Agree, thought Ings had a decent game to be honest! In fact, attack wise everyone was pretty good. Yes there was the usual Shane Long open goal miss but we scored 3 and could have had several more. It's at the other end we need to focus most attention on in terms of improving in the summer (although accept we also need another striker due to Ings injury concerns). It certainly would have helped if Long hadn't missed an open goal in the first half but the primary problem is how fragile we are defensively and how easily teams can open us up. We scored 3 times yesterday at home which should be enough to get the 3 points. Sent from my Moto G (4) using Tapatalk

This. It really is not a fitness issue, definitely more to do with mentality and the basic defensive abilities of our players. It will only be fixed by recruiting better quality and more mentally tough players in the key defensive positions. Sent from my Moto G (4) using Tapatalk

Whilst Boufal has obvious talent I'm far from convinced that he is suited to Ralph's high intensity pressing style or indeed the premier league. Suspect Ralph will take a proper look at him in preseason though so a lot will depend on Boufal's attitude then and how much he really wants to be a success in England. Sadly, the reality is that if and when one of the top 6 come calling for him, he will most likely be on his way. If anyone should know about this reality, it's us! At least most of the top clubs seem relatively settled with their current managers though. Probably only Chelsea that may make a change in the summer and I would hope that it may be a little early for Ralph to be in the frame for that job. Just watched the OS highlights. Our second goal was a thing of beauty, great play between the front 3. Lovely pass by Ings, made by a great run inside by Redmond.

I think his performances when able to play suggest he’s well worth the money, the issue as expected is his injuries. I’m not so sure in the current market that it would be as easy as you suggest to find better alternative strikers at that price. Got any suggestions yourself? Remember how much we paid for Carrillo?!

There was a particularly shocking one last night in 2nd half by Valery where we had it near their corner flag and he just threw it straight out over the goal line nowhere near any of our players. WTF?

Not sure he could do a lot in that situation to be honest, he was left 2 on 1. If he committed himself to tackle Salah, he would have just slid Firmino in with a clear run to goal. Not disheartened at all by that, thought there were some really good performances on our side and that we had a good tactical plan that we stuck to pretty well throughout. Only disappointment for me was in the way we conceded that second goal. You just shouldn't get so easily exposed from your own corner. As someone else pointed out, that's happened a few times this season so there's something wrong in the positioning of our players in that situation that is leaving us too open. Apart from that thought we were very good tonight and you would expect us to pick up a decent amount of points between now and season end if we keep up that level. And that is exactly the kind of complacent view the club are likely to take in the summer, in fact they will probably see our improved form as a sign that they can sell a couple of the more successful players in the first team and replace with more youngsters! Our results under Ralph are much improved but I still think there are clear and obvious weaknesses in our team and squad that need addressing and there’s only so long that Ralph will be able to pull rabbits out of hats without help from the club in introducing more quality.

Vital win, especially with Burnley winning. Brighton now right in the thick of it if Cardiff make this a fight to the end. The last 20 shows we still don’t know how to see these games out though. There ought to be spaces to exploit when teams gamble and look for an equaliser but our players seem to lose their composure in these situations and just invite more pressure. Oh well we held out on this occasion and got the crucial 3 points which was all that mattered today. This gives us more of a free hit next Friday against Liverpool now. Would LOVE it if we could put the mockers on their title bid!

I would say that’s our strongest line up at present if we are going 4 at the back. The worry would be at the back so will be a good test for Bednarek and Yoshida. But hopefully with the extra body further forward, we can assert ourselves and pressure Brighton in their own half. Big game this so let’s go for it!
