  1. Bombs rarely go off in a smooth fashion
  2. A new contender for post of the thread!
  3. In the last 74 weeks an Avram Grant managed team has been in the relegation zone for 73 of them
  4. One more point on avram, I make it 73 out of a possible 74 weeks his club has been in the relegation zone. That's some going. Anyway on to the court case. . .
  5. I'm afraid you'll find a flood of hands going up. In the last 2 years and 8 months Curbishley, Zola and now Grant have all either walked out the door or been shown the door. Assuming they hire a name next season that'll be what 4 different managers in 4 seasons? That's not including any caretaker managers. Hiring Grant was an awful decision and it ensured the last few nails went into the coffin, especially when you consider the club were pumping up the rumours that Riquelme was about to sign for them a year ago. (Corp Ho must have a West Ham-supporting relative) That's anything BUT managerial stability, it's a managerial record that is heading towards Lowe's. As for Adkins who knows? He's made a very encouraging start but next season we'll want to target a top 6 spot and get off the ground running but finishing anywhere in mid table I'd be happy with. Next season for me is more about consolidation for the season after than anything else for me.
  6. LOL at West Ham throwing away a 2-0 lead to lose 3-2 and getting relegated. How many weeks is it in the relegation zone for Avram now? Anyone know if he made a speech afterwards?
  7. It's called "Computer Games" HTH
  8. There's no way Chelsea or Man City or any club won't be let into the Champions League because of this rule. They'll come up with some creative accounting that will get round it
  9. When does Tal Ben Haim's contract expire
  10. you gotta love the Storrie quote
  11. I thought Jakobsson and Davenport were as bad as each other, for different reasons. I've seen snails crawl faster than Jakobsson could run, as for Davenport he had absolutely zero awareness or concentration.
  12. they've been given a chance in the reserves in games I have seen, and Forecast was awful both times and looked totally out of his depth just in the reserve games. Whereas Pulis was simply dreadful, and its quite clear he's only got where he has because of who his dad is. He's made 42 first team appearances in 8 years of professional football
  13. Allaedine Yahia? I think 'arry signed him for something like £725,000 the season we were relegated and he never made a 1st team appearance. As an illustration of just how bad something must have been Jakobsson and Davenport were preferred to him.
  14. Was that really your garden Top Gear destroyed in that Ground Force special?
  15. Can't believe he's still only 21. One of the few things Poortvliet got right
  16. Connolly - Yes, proved his class at the end of the season, even if he only plays 15-20 games it'll be worth it Jaidi - Yes, give him a one year even if we only use him as a bit part player to bring on in the last 15-20 mins of games when we're camped in our own half, under pressure and defending a lead Harding - Yes Butterfield - Yes Gobern - No, don't think he's good enough Martin - Yes, He did well earlier in the season
  17. I feel the only chance of them getting a points deduction is the PL wanting to ensure they don't go anywhere near their league again
  18. To highlight the Luton case they got deducted 30 points. 20 of those points were because they failed to exit admin without a CVA, which we know doesn't apply to Pompey (even if they did shaft the creditors) Only 10 of those points were a punishment for 50 separate charges involving irregular payments Whereas AFAIK Storrie is up before the beak because he attempted to conceal 1 irregular payment involving Amdy Faye's transfer. Unless I've missed something with storrie's case I really doubt him being found guilty will result in a points deduction, unless HMRC take him to the cleaners which on recent form seems highly unlikely
  19. I think the club can only be punished if Storrie is found guilty as the other two are personal affairs. AFAIK We don't even know for sure a points deduction is possible even if Storrie is found guilty and frankly I'd be very surprised if they got one. IMO Either Storrie will get off on a technicality or he'll be found guilty, banned from running a business for x amount of years and Pompey are fined 300 quid.
  20. Nope There's far too much politics and crony-ism involved for them to backtrack. At best all they'll do is "discipline" the members involved and that will be the end of it. Which basically means blatter won't send them a christmas card this year. Jack Warner for instance has been one of the most corrupt and self serving rogues for years, I remember watching a TV programme where a British reporter investigated his shady dealings about 10 years ago concerning him bribing officials in the 1990s. The fact he's held on to the CONCACAF presidency for over 20 years tells you all you need to know
  21. I think they said it's more likely gonna be down to Ste Devote
  22. And the problem is in England there is far too much money, politics and crony-ism in the game and it means that any football club in the top 3-4 divisions is above the law.
  23. He's got a point though. Pompey have already had close to £100 million worth of debt wiped out because the creditors agreed to the CVA, and through not doing due diligence basically voted to get nothing. Due to some creative accounting in a poorly regulated industry all they've had for doing this is a 9 point penalty, a penalty that may well had been irrelevant because they may well have been relegated from the PL anyway. It's a worrying blueprint that has been created. The reason why this thread is still going is because since coming out of admin they've been doing exactly the same as what got them into admin in the first place. It's like Storrie never left. As for racking up debt, why do you think Barry Hearn recently proposed clubs that go into admin get dropped two divisions? Because clubs that are being run in a financially sustainable way are losing out and UK football is proving at the moment that cheats do indeed prosper.
  24. I think it was about the start of this run when Adkins banged a few heads together and the squad's attitude improved and complacency seemed to disappear. Those results indicate we are punching above our weight, and I think we can be a real force in the Championship next season, especially when I daresay we'll be playing in bigger stadiums and less ploughed fields on the away days. It's been said that if we hadn't put that run together we wouldn't have been automatically promoted so certain pessimism was justified, but if Huddersfield hadn't put their incredible run together we'd have gone up with ease. Swings and roundabouts.
  25. I'd be interested to know where these reports have come from that claim Pompey are approaching £100 million in debt again.
