why ? He did well against Charlton and kept a clean sheet for 35 mins tonight. Goalkeeping is all about confidence and he looks a lot more confident than he did in the last couple of years.
-
Trotman - is he as good as we first thought?
beatlesaint replied to wessex saint's topic in The Saints
If I was a player I would never want to play for this club if I read this board first Christ the lad is 20, he has not played regularly for over a year before joining us and like all young players he will have dips in form.....Lallana for much of last season anyone ?...... For what its worth I think you can trace it back to the Preston manager indicating they would take him back in January after watching him during the international break - which included the Brighton game incidentally. -
Nope - give me a speedy winger any day of the week.
-
Yes exactly. Brave management to play him today, Thomas did well when he replaced him last week and could easily have kept his place. AP gave him the chance to put a nightmare behind him and to a great extent he did.
-
I thought Trotman was ok today, he has been prone in most games to make the odd error. He was very bad last Sunday, today he was a hell of a lot better.
-
I have said it before and I will say it again. We have been on a great run and for much of it we have got away with playing James at Right Back. It has to stop now. Murty must play at right back, he keeps the defence in line, he talks to them, he has a footballing brain. If he is not fit then Thomas should play there, he did ok before his injury. James is not good enough to play right back, simple as that.
-
He should explain himself to us, we deserve the truth and not be fobbed off or have him put an extra chapter about it in the paperback version of his book. He has let us all down, there is a local business that needs him and what does he do ? I think for the sake of Public interest the CPS should follow this up and make a decision on the correct legal proceedings to take care of MLT and his ilk.
-
Murty did the exact same thing just in front of us in the Kingsland near the end. He didn't get to take the throw again however ! And yes, you are correct.
-
Given your open, pure and repetitive hatred and disdain for MLT, McMenemy and Crouch in post upon post this has to be the most incredible statement you have ever posted on here. House....stones.......glass spring to mind. PS - Loving your football knowledge being torn to shreds on this thread.....now where else have I read or heard of someones lack of football knowledge showing them up ? Oh yes, your hero, Sir Rupert of Lowe life xxx
-
As this has nothing whatsoever to do with football or MLT - as in your words you are putting him to one side (thank God for that) - could you not have PM'ed the poster of these facts and had your English law lesson in the privacy of your own little space away from everybody who comes on here to discuss footballing issues ? Or did you want it "out there" so that you look so high and mighty and bloody intelligent ?
-
and from the usual source Daren......

I know I shouldn't rise to your bait yet again, but I will give it one more go. The Police when they investigated this hideous crime decided there was no case to answer. **** me you keep on about the Police involvement so you must know the outcome. If the organisation that enforce the law in this country see no case to answer why oh why is that not enough for you ? Your continual refernce to MLT being a cheat with your "cheats dont prosper" mantra comes from where ? How has the man cheated FFS ? All he tried to do, and failed at, was kick a bloody football out of play in the first few seconds of a game. Its not cheating, how can it be. It did not influence a game in the slightest........conning the referee for a penalty is cheating and you can see that every week on Match of the Day etc etc. You make it sound like he murdered someone and got away scot free. Your dog with a bone attitude towards the Pinnacle thing is so so missing the point its untrue. MLT tried to help and save the club that he loves. As Daren pointed out at least he tried. Ok he was taken in, he possibly didnt do his homework and got his fingers burned but in your world that deserves criticism and scorn doesnt it ? Why ? How ? There was hardly a queue of people lined up to save this Football Club was there ? Its not MLT's fault that Mark Fry took the Pinnacle option before the one that eventually saved the club is it ? Yet you find it far easier to criticise his part in it than admit that his reasons and intentions were nothing less than honourable and says much about the man. Excuse me if I am wrong, and I am sure you will delight in pointing it out if I am, but how many other former players of this club TRIED to save it to the extent that MLT did ? Oh, thats right, none. The reception MLT got when he walked around the pitch to do his Sky work at the Millwall game just underlined how much supporters of this club appreciate what he tried to do and I am sure he will get that reception everytime he comes back to St Marys and appears pitch side. There appears to be only one sad individual who sits there like the Saints version of Scrooge mumbling and spitting venom in his direction. Please please for the sake of our sanity, and yours, give it up cos this is getting to be a little bit disturbing. And given your self admitted mental problems in the past I would think you had more important things to concern yourself with than a one man crusade against an individual you have probably never met.

