  1. https://driving.ca/tesla/features/feature-story/motor-mouth-tesla-is-literally-going-up-in-flames Teslas going up in flames are fairly regular news nowadays, even if the Internet seems always amused, often amazed and sometimes downright terrified at the pyrotechnics Elon Musk’s lithium-ions can produce with seeming spontaneity. Now, to be sure, as the Silicon Valley giant is wont to protest, car fires are hardly new, gasoline being not exactly a fire retardant, and the internal combustion engine often producing its own fair share of fireballs. Neither is a safe situation. Neither is likely to leave much of a vehicle after the conflagration is over. And, other than the uniqueness of an electric vehicle going up in flames, neither should be, save for the Internet’s insatiable need for pyrotechnics – that should be read “sensationalism” this time – particularly newsworthy. What is new, what should be considered truly frightening, however, is the incredible difficulty fire crews are having in extinguishing some of these Tesla fires and, more alarming, the lengths they need to go to prevent said batteries from re-igniting.
  2. Wasn't a poster on Saintsweb a victim of that scumbag?
  3. Boeing have been faced with allegations of ill-fitting, illegal and dangerous parts for years. This is from 2010:- https://www.aljazeera.com/programmes/peopleandpower/2010/12/20101214104637901849.html .
  4. Well the kit looks ok but that video? What a load of pathetic, intelligence insulting drivel. Even that lot down the M27 would be embarrassed to let their name be associated with a video like that, not that they could afford to make one like it mind. .
  5. An inquest into a horrific two-car crash that left seven people dead found the driver repeatedly consumed synthetic cannabis throughout the day. The only survivor of the crash says she doesn't remember the collision that killed her two young daughters and her partner because she was "synnied out." On June 27 2018, seven people were killed when Jeremy Thompson's car drifted over the centerline outside the Taranaki town of Waverly NZ https://www.msn.com/en-nz/news/national/inquest-into-horror-crash-that-left-seven-dead-finds-driver-was-high-on-synthetics/ar-AABaxTw?li=BBqdg4K
  6. A Boeing insider involved in the design and development of the 737 Max, who is now an FBI informant in a criminal investigation into the company, said: “We were under pressure to minimise any changes to cut costs, and to get it done quickly. In my view Boeing was making decisions on the basis of share price.” In 2011, Boeing learned that American Airlines was about to order 200 A320 Neos – a newly re-engined plane from their biggest competitor Airbus. The revelation sent Boeing into a tailspin. In a desperate attempt to match its competition, Boeing pitched a new version of one of their most reliable aircraft – the Boeing 737, which had already been revamped multiple times since its launch in 1967. Impressed with the upgrade, dubbed the “737 Max” American Airlines agreed to split its new order between Airbus and Boeing. But as 60 Minutes revealed, upgrading the old 737 was easier said than done. The Max’s new fuel efficient engines were too big to fit beneath its 50-year-old body design – so they were moved forward and up. But Boeing discovered that moving the engines caused a lift effect that forced the plane’s nose up – risking a stall, which can cause an aircraft to literally fall from the sky. Boeing relied on the 737 Max not requiring airlines to upskill pilots. (60 Minutes) “Boeing knew the engine design and placement would make the aircraft pitch up, with an increased risk of stalling especially at low speed.’ the insider said. ‘But we were too close to certification to change the design,” Boeing’s fix came in the form of a computer program called MCAS - the Manoeuvring Characteristics Augmentation System. This new flight control system would automatically force the plane’s nose down if it detected an imminent stall. Critically, Boeing’s designers made MCAS reliant on just one sensor – contrary to most aircraft safety systems, which rely on two or more sensors. 10. I actually hope that Noah has indeed passed on the rude and insulting comments but I expect they will just be like water off a ducks back. For years some on here have insisted that women should have no part in running a club, that woman is just reinforcing that viewpoint.
  11. As a person who dislikes both of those men ( Hain & Green ) I am in a bit of a quandary as to whom I support. I do now wonder IF Hain has somewhat jumped the gun and could in a way have even helped Green. When interviewed by Evan Davies on Newsnight last night, Lord Hain was asked about some of these issues. What about the wishes of the complainants who supported the injunction? What about the fact that this was an interim injunction? Why the haste? To describe Lord Hain’s answers as evasive would be charitable. He didn’t even attempt to address the questions, either because he knows there is no sensible answer, or because he hadn’t taken the time to actually acquaint himself with the basic facts before forming his view. One might suspect that Lord Hain forsook reading the judgment and was taken in by the primary-colour narrative of the Telegraph’s story; the misleading suggestion that this was a #MeToo parable of victims wanting to tell their stories but being permanently silenced by a court indulging the whims of powerful, abusive men. In reality, this case is far more complex than that. There are conflicting interests and considerations of public policy, free speech, evidence and law which deserve, and were going to get, a fair and independent hearing. Lord Hain has ensured that this is one thing which all involved, including potential victims, have now been denied. https://inews.co.uk/opinion/comment/what-lord-peter-hain-didnt-consider-when-he-rushed-to-name-name-philip-green/ .

  13. Alexander Gerst, a German astronaut orbiting Earth from 250 miles (402 kilometres) up, has a warning for humans on the planet below him. "Watch out, America!" Gerst, who joined the crew of the International Space Station in June, said Wednesday in a tweet featuring pictures he took of Hurricane Florence. "This is a no-kidding nightmare coming for you," he added. https://www.sciencealert.com/astronauts-photos-of-hurricane-florence-from-international-space-station
  14. It doesn't matter one iota who fans wish to be the manager, director of football or even chairman. It's all up to that private person who owns this small club. Fans don't seem to matter so our views are now so irrelevant that they can be safely ignored. .
  15. Well I am only a registered member but I haven't had any of these problems. Could it be because I have "AD Block Plus" and "Ghostery" ?
  16. The Times letter column today...... Sir, Boris Johnson should not apologise for telling the truth. His evocative analogy is unfortunate but he is justified in reminding everyone that the Wahhabi/Salafi-inspired fad of female facial masking has no Koranic legitimacy. It is, however, a nefarious component of a trendy gateway theology for religious extremism and militant Islam. The burka and niqab are hideous tribal ninja-like garments that are pre-Islamic, non-Koranic and therefore un-Muslim. Although this deliberate identity-concealing contraption is banned at the Kaaba in Mecca it is permitted in Britain, thus precipitating security risks, accelerating vitamin D deficiency, endorsing gender-inequality and inhibiting community cohesion. The retrogressive Islamic clergy has succeeded in persuading ill-informed Muslims through suspect secondary sources that God wants women to cover their faces, when in reality it is a toxic patriarchy controlling women. Is it any wonder that many younger women have internalised this poisonous chauvinism by asserting that it is their human right to hide their faces? Johnson did not go far enough. If Britain is to become a fully integrated society then it is incumbent that cultural practices, personal preferences and communal customs that aggravate social division should be firmly resisted. For this reason Britain must emulate France, Belgium, Austria, Bulgaria and Denmark in banning the burka. Dr Taj Hargey Imam, Oxford Islamic Congregation
