The humiliation will be if they dont beat Burnley at home today. Looking at their upcoming fixtures their next win could be 16 January - not including the FA Cup !
-
For the first time I can ever recall there are no details of that ilk in the matchday programme this season. It does not even list Pardew and his coaching staff/Assistant Manager.
-
Thats a good call......fits 19C's qualification of a non free loader too since she and her family have always paid for their season tickets.

As you are perfectly aware I was referring to your flippant "i nominate Derry" remark. Perhaps, as font of all knowledge you could answer the question I asked earlier - is the role of President applicable at most clubs these days or is it an out of date title ? If it is from a by-gone day then I agree that things are best left as they are, if we are in the minority and just about the only club that hasn't got a President then I again refer to my opinion which is that a list of names is compiled and supporters/club staff etc vote on it. There would be no reason this could not extend to a supporter of many years standing such as Herbie Taylor, but I do think if its an ambassador type role it should be someone well known in football who people would instantly associate with Southampton. Remember they would have no power or say in the running of the club after all.

Would he ever be fit ?

Ladysaint did title this thread "Sensible debate"

I think you should really be looking at someone who has actually represented the club at some level, wether it be player, coach, manager etc rather than a fan of many years standing, no offence whatsoever to Herbie of course. As it is really just a title and ambassador role I dont see that someone like Mike Channon could be ruled out because of his race horse training or MLT cos of TV work. I would look to give the role/title to a one club man or someone who has given outstanding service to the club over a long period of time. For that reason a shortlist of Le Tiss, McMenemy, Channon, Paine, Sydenham, Nick Holmes, Ron Davies etc could be drawn up and supporters could be invited to vote IF the club do just view the position as a figurehead in the football world. Do most clubs still have a President out of interest ?

Whilst I dont doubt it wasn't malicious and just intended as banter I thought it was totally out of order....he wasn't getting caught offside on purpose...and how many foreign people understand British irony ? He had a good game IMHO, and I am sure the coaching team can teach him to time his runs better or watch the line, especially when playing on the wing and he only has to look in one direction !
-
An own goal and a penalty for a dodgy handball with the last kick of the game hardly constitute a fragile defence to be fair.
-
Pity they dont make that clear on the website - I haven't got my seat, so if I have someone elses that upsets them and so it snowballs.
-
Like I said i dont know whay some people are picking holes in your posting of facts ! I bet that run is as good, if not better than any other in the country right now and its about bloody time we had something to be proud of on a football pitch
-
It comes to something when people get a bit upset when a poster points out what a good run we are or have been on. After 5 years of almost wall to wall dross I for one am enjoying seeing a big fat W in the W,D,L column.

Could you actually translate please ? I have no idea what this is about.

Well hoo-bloody-ray for that, I do hope that is a promise. As for a persons health/general well being could I just remind you that you informed the members of this board that you have had mental problems. There was no need for you to do that, 99% of people come on here to talk about Southampton FC and all the various dramas and issues that have surrounded it. A person's state of health is their own business and no concern or probabaly no interest either to any other poster. Yet you, more than once disclose your medical problems. If people chose to insult you due to those medical conditions then yes, I agree with you, that is so very wrong...BUT you have never helped yourself with your manner and your own insults. You have had more than one dig at me in the past but I dont give a monkeys, its water off a ducks back what someone as confrontational and argumentative as you think of me. I would be more worried if you liked me actually but you do chose to have a go at people yourself. Perhaps the old glass house phrase applies. I do think objecting to insults is a little but rich coming from you though.......
-
totally agree.
-
why ? He did well against Charlton and kept a clean sheet for 35 mins tonight. Goalkeeping is all about confidence and he looks a lot more confident than he did in the last couple of years.
-
Trotman - is he as good as we first thought?
beatlesaint replied to wessex saint's topic in The Saints
If I was a player I would never want to play for this club if I read this board first Christ the lad is 20, he has not played regularly for over a year before joining us and like all young players he will have dips in form.....Lallana for much of last season anyone ?...... For what its worth I think you can trace it back to the Preston manager indicating they would take him back in January after watching him during the international break - which included the Brighton game incidentally. -
Nope - give me a speedy winger any day of the week.
-
Yes exactly. Brave management to play him today, Thomas did well when he replaced him last week and could easily have kept his place. AP gave him the chance to put a nightmare behind him and to a great extent he did.
-
I thought Trotman was ok today, he has been prone in most games to make the odd error. He was very bad last Sunday, today he was a hell of a lot better.
-
I have said it before and I will say it again. We have been on a great run and for much of it we have got away with playing James at Right Back. It has to stop now. Murty must play at right back, he keeps the defence in line, he talks to them, he has a footballing brain. If he is not fit then Thomas should play there, he did ok before his injury. James is not good enough to play right back, simple as that.
-
He should explain himself to us, we deserve the truth and not be fobbed off or have him put an extra chapter about it in the paperback version of his book. He has let us all down, there is a local business that needs him and what does he do ? I think for the sake of Public interest the CPS should follow this up and make a decision on the correct legal proceedings to take care of MLT and his ilk.
-
Murty did the exact same thing just in front of us in the Kingsland near the end. He didn't get to take the throw again however ! And yes, you are correct.
-
Given your open, pure and repetitive hatred and disdain for MLT, McMenemy and Crouch in post upon post this has to be the most incredible statement you have ever posted on here. House....stones.......glass spring to mind. PS - Loving your football knowledge being torn to shreds on this thread.....now where else have I read or heard of someones lack of football knowledge showing them up ? Oh yes, your hero, Sir Rupert of Lowe life xxx
-
As this has nothing whatsoever to do with football or MLT - as in your words you are putting him to one side (thank God for that) - could you not have PM'ed the poster of these facts and had your English law lesson in the privacy of your own little space away from everybody who comes on here to discuss footballing issues ? Or did you want it "out there" so that you look so high and mighty and bloody intelligent ?
