  1. This could go on a while dune...
  2. That's not the reality of what is going to happen. This is an idea hyped up by certain parts of the media to promote certain groups political objectives and sell newspapers. And is still more likely to be preferable to a ghost country empty of all business due people refusing to work for low wages. If there are no people willing to work for low wages business will not raise pay. It will move to where it can. Do you want to live in a country with no business, no industry and no employers?
  3. The boom's have been built on migrant workers. In fact any time this island has prospered it has been in large part thanks to us basically exploiting others. Whether it be cheap migrant workers or in days gone by rounding them up and using them as slaves.
  4. What? You have no idea what my attitude is. I'm not saying that at all. All I was saying is that what you are suggesting is more likely to be damaging to an already very frail economy.
  5. Hmmm, not really addressed the point I made. Migrant workers or not, companies are not going to hike wages simply to get British workers. If they can't find replacement workers at the same price they will simply shut up and relocate. This is damaging to the economy and has simple knock on effects.
  6. If by the market rate, you mean more money - in order to entice British workers. Can't really see howo this would work? Not allowing in migrants to work for low wages is more likely to result in companies moving to countries where they are able to pay less wages, as opposed to raising wages in order to attract british workers. This is going to be much worse for the economy.
  7. Both seem to be quite widely subscribed schools of thought. There is also an idea Bush orchestrated 9/11 as he was very insecure in his seat as President due to the whole recount debacle in the 2000 election. Post 9/11 this entire debate to his legitimacy vanished overnight. Im not claiming that this is neccessarily my view. But there are many that think this. With these sorts of theories and theorist (as those mentioned in the OP and Zeitgiest series of films) it has to be remembered they must be taken with a pinch of salt. They are often made by extremely intelligent and eloquent people, that are cherry picking facts/stats/accusations in order to present a case they wish to project. In my opinion whilst they often make interesting points they are regularly guilty of exactly what they are accusing other groups/governments of doing.
  8. Having looked at the performance of SWF's performance yesterday at the national i think they might just scrape it together
  9. People seem to be getting at this lady unfairly. i don't think she went running to the press, more the other way round. As has been mentioned the tour was a sell-out, and so there were most likely a lot of people and press people in the venue witnessing what happened. It was a significant part of the show, as im sure anyone who was there will vividly remember the unfolding of these events. She didn't go to the press moaning. and even what she said to the press wasn't that moaning. She said she was a fan of his (hence her being there) and enjoyed his dry, close to the bone style. However, (understandably) having a daughter with down syndrome she was offeneded by people making jokes about them. Personally I don't have much sympathy for the bloke. He's a vile, unfunny unintelligent comic who uses shock as a tool to compensate for a lack of ability to actually construct a clever joke. Unfortunately this seems to be a trait amongst certain comedians. I have no problem with dry humour if there is a point to it. But having attemptd to watch one of his DVD's I had to turn it off after 15 mins. He is ghastly simply for the sake of being ghastly. What is the point? I don't really buy that as a defence or get out clause, "I'm always horrible, if you don't like it shut up." Clearly he is a big man mocking those that are incapable of defending themselves or mocking back, and unfortunately in this case they most likely wouldn't even understand. Hats off Mr. Boyle, well done to you.
  10. I would. Really finding the idea of voting this year quite a dilemma. Though in fairness if i was to vote in my current constituency or home constituency (yes im a student) would make both little difference as both are strong holds of labour and tory respectively
  11. I Have to say I agree. I know this is a stance that seems to annoy certain posters or show a lack of ambition etc. But, if we cast our minds back 12 months when the magnitude of what lay ahead was all too apparent. Relegation loomed, and the prospect of starting life in League 1 looked all too likely thanks to the clubs financial situation. Add to that the incompetent fool in charge, who wanted to stay in charge (idiot). The squad was miles below the league standard, with overpaid, disinterested players look set to leave at the first chance. And a manager little fancied to be able to build a squad and command its respect. One year on, we are on sound financial footing with what seems to be a pretty good ownership/management structure. We have a Manager who is undoubted CCC quality (and in my opinion capable of Prem - I struggle to believe Dowie/Laws/Martinez are much better, if at all). We have a squad composed of players that have fast experience of CCC, or at the very least look to be able to make an impact in that league. If I was offered the opportunity of being in this position this time last year I would have taken it in an instant. Would you anyone really not have? Plus it sure makes for an interesting end to the season! COYS!!
  12. Eurgh ffs, Just when I thought I was out... they pull me back in
  13. Anyone else seen this? Seems quite a strange line up in my opinion http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/entertainment/8611997.stm
  14. No jack all bout the nags, have put a few EE's on some random horses simply to make watching it more fun. Ellerslie George Mon Mome Black Apalachi Dream Alliance Piraya COYH!!!
  15. Met Aaron Lennon in Nando's in Westfield last summer. Grumpy little git seemed far more interested in my (now ex) gf - who happenned to be a spuds fan. Also met Paul Furlong (he must have played in the prem at some point?) in Area in Watford a couple of years ago (i mean literally about 2/3), which was a bit wrong seeing as it was student night and he was most likely pushing 40. Didn't stop him having a crack with any girl that walked past, was pretty funny to watch - though I don't think my laughter was most welcome
  16. Very hard to pick favourite songs for me going to have a go at a top few (in no particular order): Pixies - Here comes your Man Talking Heads - Road to No Where The Cure - Boy's Don't Cry The Undertones - Teenage Kicks Arctic Monkeys - I bet you look good on the Dancefloor (honestly think this will be the teenage kicks of my generation) And my favourite band of all time, The Jam - In the City
  17. Interesting playlist. Not sure about the strength of the validity some of these additions are, though saying that I'm hoping on hope of all hopes that the Pixies do make an appearance.
  18. Talking Heads - Road to No Where
  19. Most admit. The Tory MP in my home constituency of Ruislip, Nick Hurd (son of Douglas Hurd) does actually seem a good bloke and interested in trying to help in the constituency. Fought hard to keep open the local cancer hospice and came over very well in the Expenses Scandal.
  20. Have never had one come to my door in my life. Though saying this I have lived in Ruislip - one of the safest tory seats in the country and now Leeds one of the Labour strong holds. Have done some voluntary work, including canvassing, for parties as part of my A-levels and degree. And can be an unenviable job.
  21. In which case I stand firmly by my previous comment. Oh to be a fresher again, how i envy you..
  22. If I remember correctly you are starting uni soon right? If thats an indication of your standards you are going to bloody love it
  23. Anyone else think that photographer may have a foot fetish?
  24. Just turned 21 in March, voted in the Euro's and locals before but never a General Election. As a politics student (if you hadnt already guessed) feel obliged to vote, perhaps this would feel less of a chore if I genuinely believed in/supported any of the parties/politicians.

This not completely known either way. There is no doubt people knew the Nazi's were up to some very nasty acts. However, it is debated to what extent they knew. As the line goes: "History is written by the winners", it looks bad on the 'winners' who for a significant period were happy to try and appease the perpetrators of such vile acts. Openly admitting they knew full well the true magnitude of the acts does look very bad on them. Whilst im not claiming they knew fully the entire extent of what was occuring, it seems hard to believe that no-body noticed entire Jewish communites of Jews simply disappearing. For example in Krakow, the Jewish community made up a significant proportion of the population. However they were round up in the ghetto's, before being deported to the neighbouring Auschwitz and Birkeneau. People will have noticed this, and it is extremely likely the Government officials of the allies will have been aware of such actions.
