Who's going for a season ticket next season?
RedAndWhite91 replied to SO16_Saint's topic in The Saints
Your 6 year old will look back on that when he is in his late teens and remember it fondly... I like nothing more than to reminisce about trips to the Dell, or coming round the corner and seeing St. Mary's all lit up, talksport on the radio, looking forward to my burger... Good for you, and your post bought back some memories! Back on topic: I will most definitely be renewing my ST, Championship, League One or League Two -
It was this kit that we played in when I became a Saints fan: The '95-'97 kit. I think I got the full kit in 1997 when I was about 6, no bullsh!t red and white stripes, and a proper collar. This is what we should have next year!

My Grandad had the same happen to him, I think he said. He used to go down Netley military hospital (a no bomb zone, due to the German POW's there) a lot and get sweets off the Americans, and he also used to go fishing off the pier there. Once, one of the flying boats was going up the river, and they threw a tin of sardines at him .

I just love it how you get people commenting saying how great he was. And they aren't Saints fans. I think most sensible people (Skate bastards excluded) agree he was a brilliant, talented player. One comment:"man iam dutch and i have never heard of this guy before. I've never seen someone shooting so good from great distance like him. He has a very special style right?" And another:"Legend is banned around so easily these days. I played Matt's top ten goals to a load of Dutch and Spanish guys the other month and to say their jaws hit the deck is an understatement. True Legend !!"

Why was Seaborne playing with blood running down his head, what happened to him?

I fall into the youngsters category, and would like to know what that tune is. I am in Block 1 on Saturday and would happily join in.

On MK forum there is a thread called 'dirty saints'. They hate us! However, one line of interest in the OP is something like "... lets get a thousand down there and lets get right behind them..." Good luck with that. Another thread says 300 tickets have been sold by them so far, and the OP expects it to rise to 450 on the night. That is absolutely pathetic on their part. We took 3000 to their place midweek, and they bring that shoddy excuse for an away support. Here is the 'let's all hate Saints thread' link as well: http://www.moocamp.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=35716 MK Dons: Nothing club.

Blackburn fan killed - by another Blackburn fan

Think you're the one looking like a prat - You said "Is it because you find it easy to call people names but can't back it up with sensible argument" after calling me a 'smartass'. EDIT: and now a prat. I was simply returning the compliment. I won't revert to name calling if you don't, mate. Ok. Reasons it is JOINTLY the players' fault: - They are on the pitch, making the passes, delivering the set pieces, defending our goal, banging them in at the other end. The manager isn't out doing that during those vital 90 mins. He can shout on the sideline, make the subs, but he isn't out there. - Their responsibility is to win the games, that is why they are paid all that money. - The manager (who, yes, it is PARTLY his fault as well, re-read my previous posts) brings those players into the team because they are deemed the best available players. Therefore, as the best available players, they have to get out there and do the business. - They train all week in anticipation for 90 minutes of League football, it's their job to get out there and compete, battle, and ultimately win. - As an example, and a pretty sh!t one due to my tiredness, if a player misses an open goal (and they've all done it, no matter how good) is it their fault or the managers fault? That miss could change the game, they could go on to lose, and no doubt the manager would get the blame. Reasons it is JOINTLY the manager's fault: -The reasons you mentioned, tactics, motivation, etc. I agree with you on that. All I said at the start was that the manager cannot take 100% of the blame. The players have to hold some responsibility as well. I'd say it was 60/40 in my opinion. Yes, some of AP's selections/tactics/subs this season have been baffling. I've been there. Out of 28 games I've missed 5 this year, I've seen it. Anything else I haven't answered, I'll happily answer.

Just looked at the betting slip blu-tacked to my wall. "Portsmouth to be relegated from the Premier League 09/10 season". If do go bust, what happens with my bet? If they don't go bust, I will wish I had put more than £3 on, FFS.
-
Alright smartarse, I didn't say the manager was completely void of blame did I? The manager isn't on the pitch putting the ball in the back of the net, that is the players, so they have to take some of the responsibility. Avram Grant is a proven PL and international manager, and Pompey are sh!t, is it completely his fault? Nope, it's not is it.

Mark Lawrenson on MOTD just now: "The penny has dropped, Pompey are seriously relegated"

My Nan knew someone, before he died, who was at Dunkerque and he wrote a book about it which was published locally. It was called Bombed, Beached, Bewildered. I remember one part which I'll recall to the best of my memory. He was under some artillery fire I think, he jumped into a crater and landed on someone and they stayed there a while. He apologised, and said his name, introducing himself. The bloke replied, "That's alright, I'm [i've forgotten the name], and I play for Southampton FC!". Just one little anecdote from the War there.

Well, Pardew did spend however long it was up at Man Utd being tutored by Sir Alex 'I blame the pitch/ref/shirts/weather/linesman/stoppage-time/ball/other manager/the BBC/everyone except me' Ferguson didn't he...
-
Because you don't proof read. HTH
-
Wicked, all it said on BBC was: The Grecians equalised with their first effort at goal as Matt Taylor headed in a corner, while substitute Bertie Cozic hit a post in stoppage time. Credit to KD then.
-
Blimey, didn't realise they hit the post in stoppage time.
-
Cos I wasn't there.
-
+1 And lest we forget those who didn't make it home.

Because it is silverware, something we have been starved of for so long. It is also a trip to Wembley, and the players see it means a lot to the fans, for this reason. Luton had a massive points deduction, they still did well to get to Wembley and enjoy their day out in an otherwise horrible season. JPT isn't pointless, we are League One now, and the whole point of this cup is to let these lower league teams, ourselves included, have a day out at Wembley and lift a cup, cos let's face it, no team from L1 or L2 is going to win a major cup anytime soon.
-
Why include the throwaway line then? I actually agree with what you put about the midfield - As someone who has only missed 5 league games this year, I know what you are on about. Some of his subs have been odd to say the least, and our midfield often does not fire on all cylinders every match. Fair point. And for the record, the bit about 'Pardew out' was sarcasm. I like Pardew.

Fascinating thread.

I hope we win so we don't have to put up with the crap from certain posters afterwards. A trip to Wembley wouldn't be all that bad either I guess. Looking forward to it, COYS.
