With respect chapel I think the likes of spain, barca and many other midfield maestros that playing in midfield does not mean you need brute strength. Wilshere certainly doesnt have that. Tenacity and the right attitude yes but certainly mot brute strength

No not at all, abd to be honest if anyone believes you only look at a sungle player or do one single deal at a time in football than you are clueless DP would be a decent signing, and if a defensive option was available I feel we would look at it. Id be very surprised if we are not already looking at potential targets in Jan in case we decide they are required

The more I have been thinking about it the more I think this is a coaching issue, Fonte and Fox were poor defensively but surely with better defensive organisation it would have been far better. The way I saw it yesterday the zonal marking didnt work, we didnt really crumble in open play, we defended the box pretty well but failed at set pieces, I cant remember the goals against city but if memory serves at least the 3rd was indirectly from a corner. The zonal marking isnt working as we have coached it so far, but hope springs from the fact we restricted both united and city to longish shots and set pieces. Funnily enough I thought that aswell, the zonal marking crap certainly didnt help. If it wasnt for our ten minute capitulation I would probably say he did ok. They were restricted to scoring from set pieces. At first I thought he failed to pick up RVP for his 3rd but just like Rio he wandered into the box unchallenged from the edge. Tbf to him, and I am more than happy to jump down his throat if i feel he is being rediculously negative borderline trolling, I have not seen too much today that isnt just opinion. If his posts merit it than fair enough, but dont just bash him for no reason. I can see the merit in his lack of defensive options theme he has got going on right now, not that I 100% agree with what he feels the gravity of the situation but nevertheless can see his point

Spot on Just got in and the highlights were on sky again, rewound the 3rd goal a few times... Again and still for the life of me cannot understand how Guly managed to come out with the criticism for it ! Jesus christ As per his defensive header you are spot on Minty, if you have actually played the game surely you could see thats the best place he could put it unless you seriously believe he could somehow power the header out for a throw in ? He could have headed it for a corner I suppose, no doubt he would have been blamed for that too If you want to see a truelly terrible defensive header compare it to Foxs against city. My take is everyone was dissapointed and needed someone to blame and personally I think we need a decent defensive coach

Agreed, would he be a good signing ? On reduced wages I can see it, I dont know how fit he is atm. Not exactly what we need AFAIK but could help the youngsters

SaintBobby makes some V good points And every team more or less tried to do business on the last day, I do agree with Alps as far as SAF is concerned in his T dealings but he is really the only manager who consistantly manages this and is V good at it to his credit. Personally I think the TW should end before the season starts.

I would rather we signed the correct players instead ofa scattergun approach that could cost us financially AND on the pitch, lets face it you do t play against RVP every game. We all know we needed defensive options, wehave the CB weeanted, perhaps we need a LB too, who we went foron two occasions. Stop dramatising it, Yoshida has not playedyet and we have played probably the 1 & 2 teams this year and made them fight for it

I sort of agreed with punch and Lallana, they were knackered so can see the merits there, Guly has more defensive attributes to JP aswell. We needed Lambert to stay on IMO though, Mayuka would havebeen an effective outlet if we could have got the ball to stick up there. It wasnt the subs that lost itfor us though, it was more a complete implossion at the back and the fact that nobody had an answer to Scholes calm yet decisive passing

Scholes shows the importance of experience in the middle, prowsey will improve, playing these two games has certainly done him no harm. Its great he is getting recognition, I justhope we can keep him. Must admit Ive not heard too many outside club compliments about him.
