  1. Lawks a mercy chums, don't let old man Liebherr find out we're signing that scruffy oik Thatcher, or we're all for the high jump and no mistake.:-\"
  2. Bon Voyage -have you turned the cat off and let the cooker out?
  3. Thar she blows Cap'n.:smt023
  4. FIFA, will you not replay the game? 'Ah, gowan, gowan, gowan, gowan, gowan' etc etc ad nauseum
  5. It was a small group of lads in the side terracing at BR. It's the first time I'd heard it and it was infectious and slightly rude, but each time it got more laughs (even the OB behind me were s******ing to themselves and people looking down from the grandstand). They kept it up for most of the game. Judging by the 'wetside/dryside' thread there were plenty of posters on here who must have heard it as well, so maybe we can cobble it together between us unless one of the group singing it can come forward with the lyrics Come on short-term memory, you can do it!!
  6. Bristol Rovers. I can only remember the first line which is... 'The Saviour Markus Liebherr went to Rome to see the Pope',
  7. One fine matchday, many moons ago, I stood outside the players entrance with my autograph book. When I asked you for yours, you said, 'hold on a minute, I've got to go back for my bag'. I'm still waiting, Ron.

  10. I would like to think that AP is already in that position and is actively enquiring after them - whomsoever they may be. The loan window closes on or around the 25th November, so, in theory, a player that he wants to buy, if available, he should be able to get as a loanee and then cough up for in January ie. he will not have to wait until the window to strengthen the team.
  11. Am I imagining things, or were we looking to buy him from Wimbledon, once upon a time?
  12. Whilst drinking ?dodgy? wine - Lemmy would be proud of you!!
  13. Agreed. If his personality is a potential problem, then it is for the club to manage that, and with what we know about ML's moral ethics, if he has Ok'd it then go for it.
  14. I agree, at times like this you can't beat a good old football cliche!!
  15. Thoroughly enjoyed it, and the other editions as well. The next one will be interesting as it was sabotaged by local kids at one point (00 scale railway from Barnstaple to Bideford along the old trackbed). My Scalextric memories are from my childhood in Singapore and constantly having to sand down the metal runners because the humidity out there constantly turned them rusty.
  16. I failed my Bobby Charlton degree because I couldn't pass the comb-over section of the course. Later on I took a Doctorate in MLT but again I failed coz I missed two penalties. Been practising my diving with a view to doing an Open University Didier Drogba City & Guilds.
  17. Remember seeing John Mayall's Bluesbreakers in there amongst others.
  18. I don't know about the rest of you but I've had a gutfull of overanalysing Sunday's result and am looking forward to Saturday. IMO there will be a massive reaction and a good home win. Uncertainty will now lie with Norwich as they will be mentally expecting us to tear into them. They will be right, we will. 3-0 Saints COYS
  19. Another way of saving money on away games is to drive a part of the way and then get the train. I've discovered that I can save £10 getting to and from Taunton to SMS by driving to Yeovil junction. Obviously you have to weigh up the fuel etc outlay but this is an option, especially if you are sharing the car and splitting the costs. At the moment I am experimenting with driving to Bristol or maybe Birmingham for the Hartlepool game.
  20. In the interests of not dwelling too long on yesterdays unfortunate happenstances, you may wish to indulge yourselves and muse upon the thoughts of the Norwich hoardes and how that result has affected their perceived prospects against us, and, indeed, Brighton, whom they entertain next week. http://www.pinkun.com/cs_pinkun/cs/forums/1901577/ShowPost.aspx http://www.pinkun.com/cs_pinkun/cs/forums/1901485/ShowPost.aspx http://www.pinkun.com/cs_pinkun/cs/forums/1901253/ShowPost.aspx http://www.pinkun.com/cs_pinkun/cs/forums/1901261/ShowPost.aspx
  21. Tickets now on sale
  22. My personal legend, with due deference to the discussion of criteria above, is John McGrath. Whenever I think of a Saints centre -half, his name appears on the big screen in my head, flashing on and off in bright red. RIP mate.
  23. If Bill Shankly or Alf Ramsey had said that, it would be one of those footballing phrases that pundits and journos would reel off ad nauseum. Spot on.
  24. I wouldn't say it was shocking, but I'm afraid it has become very noticeable over a number of games now, especially when it comes to him trying to contain marauding wingers. I would like to see him just as a midfielder so he can concentrate more on building attacks and crossing etc etc, and also get himself closer to the penalty box for longer periods. On that subject, Murty is playing tonight in a reserve game. http://www.saintsfc.co.uk/page/ReservesNews/0,,10280~1876762,00.html
