The last verse could also be: Who's that team they call Southampton Who's that club that I adore They're the boys in red and white We hate Pompey 'cause they're ****e And we all know Redknapp is a crooked whore

The saviour Markus Liebherr went to Rome to see the Pope The saviour Markus Liebherr went to Rome to see the Pope The saviour Markus Liebherr went to Rome to see the Pope and this is what he said Who's that team they call Southampton That's the apple of my eye They're the boys in red and white We hate Pompey 'cause they're ****e And we all want Harry Redknapp just to die

If there's a free Yorkie on offer, I might come along and jump on the bandwagon.

Economic growth doesn't mean we're all better off. It just indicates that we all have more stuff. If only somebody could come up with a happiness index.

Place your bets. I'll go for Torquay.

Taking more than Leeds, Charlton and Brighton. We are so awesome. Go Saints superfans.

Shouldn't this be on the away forum? http://www.saintsweb.co.uk/forum/showthread.php?t=16739&page=2

The format is fine, but her bit just doesn't work. The anchor and Claridge play it pretty serious, but going to her for a 'mad' aside ruins the flow. She just needs to keep it a bit more serious. To the chap who complained about the 'shallowness' of the highlights, you have to remember that it goes on pretty late as it is. If they showed much more of each game, those of us who are liable to nod off on the sofa wouldn't be able to cope.

One in and three up from the bottom left corner. Think that makes me an anarchist.

I'm not sure you'd get along with these 'lightweights' who travel at sensible times. Can't wait for the cask ale crawl.

Abso-****ing-exactly. Nobody praises professional bookies and gamblers for creating lots of wealth.

Basically, Ryanair were shown up as the mugs that they are and are doing this publicity stunt to try to save some face.

I think the main point here is to emphasise that arguing for greater regulation of the capitalist system does not make you a communist, nor even a socialist. Even Hayek, a philosopher often held up as one of the right's greatest thinkers, admitted in The Road to Serfdom that a 'certain amount of socialism' was needed. Does that make him a communist? I would think not. Finally, to those who that capitalism provides us all with endless amounts of wealth, you need to understand that unregulated markets do not lead to a better society, they lead to a greater division between the rich and the poor. Aside from all this, money and stuff will not make people more happy. The chances are that all the stuff and your quest to get it will make you stressed. Once you get the stuff you want, something else will come along and you'll want that instead. Capitalism is based on this human weakness, which is why it will always be flawed.

I set up this amazing account at this amazing website. http://www.footballgroundmap.com/wilko I'm so cool. The answer is 32 out of 92 (plus Maine Road and Ninian Park). Slow and steady.

All other things being equal, of course I agree with you. It would be ridiculous to say anything else. However, the specifics clearly make it a more difficult question to answer. One wonders which jobs the Conservatives will be able to force people to take. It's all very well saying they will be able to get people off benefits and back into work, but, as all good Kenyesians know, cutting public spending is likely to reduce the number of jobs available, not increase them. At the moment, it's pretty difficult to get a job doing anything, so one presumes Dave and Gideon will produce millions of jobs on June 1 using a magic wand.

It staggers me how some people can argue against raising the threshold for 0% income tax. £10k a year is nowhere near a living wage. **** me, you'd struggle to rent a room, pay bills and and be able to buy food as well anywhere in the south of England on a wage of £14k. From the point of view of a young person trying to make their way in the world or a chav who can only hope to work for McDonalds, it just doesn't add up. As a former member of the Conservative party, I can tell you that the membership, including councillors and MPs, does not believe in helping the poor in any other way than forcing them to work, at all costs. The Conservative party is a murky place, which is obsessed with Europe and making sure big businesses can hire and fire everybody. Many of them are also more sympathetic to the views of their racist and homophobic European partners than they let on. In the past I have witnessed a Tory councillor describing one of my colleagues, who is of Indian descent, as 'your brown friend'. Even more shocking was when I was at a fundraising dinner, where somebody who stood as a candidate at the last election admitted he was a holocaust denier. This is what the Conservatives are really like, whether they will admit it or not.

CB Fry is pretty much on the money. My employer ran a similar football paper in a different part of the country. They stopped it and put all the content online instead. I imagine the echo might do this instead.

I agreed with you until you wrote this. Cameron and his band of Tories will not, I repeat NOT, do anything to stop bankers earning outrageous salaries. Whatever the Conservatives hint at or allude to, they will not do anything to **** off their mates in the city. They won't do anything to stop pubs from going out of business either, despite all their bluster. Saving pubs would entail regulating against Asda selling vodka cheaper than orange juice. They are the kings of the free market and care only about businesses making money, because that is how they see society progressing. It's time to wake up. They will say anything to get our votes, but, in reality, they will just let us all down.

Could not agree more.

How many old people do you think there are that live in huge expensive mansions? Most of them will probably be living in family houses that were purchased years ago for very little money. Of course it ruthlessly takes from the elderly. Let's take a hypothetical old lady, who lives in a house worth about £200,000. She bought it 50 years ago as a family home for a few thousand pounds. Her husband died and she relies on the state pension, with perhaps a little more that she has saved privately. At her age, moving just isn't an option. She is forced to pay the same amount as her neighbour, who is an accountant on, let's say £50,000. Tell me what is not ruthless about that. Tax is not just unfair to the old, it's also unfair to the young. Put yourself in the position of a young couple that is trying to fly the nest. Your combined income is abotu £30,000. You have no chance of saving for a deposit, so you settle for renting a flat. The flat is worth £150,000, but it's not yours and you're effectively pouring money down a drain by living there. Your neighbours, in the same house, are a professional middle aged couple who have a combined income of £100,000 and own their property. You have to pay the same amount of council tax as them. Tell me what is fair about that. I don't think either bungle or I would want the 'pips to squeak', as it were, but there has to be a fairer way to organise the tax system than this. With regard to the Tories specifically, they will try to paint themselves as being tough on the rogue bankers. However, it is worth noting that the thousands of poor and in some cases destitute people on incapacity benefits, most of whom are probably genuinely unable to work, were given specific warnings about how their benefits would be cut and they would be forced into any sort of work. The bankers, on the other hand, were told that George Osborne 'reserves the right to tax them' if their bonuses are excessive. He didn't say what was excessive and he didn't say how he would do it. This is because he doesn't intend to follow through his pledge, because he is a Conservative and, therefore, a king of the free market. With regard to the overall question of the choices available, the two main parties persist with petty arguments over the odd £3-4billion pounds. Here's a way to knock off tens of billions in one go - abandon trident. We don't need it and it won't help to protect us against the threats of the world in the 21st century. Here's another - abandon ID cards. We don't need them and they won't stop the thousands of terrorists who are all clearly trying to kill us infidels all of the time. Which party would do both of these things? Google it.

Sometimes I think that people's backgrounds are irrelevant. Then I see that the people who are rich tend to support political parties that wish to preserve their wealth and promote the rights of businesses over people. It is at this point that I think backgrounds do matter.
