What's your opinion of the timing of all this? Isn't this a stupid time to be booting out a manager after the promise we've shown recently? ****ing huge gamble if you ask me.....

Looking back two years ago, Pardew's sacking had us puzzled, but it's a different scenario than it is now. That was early in the season, in a completely different league. Right now we find ourselves in a very delicate position perched above the relegation zone, but playing well, good recent results, good momentum etc. If this was destined to happen anyway, why not get the dirty business over with next summer? Why now?

Yes, a good evening last night after work for my son and I. We were ecstatically surprised with the turnaround in the second half. Didn't think it would happen - not because Chelsea were any good but because we were unable to expose them in the final third during the first 45. Fantastic result and two excellent goals. HD makes all the difference, their SD is so nasty. I'd have liked them to improve on it next season, only they won't be doing it next season. It's a shame, it'sperfect the way it is (scheduling wise), I like having all games available to record and becuase of the time difference, I don't give a ****e if it's live or not.

Finally watched Control. Very well done but grim, well it would be. Great companion to 24 hour party people

Muse are coming to town in March and whilst, not really a fan, would like to see them live before I die. Did anyone ever catch Acid Jazz's Corduroy live in the late 90's? Complete cheesefest, but silly fun. I never used to go to many gigs but for some reason, watched them about five times in the space of a year. Then they ****ed off. I can sort of see why TBF...

No, that was Manila Sky. Dark knight rises was quite a lot of fun if not as solid as the preceding two.

I was in Lisbon for 2001 NY. Really good night out. We were down on Alcantara Mar by the bridge. Great fireworks and nice bars along there. Might pop south to a 'locals' casino for drinks and fireworks if I can be arsed.

I have not read any of Tolkien's work, but am I correct in thinking that stretching one book through 9 hours of screen time is pushing it a bit? I saw the Hobbit the other day and whilst I liked it a lot (and look forward to the others), was not blown away as I was with the Fellowship. Seemed a bit flat, and I don't know if that's a combination of the material or whether Jackson's heart is not into it as much as the other three.

Homeland season finale just finished with a bang. It's still decent and fresh and I enjoyed this season a lot. As others have mentioned, it will run, and possibly run for god knows how long. I hope it doesn't over extend itself. Speaking of which, about to sit down to the season finale of Dexter.

I think we can at least expect a reinstatement of Clinton's assault weapons ban stemming from these recent events. This 1994 ban had a shelf life of 10 years only...f..u..c..k.. knows why it was never made permanent or instantly renewed. The president made a very touching speech tonight at the town of the massacre. He made several strong hints that things would change. Let's hope so. He should be able to run with something pretty 'radical' now, unlike after the Batman shootings which came so close before the election...
