  1. After my ex neighbour had his paypal account closed down, emptied of over 100 quid without any notice and never got his money back I refused to use it ever again. I'm afraid this was also more of a case of "final straw" than "knee jerk reaction", as I've heard numerous horror stories involving paypal without the need to use google.
  2. A common tactic. I remember someone I know who just dropped out of uni who paid via debit card for a TV licence, who was then automatically debited for the 2nd year without any knowledge of having signed up to a direct debit. Having left uni he didn't require a licence any more and asked for a refund. He had to get the uni to write to TV licencing to confirm he had left the university and everything , it was absolutely ridiculous. I think it took him 3-4 months to have the 130 quid or so refunded.
  3. Yahtzee - got my highest ever score which was 312. Also played Pictionary, how the hell are you supposed to draw "engaged tone"?
  4. We have and they'd agreed to replace them all. Strangely the latest batch have been no problem at all
  5. This. The 'go compare' bloke on the TV People who decide to do their entire weekly shop in a busy petrol station and hold up everyone who is trying to pay for fuel and therefore anyone trying to get their car near a fuel pump Petrol Stations that only have 1 person serving in the busiest time of the day, whilst 3 other empty tills are completely empty. Shop assistants that say "anything else?" when you go and buy something like a chocolate bar from a corner shop. Traffic lights at junctions that go green, let through 2 cars and go red again, holding up the 30 other cars stuck behind it. (I was stuck at the Dell Piece West traffic lights in Horndean for 12 minutes the other day FFS) Traffic lights at a deserted junction that are green on approach, go red and with no other car in sight the entire time go green 10 seconds later. Why stop you in the first place? People who think the best of way of getting out of the way of emergency vehicles is stopping dead in the middle of the road, even when the traffic going the other direction is solid. Disorganised people who forget things, and then say something is your fault because you forgot to remind them. Automated computers that ring you up every other evening about being mis-sold PPI insurance, even when you select the option to opt out of it I'm sure I'll think of more when Christmas day comes around
  6. Totally agree with you
  7. I remember about 10 years ago the Lib Dems wanted to build a private health/fitness club on a local nature reserve round my way, the irony being it was an area very opular with joggers. Luckily it got thrown out.
  8. In the last 6 years, the club top at Christmas has gone up 5 times
  9. Nah he's a skate through and through
  10. Shame to concede the goal but still satisfied with a point. Thought we deserved to win on the second half performance. We didn't quite manage to ward them off
  11. Actually I think they did, It sounds like the lad (probably 14/15?) either had anger management problems to do all that and/or he doesn't sound like someone who gives a toss about the law. I can't see the gender specified and without wanting to sound incredibly sexist, I doubt a group of even 3 middle aged female teachers would have fancied tackling a 14 year old boy who was in a mood as violent as that. Or indeed 3 male teachers who saw this outburst of violence and wondered if the kid would think twice about carrying a weapon ie. knife I know this story sounds like another overly liberal 'criminal human rights' story but having been a copper for 30 years I've seen too many have-a-go-heroes get seriously or fatally hurt trying to do the right thing. If they didn't they certainly should have called the police but I certainly don't think they should have jumped him no.
  12. We need to start producing things and manufacturing things again. Invest in apprenticeships (The coalition has to an extent but it isn't enough) and create opportunities for people to learn practical skills on the job. Get rid of the joke degrees like golf course design and wine tasting studies. University needs to be elitist, make it a place where hard workers go who want to be doctors/lawyers etc. etc. I never fail to see the irony of students wailing about how the government are getting rid of their EMA just to turn up to college, and then wondering why there are so few opportunities around
  13. If it wasn't for Norris Pompey would be hovering around the relegation zone right now. TBF he's been massive for them this season, he keeps popping up with crucial goals that keep the relegation zone at arm's length. One injury to him and they will be struggling. As for AA, he's taken on the taxman and won. He sure has the world of football worked out and where football clubs stand with the law.
  14. you winder upper. . .
  15. The company I work for has just started installing these into gigabyte MIBT5140s They've ordered a total of 30 now and 7 of them appear to have failed straightaway, with exactly the same spec components being used in all units.(Intel Core i3 2100T, Kingston 4GB 1333MHz, Western Digital 1TB HD). After hitting the on button the fan spins around for a few seconds and then just stops. No beeps or anything on the screen at all. Intel are being an absolute pain in the arse and are basically insisting the problem is anything but the mboard, even though we've swapped every component between a faulty and working unit to get the same result. Then as soon as we've swapped the mboard the problem has immediately gone to the other unit. Their technical support line seems to be more like a PR agency. We did use Shuttle SN68s/SA76s and we had less motherboard failures in 2 and a half years than we've had with Intel in 2 and a half months. Anyone had experience with these motherboards or intel in general?
  16. An increasing number on here are starting to think Corp Ho is Peter Storrie. If he isn't Storrie was definitely his maths teacher at one point
  17. Ho Ho Ho
  18. From what I've read on here, are we all certain the media didn't get the team-sheets wrong and it wasn't Forecast in goal against Blackpool?
  19. If KD isn't fit to play sunday you can bet Bart has a long week of training ahead of him and NA will be doing everything he can to get him and the defenders communicating and working with each other with confidence. And with the skills he's shown us so far plus being a former goalkeeper who better to do that than NA? As for the comment Bart 'manning up and wearing shorts' you only have to look at Gabor Kiraly and when he playing for Palace about 7-8 years ago. Was in great form when he wore those baggy pyjamas, then the one time he wore shorts against Chelsea and he had a mare, which included letting a tame Kezman shot squirm through his legs. Personally, I haven't worn shorts since 1972 but spent 30 years catching crooks in trousers so that isn't a debate
  20. Real Madrid have scored after 22 seconds after a Valdes howler
  21. We're going through a rough patch no doubt about it. Adkins first major challenge of the season. Davis gets injured, Bart has a very poor game. Still showed heart and got a point, could have even got 3. If KD isn't fit for Sunday Bart has got a lot of work ahead of him in training this week.
  22. Strangely I'm actually looking forward to the Pompey game. It's the sort of game where form goes out the window, the players will be up for it and if we can win it could get our season back on track.
  23. You think that's bad, Rickie Lambert didn't even get a hat trick today. Hope he's sold in January.
  24. Er, Pompey's accounts for tax year ending June '07 showed total debts of nearly £68.9 million with, with £66.8 million of that being racked up within a year. You do not have a clue. . .
  25. I was into D&B from the early 90s but seems to have died out in the last few years. It's got so predictable and boring now. Also a quite a few of the talented producers have either sold out ie. Pendulum or gone to other genres ie. Zinc Pretty much anything released on RAM I can listen to Noisia - Facade is one of my all time individual tracks Goldie's Sine Tempus is also very good