What game were you at ? Connolly worked his socks off yesterday. Worked very hard, closed down their defenders, made space with very intelligent runs - he is much too clever for League 1. If he hadnt had the injuries over the last 2 years he would still be in the Premiership. He has a football brain, he is the perfect foil for Lambert as defenders know BOTH of them need watching. I cannot believe people want to drop him. 4 goals in 5 games.....thanks David but we dont really want you playing week in week out !!! Jeez......
-
I know people keep pointing at the JPT and saying "reserve side, reserve side" but dont forget the rule whereby teams have to field at least six of their regulars. Now Connolly played presumably to help him with match fitness, Davis and Trotman were on the bench. Murty is coming back to fitness, Saga was presumably away with Poland so any changes that could have been made to keep the side strong were limited. Lets not forget that had he put out a half and half side people would have used the old "we have blown our best chance to go to Wembley" card. Damned if you do, damned if you dont really. To me, if you want to put out a side that "rests" players then do it in the FA Cup cos we aint gonna win that
-
I dont have to take you off ignore, its pointless cos everyone quotes you when relpying to your latest observation or opinion And for the record, I dont care, there was no case to answer, nobody except you wants to drag his name through the mud and your suggestion that him saying he is going to an away game because he is worried about his reception at a home one is ridiculous.........might have something to do with his Sky work that a home game in the next few weeks/months is ruled out. Have you considered that ? (retorical - please dont bother with an answer.)
-
He fails to grasp the message that with the exception of him - NOBODY CARES !
-
He is not a right back, and never will be. We have got away with him being there for a fair few games now and he was always going to get caught out soon, admittedly I didnt think it would be against Brighton. He looked good in his natural position the other night when Morgan went off injured. The only clean sheets we have kept this season have been when Murty or Thomas have been at right back, I dont believe that is a coincidence.
-
This is not serious surely ? We have now lost 2 games in 15.....as opposed to the last couple of seasons where 2 wins in 15 games was treated as a good run. We lost a games, it was always going to happen eventually, and it happened today. Get over it FFS.......if that is your reaction to a defeat go and support Man Utd or Chelsea. BTW, have you been waiting since the Bristol Rovers defeat (the other one in the last 15 games) to post that crap ?
-
Bloody hell i forgot all about him - he was very poor to say the least. We have had so much dross in this decade alone that its almost scary. You could compile 3 teams worth of our rubbish since about 2000 alone ! Anyone mentioned Olivier Bernard yet ?
-
He wouldn't worry about that, he would get the ball on the edge of our penalty area, power down the middle and end up in their box before they knew if it was Christmas, Easter or New Years Day Best box to box midfielder I have ever seen in a Saints shirt, or many others for that matter.
-
Steve Williams in his prime.
-
Neilsen wasn't it......came on against Spurs I think it was, put in a lovely cross for the goal and we won 1-0 in the relegation season. The only thing he did - dross indeed.
-
Thanks for that, great report. Go on then - who was the worst Saints player in Matt's opinion ?
-
Shock Horror as 19C insults yet another poster............... As we are nearly all so far below your intelligence level why do you bother coming on here ? Oh thats right, its to insult MLT, Lawrie etc etc. Even had to drip your poison into the MLT Penalty thread didn't you ? You are pure malice.
-
Absolutely....chances were we had to play them at some stage and better this than a home and away two legged affair. COYR !!
