  1. He is not awful, he is just not ready to be played out of position.
  2. I thought those two questions were both asked and answered either on the Solent Forum or on the OS recently, or both ! Beer contract is tied in for the forseeable future and i cannot remember the answer about travel for disabled people but I'm sure it can be found in News Archive on the OS.
  3. Thats rich considering your Post count is standing at 2,584......its about time you didnt bother to write so much then we could all come on here and enjoy what you haven't written !
  4. or Thomas ! Cant believe Chelsea dont want Mellis cup tied though.
  5. Opposition teams can have all the plans and tactics they like in place to "hit us where it hurts" but if the players of those teams aren't as good as ours then its not going to work too often. Its all well and good telling the centre half "Ok when we get a corner, you go up for it, out jump Lambert who will be marking you and we are one up" Teams know how Chelsea, Man Utd and Arsenal play, but not too many beat them. Now obviously I am not comparing us to them but most people in football seem to agree we are one of the better teams in this league.
  6. There doesnt seem much point in watching this Football League show as every week the highlights are longer and therefore better on the BBC's Southampton page
  7. Apologies for rising to his bait....but sometimes his thinly veiled attacks on Saints legends (I know he hates that word) just get my blood boiling. I will block the tosser again I think.....so please nobody quote him
  8. Perhaps you would care to clarify and explain your "considering his background" comment ?
  9. Well as per usual it is you who have missed the point. If it is an evening with Matt le Tissier it is pretty obvious that football/sport will be a large, if not sole, ingredient of any after dinner speaking. As per your "considering his background" comment regarding Lawrie what exactly are you suggesting ? Have you not understood or accept that McMenemy has done a lot of work for charities over the years, a lot of it without payment, like so many people in the public eye do. I think your obsession with McMenemy and your thinly veiled attacks on his character and motives could well land you in serious hot water if any of this was ever bought to his attention. You almost came a cropper with your insults towards Mike Osman and your suggestions that his motives for trying to save SFC at a critical time were not all they seemed. If you have any sense, as we are clearly passed asking if you have any decency, then you will put your shovel down and move away from the hole pretty bloody smartish.
  10. Like all wingers he will be a hit some games and a miss in others, its the nature of the beast. I agree that playing the full 90 mins is a lot different than going for the last half hour, which, so far he looks brilliant at. But will he be one of these wingers that if they get pole axed in the first few minutes they go missing ? Very young, very raw, very unpredictable, but an awful lot to work with and the way AP is playing him is just about right i would say.
  11. I knew some smartie pants would post that as soon as i pressed submit reply !
  12. plenty of options from the bench if it all goes wrong. When was the last time we could say that ?
  13. No, he just acknowledged the crowd whenever his name was chanted or he came over to take a bloody corner !! There was no geeing up involved.
  14. I understood, many years ago now, that the ref had to live at least 60 miles away from the town/city that either of the teams he was officiating came from. Unless my geography is all to pot that doesn't apply in this case by a long stretch. So was that rule scrapped ? Will we see the Liverpool/Everton derbies ref'd by a Scouser or a Utd/City one ref'd by a Manc ? I think not.
  15. Very true - I have unblocked 19C cos i cannot wait to see his reply to Daren's post - "Take a small provincial club, take them to be genuinely competitive in the top flight, take them to wembley, win at Wembley, play in Europe, sign Europes' player of the year, finish runners up to probably one of the greatest English league teams ever, compete pretty much at top ten every year he was in charge. Or gain promotion in League 1/Championship with the backing of one of the richest chairmen in the country. And you wonder why people mock your footballing knowledge? Oh, and as an aside. Nigel Pearson, last season championship winning manager and this season vying for another. Jan Poortvielt, joint bottom of the Dutch second division with FC Eindhoven. Case rested on that front... Seriously, people can perhaps question McMenmy's activities off the pitch since moving out of football but how can anyone question his record at Saints? It is absolutely, completely and utterly, the most moronic footballing argument I could imagine..." Come on then 19C.....give us an intelligent response to this !
  16. your irony is terrific but lets not go too far - heh heh
  17. He's good isn't he ?
  18. Steve Williams was quite simply one of the best midfield players ever to pull on a Southampton shirt.
  19. Elimentary my dear Watson
  20. The Quality Street advert ? You mean to the tune of Thankyou Very Much by The Scaffold. And sorry its not brilliant
  21. Oh yes........hope those words are rammed down his thorat Saturday afternoon
  22. Thats not old, I remember watching all of them Old must be before 1970....surely ?
  23. Best thing would be for Preston to keep doing well
  24. People cannot seem to grasp the idea that we are no longer a selling club, we have no debt whatsoever and ML and NC are looking to build this club up into a Premiership side again. Lallana will only go IF the deal is right for Southampton - which would mean a very large amount of money - and/or if, when his contract is up, he decides he wants to leave. As there is no evidence he wants to leave all this talk about him going in January is ridiculous.
  25. Well you can't fault his honesty.......how their assistant manager can call us long ball is beyond me.....did he not notice the number of times Lallana and Antonio, in the second half, ran at them from the half way line ?
