  1. LOL at the people who think Cameron will be any different from the current lot. Then again, Cameron is a former PR man so he will convince a lot of people.
  2. Because we're talking about Claus, and Claus is what most Saints fans would call "a legend". Maybe not in the same "legend" status as MLT or Ted Bates but still a player who was loved here by many. I I'm pretty surprised by this story, if true I'd have thought Claus was someone "who'd have had more sense". I suppose I'm weighing up the likelihood of this story being true and my take on Claus as an individual, with the Echo's reputation for providing accurate journalism.
  3. Seems to me that the vast majority of Saints fans are firmly behind AP, and it seems a minority haven't learnt from history, and think anything other than promotion this season is a failure and AP should be sacked. To me, as long as we have a mathematical chance of the play-offs we should push for them. If we don't make the play-offs this season (which is increasingly likely) then the rest of this season is almost an irrelevance to me. The key thing is NEXT season. We have to be in or very close to the automatic promotion spots next season, and that has to look a likely proposition by Christmas at the latest. If we're languishing in mid table at this time then I will start to understand the calls for AP's head. I think what a lot of people are worried about (and understandably so) is getting into another 'George Burley situation', where we have one of, if not the best squad in the league and have a complete tactical numpty in charge, guiding us to scraping into the play-offs, more via luck than judgment. Our squad is heading towards one of the best in the league at the moment, but next season 2 (minimum) of Leeds, Charlton and Norwich will be in the championship and they will be replaced by the likes of Peterborough, Plymouth etc. who IMO are worse teams. Back Pardew to take us up next season and then come Christmas, we'll see how we're doing then. Promotion next season will ever be so slightly easier with a united fan base. . .
  4. Yeah not much. Actually if there was minor booing directed at Cortese I thought it more of a positive than a negative, because it was broadcasting a clear message to NC. If Cortese heard the booing he would have known why he had a few boos, and even if he didn't Mr Liebherr would have made it very clear. The reaction to ML told me that the fans are united and in full support of Markus Liebherr, and the reaction to NC told me that the fans are undecided about Cortese and didn't appreciate certain comments made by NC re: AP. I thought the fans that day made it very clear that the vast majority are fully behind Pardew and in MLT's words "if NC did anything stupid" (like sacking Pardew prematurely for instance) Cortese would make himself a very unpopular character indeed. Anyway I'm sure the embrace between NC and AP at the end was what every Saints fan wanted to see, not to mention the embrace between AP & ML.
  5. I personally didn't hear it. Ok so a section of the fans directed boos at Cortese. So what? Why do you think it is such an issue? If it had been all the fans in unison then there might just be an issue, fact is it was far from that.
  6. because 95% of the fans were silent when Cortese appeared on the screen, and a handful of the crowd booed the Carlisle fans for not continuing the Mexican wave. why are you ando others desperate to pretend it is even an issue..?
  7. So are our government or the EU going to ban us from calling it "The English Channel", and imprison us if we do? Until that happens the EU can call it the Sea of Turds for all I care, the phrase "Exploitation of a non-story for anti EU scaremongering purposes" comes to mind
  8. and sky are THE worst are making a mountain out of a molehill. Sky LOVE hype, whether it's football, darts etc.etc.
  9. I'd have stayed, although I suppose there is the element of Man City being a far better team than Burnley However I've seen us and other teams throw away similar leads many times. I remember going to a Port Vale match with a few of my mates in the mid 90s. In terms of how the game panned out, what happened there was exactly what happened here. http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/eng_div_1/8426500.stm
  10. you obviously weren't at the game then
  11. Probably the best post of this thread TBH
  12. What makes me laugh is that a lot of the "Pardew out" brigade were among the first to bash Lowe with the "so many managers in so many years" line. Whilst Lowe is totally irrelevant to this debate, it just highlights the delusion and short term fickleness of some of the people on here
  13. what interests me is that it seems to be only the Echo that has reported this story
  14. Just to confirm, this story didn't come around on April 1st did it?
  15. 428 posts on something that never happened. Only on TSF. . . . . .
  16. You beat me to it LOL
  17. I had a problem where the picture on my digital TV upstairs would break up or 'flicker' and be very jerky occasionally. Plugged it into the socket downstairs (both sockets are connected to the roof aerial) and it is always fine. It would never happen on any BBC or Sky channel and would only happen sometimes on any ITV, Channel 4 or independent channel (eg. Dave). The flickering would be affected if I moved the aerial cable around, and sometimes blue-tacking it in a certain position would solve it. I replaced the cable in the end with a new one and it has improved it a lot. It still happens occasionally but is nowhere near as bad as it was. By the way does anyone know if picture breakup/interference can be especially prone with TVs that have a built in freeview box?
  18. or Kerrea Gilbert the Arsenal RB?
  19. LOL I saw that. First time Kamara hasn't said "Unbelievable Jeff" at the beginning of a report in years. . . There was a funny one last week when Stelling mistakenly said Leroy Lita had scored an own goal playing for Boro, for his former club Reading when it was actually a own goal by Wheater. Stelling "Well I meant that, I was talking in ****ney rhyming slang, Leroy Lita = David Wheater"
  20. It's more of a strategic race than it is a on track race. It's not as exciting as it used to be in previous decades but it is certainly more exciting now than it was when Ferrari and the FIA were in bed together and Schumacher had a car a second a lap quicker than anyone else, needing just a stroll to win a race. Problem is now politics just dominates far too much
  21. I'm so glad you are not our chairman
  22. And??? What do you or Cortese want to do about it? 1) Get behind the players and AP for the rest of this and next season and see where we are then? 2) Cortese to start saying things again and causing more disruption behind the scenes? 3) Sack Pardew and go through the whole 'one step forward, 10 steps back managerial merry go round' again, and sinking us even lower? You got any better ideas? I'm not referring to you directly here, but it has amused me for years how many of the people who bashed Lowe with the "so many managers in so many years" line (albeit justifiably), are the first to call for a manager's head when their not doing an outstanding job.
  23. As someone who would be more than happy to back AP for a promotion challenge next season I encourage you to just sit back and see if you can work out why comparing the managerial records of Burley/Pardew with Lawrie/Bates is highly flawed. If you honestly can't work out why then I feel sorry for you quite frankly. You'll find one very good suggestion in the 2nd paragraph of delldays earlier post. (Post 52 of this thread I believe)
  24. downloaded a SNES emulator and played Top Gear, a car racing game released in 1991. Absolute classic, I still remember the sequel coming out in '93 and what a disappointment it was. Downloaded Starwing also, I remember being stunned by the graphics all those years ago when it first came out
  25. Beattie looked average when he played for England against Liechtenstein. He didn't look a threat all game and in his only chance hit the bar from 3 yards out. Until Lambert is doing what he is currently doing in the PL there is no debate
