking wise we set up as so -----------GK----------- ----CB ---DM---CB---- FB-----DM---AM------FB ----AM----ST----AM----- But it obviously looks a lot prettier, and obviously it doesnt always happen that way but essentially thats the transition This is also how we press high up and attempt to stiffle the counter attack, obviously you can see why the system is susceptible to the longball and probably why Wanyama is here
  2. Essentially we play with the two holding midfielders and then a forward unit of four who tuck in and attempt to constrict and press when the opposition have the ball, this stops the counter attack but also attempts to win the ball high up the pitch (though without pace its hard to capitalise) J Rod is really the only one that drives forward in wide positions, but essentially the width comes from the full backs. Not saying that the AMs never drift wide, just essentially this isnt part of their play.
  3. Simple really, we dont play with Wingers
  4. As far as I am concerned you were off 'sick' for the amount of time that you were absent and as far as I can see have made every reasonable effort to let them know the situation, for a start at what time did they reply to the email ? What time did they first try to ring you etc ? What is it you do BTW and does it have safety implications ? I.e heavy machinery, driving, working with energy etc You need to also think about their arguements, for example could you have phoned them at 6 o'clock etc ? Could you have left a voicemail ? Obviously you have not had a disciplinary hearing yet so make sure your union rep is back and you have representation when it happens, also you were not disciplined in the hearing you have already had ?
  5. Motorised scooters are mopeds 9 Oh I have another one, Hampshire league making me play saturday AND monday this weekend

  7. Id be interested to hear your thoughts on what Im about to say TBH but talking re the WBA game; It highlights to me what the need was to get a front man in that can run off that last man, pick up through balls and be available for when we win that ball high up the pitch. As good as Lambert is, and he is very good, he isnt that man, and despite being very much stronger defensively then the way we started last year against WBA we showed the same lack of cutting edge at the other side of the pitch. If it wasnt for that penalty we would have drawn or lost. And for this reason Im very happy we now have a player of Osvaldos quality. Im not even going to go into the tactics of involving Lambert in the team, ive done that to death so regardless of where we 'fit' lambert (or not as I suspect) its imperetive we play Osvaldo up top to turn the pressure we create into chances.
  8. I knew you'd bite adrian but I didnt realise you'd get annoyed about it, sorry bud FWIW if we would have played one of either Lampard or Gerrard instead of attempting to accomodate them both we would have had much more success. You know my thoughts on who I would pick, but either way, with Scholes, Gerrard and Lampard at your disposal it shows up what a waste of talent the England managers at the time subjected us to.
  9. A good motivator and a decent bloke, plays some good football but also makes some strange decisions. I think he is a great manager in the lower leagues and NPC but the prem came too quick for him. He also needs to get his head around the top level player market as his targets and aquisitions were just not good enough. All in all he will be a consistant prem manager within 5 years I reckon.
  10. Steven Gerrard making 88 passes and 3 set up chances for his teammates ? But all he does is run around a lot, ruins the organisation of the team and doesnt keep possession well.
  11. He had a decent game by his standards, but I saw enough last year to be a little worried, truth be told I think he is ok backup, but Id still be far happier with a better standard of CB if one is available. Jos, I disagree entirely, when I watched him play on the surface I think he looks like he was doing a decent job but realistically I think his positional play is diabolical, as is his distribution. I lost count of the amount of times Yoshi had to bail him out and essentially get dragged out of position due to his positional ineptitude. In short.... Im not a jos fan
  12. We have That said Im not massively bothered if we sign Sinclair or not, of course he is a decent player and will definately add something to the team but I do think we have good options there anyway and honestly believe, from what I have seen a heard from the training ground, that Isgrove will make good strides this year. A CB would impress me more though, think beyond Yoshi and Lovren we look a little weak.
  13. Until he fails or is sacked at which point he becomes a bungling, non english speaking, clueless bumpkin
  14. There is, although it is obvious that we have a clear strategy and a real desire to progress but some of the talk of overtaking Arsenal is madness. Even overtaking Everton, had Moyes still been there Id have said was silly. The reason I have said we could finish above them is as much down to how I percieve Martinez' impact as our own signings. The future is certainly bright, and we have a chance, a real chance of the Europa league now we have a striker to fit MoPo's system, but as I said before, top four is way off, look at the 6 teams who have achieved it in the ladt 20 years.
  15. Yeah definately
  16. Funny, thoughy in cases such as this you could not start a new job until payment was settled ? And last I heard payment had been settled ?
  17. Exactly, the man doesnt know how to defend.
  18. For a clapper I try to be realistic and ignore sentiment bazza, Id have thought people would've realised that by now
  19. You'll be surprised what players out of contention accept in a WC year !!!
  20. Everton yes, Arsenal no. Wenger will sort things out I expect, if he doesnt he is gone
  21. I said this up the pub last night after training, looking at it I think that Everton could finish bottom half this year, with or without Baines and Fellaini, and that is down to Martinez.
  22. Did you even read the thread ? Or what I was actually replying to ? Or even that I have already answered the ops questions ?
  23. The coaching set up here is arguably as good as thr bigger clubs these days, certainly the way our academy has been working displays this more than anything. He is young and getting plenty of game time, we are ambitious and constantly trying to improve, the team spirit is very good as is the area. Poch is arguably (along with AVB) one of the top upcoming young managers in europe IMHO and we will be lucky to keep him long term. I have no doubt that Shaw will leave eventually, but for the moment he is in the right place IMO.
  24. Theres a lot of ignorance there Wes to be honest, as much as I am an optimist and probably labelled a happy clapper its hard to say we are going to get into the CL without spending mega bucks AND keeping hold of our best players. The only two teams that have managed to break into those top four spots recently are Spurs and City, displacing Liverpool and Chelsea, when you look at it that way you can see where the sceptacism comes from
  25. Nah Hypo that was from the mirror....... Ill get my coat
