  1. So basically if Labour does it, its fine. But the Tories should be condemned for the same thing? Not even slightly hippocritical
  2. Errrrm those with short memories? How about Tony Blair in the run up to the '97 election? Seem to recall he had many a celeb come out and support him? Even recall him having a meeting post election with all his supporters (including Noel Gallagher) at no. 10
  3. ....Steven Gerrard. Seems he has been a naughty boy if rumour is to be believed. Word doing the rounds is that Gerrard's Mrs. has been having it away with a Derby County player, Whilst meanwhile Stevie G himself has got a 16 year old girl preggers. Apparently, he is fighting to get a super-injuction to stop the press leaking this, as John Terry did. Would this see Gerrard lose his place as Vice-Captain, if it does come out to be true? We could also see the current captain lose the armband. My cousin is a journalist at the daily star, and interviewed a girl a couple of weeks back that was to have been having an on-off affair with Rio Ferdinand since they were 18. The story seemed to check out (according to the naked photo's of Rio on this girls phone), but only didn't get picked up due to the amount her and max clifford were after for the story.
  4. I quite like the idea of this sponsorless white kit and red sash. Especially if it is one of these Tailored Umbro kits, would certainly add to the retro feel.
  5. Once again, seems Pards has hit the nail on the head. The man is a class act. I struggle to think of a single thing he has said that I disagree with this season. IMO he is our signing of the season
  6. Did Beckford ever sign a new contract? If Leeds fail to go up, would it be worth offering him a cheeky contract? It's one im unsure of myself. Seems to have ability, and definitely a goalscorer at this level. But does seem to have a poor attitude. People's thoughts? Obviously if he has signed a contract extension please disregard this.

It's a good point, more people have died under communist rule than have died under fascist rule.
  8. Anyone else noticed, we have only had one manager survive 18 months since Strachan left, in 2004. And that was George Burley, and ok granted he made the play-offs (just), he was hardly a resounding success. Personally, Im glad to managerial merry-go-round seems to have come to a halt (for now at least), and the man in the driving seat is arguably the best manager we have had since Strachan. Onwards and upwards! COYS!
  9. I'll give you that, it does sound like nonsense. Basically Dune, you get multi-seat constituencies formed, so that each constituency is represented by several winning candidates. Each voter casts a vote in their constituency from a given list of candidates (as you would expect in FPTP), however they list in order of preference a number of candidates instead of just one. When a certain candidate receives enough votes to meet the quota to gain a seat, the remaining surplus votes are transferred to the next preference on electors ballot papers. Sorry, not trying to be patronising at all - just set it out as simply as I can.
  10. I'm sorry, but you are seriously thinking about missing Muse and Stevie on the Pyramid? You HAVE to see at least one of the headliners on the Pyramid, its such a special atmosphere. Don't get me wrong I do like Jamie T, but this is Muse headlining Glasto - this will be one you want to say you were at, as well as Stevie. Besides Jamie T tours every few months you can see him more or less whenever
  11. There have been rumours kicking around about this, so its unsurprising. Also rumours that Hot Chip are keen to do a duet with her, could be interesting. I caught Hot Chip in '08 and Wiley came out and did Rolex Sweep with them, was quite a fun little duo so why not?

Many countries who we provide aid to have either suffered a massive natural disaster (ie haiti etc.) who in times like these underdeveloped countries end up needing as much help as possible. Or would you rather thousands and thousands of people without food water or electricity went dying? Or would you rather give that £50,000 to kick some nasty johnny foreigner out of the country? A large proportion of the other countries we give aid to (ie African countries) are countries we owe a debt of duty to. Many of these countries are countries that we absolutely raped and pillaged during the expansion of the British Empire. WE stripped countries of large amounts of their natural resources and then imprisoned and sold their people onto slavery. But who cares about that? I'm proud to be British, bring back the empire! Right?
  14. even up the playing field everyone else in the league should get -10
  15. Haha unfortunately I don't own a ps3 myself, so that won't be a problem. Though I heard that it is pretty hard and time consuming!
  16. Or the amount spent on quit smoking kits or cancer treatment for tobacco related cancers
  17. fantastic choice
  18. One thing I have noticed though is that this is a criticism levelled at most managers at most levels. Fergie took stick for not bringing on Berbatov against Bayern the other week. I live with an Everton fan and he is forever bemoaning Moyes' subs, yet I don't see many questioning thee job he has done there. And well, finally, Rafa...need we say any more on that fat Spanish waiter? How that man has gone so far is beyond me
  19. ...oh sorry wrong board
  20. No! We don't need anymore of them foreigners coming in here and taking our cups!! This country is swamped already!
  21. It is a tricky one. It does seem a shame for a man that is portrayed as being a dignified man with a distinguished career to lose so much for such an act. Though I do agree there has to be some level of discipline. Lest us remember this is a war for 'hearts and minds'. War in modern days is a different creature to days gone by of 2 countries meet in a field and charge each other. Conflict in Afghanistan proves this. We are not fighting the state, we are fighting a subsect of the population - it is perhaps easier to think of this in terms of us going to war with a group like the IRA. Our aim in this war (whilst admittedly cloudy and unsure) is to rid the country of the influence of 'Al'Qaeda' (I have my reservations over using this term - as this is more a media creation) and win the 'hearts & minds of the general population. To have any hope of achieving this we must maintain the moral high ground. It is of vital importance that we can continue to be perceived as the 'good guys'. Therefore we can not allow ourselves to resort to barbarism and maintain dignity in the face of anything these groups have to throw at us. Also, I do doubt the credibility of this story. There (as to be expected with the mail) a stupidly high amount of bias and speculation, which if anything actually detracts from its ability to make the point it is trying to make. This section in particular I fell demonstrates this: Ekhlas was handed over to the notoriously corrupt Afghan police and released without charge. Perhaps not surprisingly, he could not be traced when his testimony was sought for Sgt Leader’s court martial. No one can be certain, but few doubt that the Afghan would have returned to the bomb-planting which apparently led to his arrest. As I said before this is wild and speculative, which, as a piece of journalism is a wreckless, lazy and dangerous thing to do.
