  1. The lad needs to see if he can cut it in the Prem or not now, another loan would be ridiculous for him and for us... We should give him the chance. I have seen enough of him to think that given the right Coach and a bit of belief in him he can make it with us.
  2. Certainly a very good window so far, probably our best since 2014. Gunn will be our number 1 keeper in pretty quick time I would suggest, and is a very good capture for us. Vestergaard should plug those holes in defence where we were weak last year, and it looks as though he has some leadership qualities about him too which are also much needed. Armstrong looks a steal at £7m, and just the type of player we have been missing since Lallana jumped ship. Moi looks a very exciting prospect and should provide a productive outlet that will worry defenders as opposed to Boufal for instance. Very pleased so far.

I would also suggest he might be considering playing Redmond in a more forward orientated role this season and of course Gallagher may now be getting the opportunity. He appears to be in Hughes plans.
  4. He has given us 4 good years with bits of inconsistency amongst moments of magic. On the whole he has been a good servant to the club and leaves us in the right manner, and at the right time for him too. Good luck Dusan and Thanks
  5. Can he score goals? Yes Does he get forward and work hard? Yes Is he value for money ? Potentially Yes He has a bit to do to make up for his last average season, but coming to us could well be the impetus to return him to his form of 2016/2017. It is a low risk and potentially good acquisition and I would welcome him here.
  6. Glik is their leader at the back, but is currently carrying an injury. I would not be surprised if Jan got a start or 2.
  7. Chuffed for the lad, and his inclusion will be to our benefit too. He looks like a good acquisition now he has had his chance.
  8. Interesting.. Might be an inexpensive and decent acquisition. I just look at how well some of the "lower tier" German players adapt and do well - Pascal Gross springs immediately to mind.
  9. Yes and that all turned out really well. Also teams like Huddersfield had pretty much sewn up all their summer business by then and were getting ready for a good pre-season. There is no reason I can think of apart from Bunsen and Beaker either not wanting too much managerial input into their domain, or they are just plain incompetent to the point of lackadaisical. I had earnestly hoped that by getting the manager in place early, it would give a settled air to the club after last seasons horror show, and allow us to focus on a really good pre-season and squad construction. The fact that Ralph even stated that Sparky "fitted like a glove" should be good reason to gt him on board quickly. Why the hell is the hold up.. I really do not trust those two berks to get anything right - very frustrating.
  10. I do hope Cedric stays but should he move on, then I would be pleased to see Kaderabak of Hoffenheim as a replacement. What's this young CB for RB Salzburg, Carleta-Car like? I see he has made the Croatia squad and is seemingly well rated
  11. I agree with you. Rowett was done bloody quickly given he was only managing a play off team last week with aspirations towards the Prem. Same with **** Emery who came completely out of left field, and just been appointed very quickly. The Gooners I work with never knew he was even on the radar - The inside news from their club was Arteta all the way. Pellegrini seemed to take only a few days too to get appointed. I have no idea why the hold up with Sparky is, given as you say he has already been at the club for a while, he is clearly rated by the players and most supporters want him in too. What is it with Krueger and Reed that make them fanny about so much? This is not just with Sparky, but they have plenty of previous where they dither and delay and before you know it, the chance is gone. Take for example the Fonte situation where in the end we had to rely on the free agent market to cover a gaping hole in our defence, the Koeman situation, the sacking and replacement of Puel, the much delayed sacking of Pelligrino and this is among many others. If I had confidence in our board I would not sound off and would patiently wait knowing it would all be sorted. But with this lot of daydreamers who appear to have all the drive of a Trabant, I fear we will end up running to catch up again.
  12. That together with fannying around for much longer than needed, so we have less time to settle and prepare than we should do. If Cortese was nothing else he was decisive, whereas Dr Bunsen and his other Lab co-horts just seem to have their fingers crossed and wait and sees what turns up. Sparky seems a good fit for us and he will provide a discipline and organisation we have so lacked since RonKo left us after being tired of Bunsen and Co's fannying around. He is well capable of building a good well drilled squad, playing some decent football again and getting us into Europe. I understand people say we must be patient, but over the experiences of the past 2 seasons I have no faith in Les/Lesley and his mates to deliver.
  13. Agree, Cortese was anything but a charlatan. Not only did he persuade Markus to buy us, he had energy and plan to drive the club forward in a manner that few else could or would without Middle eastern money. Compared to the array of wet fannies we currently have "driving us" at the same speed as Miss Daisy, give me the Cortese way anytime.
  14. As the so called "DOF", one can reasonably assume that it is his philosophy that has resulted in us playing such durge, boring football over the past couple of seasons and getting in completely unsuitable managers to supposedly "coach" his strategy. We all now how well that went... One can only assume he wanted Sparky to continue with his revolutionary brand of football and Sparky is quite rightly telling him to get Stuffed. Therefore lance the boil - Les must Go !
  15. Please No he is ****e! Andy Carroll has the silky touch of Messi compared with Dost
  16. Could not agree more. Why on earth repeat the carnage of the last 2 summers when we can appoint a good manager, who has the support of the players and a vast majority of the supporters, early. Delay brings inertia and chaos as we know only too well from the past 2 summers and it would be far better to break that habit and get settled early on, so we can go about a pre-season in a planned and orderly fashion. Of course this is down to Dr Bunsen Honeydew and Beaker (Thanks Alps ) who have a track record of keeping their thumbs up their arses for longer than they should, but this to me is a no brainer. After this seasons trials and tribulations, we need to settle, plan well, construct the squad early, get really fit and be ready for the start of the season. No more last minute rushes please...
  17. Hopefully Les won't do his usual fannying around and get Sparky nailed into a 3 year contract this week!
  18. We must hold on to him. Under the right management he is a match winner and by far the most creative player we have. Hopefully he is now playing under the right manager.
  19. Pellegrino was asked to do a job way above his capability. He had no clue as to the demands of the premier league, and did not learn as he went along either. Not a motivator, not a tactician, not a clue. In saying that, I don't blame him I blame Les for appointing him in the first place and keeping him in post 5 months longer than he should have done.
  20. £2, 7/- and 6d I would think... I see somebody has mentioned Bas Dost above. What is the obsession with this guy? I saw him play at Wembley and he could not trap a bag of cement and had the turning circle of a brontosaurus.. He really is not worth pursuing.
  21. We only bought him to provide Pell a statement of support at the time. Obviously Sparky does'nt fancy him as he has been pretty much overlooked since the first game of his tenure. Best he gets shipped out as he is'nt going to pull up any trees here.
  22. at Dr Bunsen and beaker !! As for Sparky, this is the first time in well over 18 months I can recall us settled, enthusiastic and have some direction and that is down to him. I would get him signed up in a heartbeat.
  23. Joe Bryan at Bristol City... Very impressive left sided player
  24. Yep, Carey and Bryan would be 2 excellent acquisitions for us regardless of what division we are in.
  25. Bednarek has great potential. He has found his feet and is performing really well in a pressure situation. I think he is much more than a squad player now and a really realistic first team contender.
