Nigeria banned from international football for 2 years..
JackFrost replied to bungle's topic in General Sports
Indeed and it's why Togo initially got banned from playing in the next AFCON although I believe due to the nature of the reasons they were reinstated. Iran have also been suspended, apparently when Mahmoud Ahmadinejad attempted to include himself in an Iran squad for a meaningless friendly -

As they have Enyeama as their main keeper one of the few decent African goalies, this means we'll see more eccentric goalkeeping at the next AFCON -
If the sufferers and their GPs knew how to the vast majority of them would.

I don't know WS's previous but I don't see a wind up here at all. I think there are some valid points A little overstated perhaps but I'm not exactly appreciating the "It's perfectly safe to drive at 41 mph in a 30mph zone" and "I couldn't have learnt my lesson not to speed because I've only been caught 3 times" attitude of the original poster either. If anything the wind up is there IMO if there is a wind up at all

I think DBP should go back to presenting kid's TV -
I'm not renewing my subscription, i only average 3.5 posts a day anyway. The new layout did confirm that decision though

Blimey they're still going? Where do they hold their meetings now, a telephone box? -

Why don't they have something like Hawkeye at Wimbledon, and each team are allowed 2 challenges in the game for instance? -
Of course the police are chasing statistics, and want to penalise anyone who does more than 1 mph over the speed limit. I got caught 20 years ago, about a year after passing my test, learnt my lesson and never been caught again. There's a simple solution believe it or not, don't speed! I and several people I know (almost all male blokes under 25 this has happened to) have been followed for long distances by police cars on Friday and saturday nights, a couple have been pulled over and given a warning for going a couple of mph over the limit, the rest have deliberately driven slightly under and not been pulled over. One time a mate of mine gave me a lift back home once on a saturday evening. 5 mins into our journey a copper began tailgating us and at the next set of traffic lights a car swerved across in front of him, he braked sharply and the copper went straight into the back of us. Copper started ranting at him and fined him, my mate appealed and a witness statement from me and another bloke later, he got a letter through the post 6 weeks later saying the copper had been "suspended indefinitely from duty".

LOL, try telling that to the judge.
-
I'd have seriously considered appealing that
-
Should have learnt after the first time I'm afraid, as for the red light I'm glad I wasn't anywhere near you at that time.
-
is it true they allow you 10% over the limit due to varying speedometers?

LOL so you're suggesting a slow death sentence for anyone who gets made redundant in a recession, or anyone who can't get a job. Well I suppose it would bring our population down Like I've already pointed out I know quite a few healthy, motivated willing-to-work, highly qualified individuals who have been made redundant and have been on the dole on average for around a year. A mate of mine got made redundant from a very well paid/respected job recently after working over 25 years, he has quite a few degrees/qualifications, endless experience, is a very clever bloke and is desperate for a job. Last week Tesco's turned him down, saying they appreciated his application to stack shelves but they currently weren't recruiting. Like I've said, it's all very well to encourage so many million off IB and into work, but where are the jobs going to come from?? If motivated people with endless qualifications/experience can't find jobs, how the hell are ex scroungers going to find anything?
-
Problem is, it's further proof that cheats do prosper
-
or Messi, Tevez and Di Maria lol Brazil look very good, they look very clinical. Their finishing is lethal at the moment
-
Now this is a difficult one, of course there are many scroungers who claim they suffer from depression who are actually bone idle but there are many genuine cases as well. Sufferers can struggle to learn/get confused when learning everyday practical tasks, have very low confidence and self esteem etc. There are many sufferers of depression who have to work fairly slowly and methodically because of the poor medical state of their concentration, and are then accused of underperforming/poor work rate. Confidence gets even lower etc. etc. The best way to help cure depression is working, unfortunately it's usually the clinically depressed who are the first to be shown the exit door. A very vicious circle. Besides it's all very well for Osborne getting so many million off IB and into work, where the hell are all these jobs gonna come from??! There are many healthy, highly experienced and motivated individuals who can't find work, let alone the scroungers.

England starting XI for Euro 2012 qualifiers
JackFrost replied to saints_is_the_south's topic in General Sports
Your obviously too young to remember the season we got relegated from the PL, when Peter Crouch became a very effective target man for us. -
11 world class players don't necessarily make a good team. (And we don't even have 11 world class players) I think we had better players on the pitch against Germany, difference is they were a far better team and actually gave a sod
-
Who actually runs the England football team ?
JackFrost replied to alpine_saint's topic in General Sports
Completely agree. 3 things run the England team. 1) The FA 2) The English Media 3) The player's obscene wages The 'manager' is nothing more than a figurehead. -
We could have Roy Hodgson as manager, or Guus Hiddink as manager and it wouldn't make a blind bit of difference. Sure Capello has made mistakes but if he can't get those prima donnas motivated and playing with some heart then no one can. So long as the players have 100 grand going in to their bank account, performing for England will be an unwanted effort, not a privilege. Not one of them takes responsibility and watchin them play is watching 11 players passing the buck. Call me cynical but IMO in the last 10 years at least the FA appear to be picking the team, and they are picking the team based on how many replica shirts they will sell. Capello would have dropped the underperforming players by now, it doesn't make sense. He is not afraid to upset egos, but there are certain players like Lampard, Rooney, Terry, Rio etc. will start every game when fit no matter how badly they play, (regardless of how good Crouch's goalscoring record is) Sven & McClanger appeared to do what they were told. I personally think Sven had no say in Theo going to the 2006 world cup. The England team have turned into a marketing product and IMO the manager is largely there for the ride. . . .
-
He's only just signed a new contract so if he is sacked he'll get a massive pay off
-
Doesn't matter which manager we have, we need a massive culture change before anything else.
-
I called it from half time. We were outclassed. Simple as that. The goal was still stuck in the England players minds and it showed. Can you imagine us defending like that against Messi , Tevez etc.etc.? They'd have torn us apart. Germany have a decent team, not as good as the South American teams but they are very good at what they do and what they have at their disposal. If we'd have been defending a dangerous free kick with a 2-1 lead we'd have got all 11 players behind the ball, hoofed the clearance, invited more pressure. The Germans were looking at where our players were to get players ready to counter attack before we'd even swung the ball in. They do their homework and always get the job done. The English team is run by greed, self indulgence, reputation and hype and little substance. The England team is a marketing product. Just because the players earn 100k every week they think their world beaters and sod putting any effort in. And we aint getting to any world cup semi finals unless it changes. One moment summed it up perfectly. Instead of bringing on our most potent goalscorer in the last couple of years (Crouch), we went 4-1 down and brought Emile Heskey on to save the day!!!
-
I can see the Germans winning this 4-1 or 5-1 if Capello doesn't get the dressing room together. If we decide to compete in the second half we have half a chance. If we decide to moan, get frustrated and don't concentrate the Germans will overrun us
