If Puel had lost 2-0 against Sunderland, the knives would be out for him. So why do so many want Marco Silva? Bizarre.
-
It was a good win, had Long scored the penalty, we probably would've won by 4 or 5. That's football I guess. We'll probably need to play better against Man Utd, but hopefully that will give the players a much needed boost ahead of that game. I still believe that 1 more win from those 2 games will be enough for us to finish 8th.
-
Please, we weren't clinging on. They had one chance after they scored, that was it.
-
It would be nice to see a bit more intensity at the start of this second half, and get the job done early. This could be any score we want, if we show a bit more willingness.
-
Keep Gabbiadini fresh for Man Utd
-
I'm going for a very easy 8-0 victory (four of which are own goals) and Tadic to miss a penalty
-
We haven't scored in our last three games! So yes, there should be many changes IMO.
-
It's not just that though. It's travelling to and from, less preparation for the weekend matches, less time spent on the training ground. It has had a massive impact, and hopefully the club has learnt massively from it.
-
They had fewer games in comparison to us. Let's see how they do next season when they have to play two games every week. The Europa League has hindered our season, without a doubt.
-
I think to reach the final in his first season, something that Pochettino and Koeman couldn't manage, is something that deserves recognition.
-
Yup, definite need to rotate for this match. Austin on the bench would be welcome too.
-
I think people deluded themselves with way over the top expectations. That idiot Jack Schitt account didn't help matters, too any on here bought his BS despite the educated amongst us being able to work out quickly that it was all rubbish.
-
I don't think my support of him is abnormal at all. Sacking him at any point during this season would have been a complete knee jerk reaction, and would have been worse for this club than standing by him. Never at any point in this season were we close to relegation, at all. Ludicrous to suggest otherwise. I think most people would've been happy with a top 10 finish, which, as it stands, we are on course to achieve. I do accept that recent performances, in the last month or so, have been way below par. If we lose tomorrow, or draw 0-0 again, I'll probably join the Puel Out brigade. Or rather, the 'quietly do it at the end of the season' brigade.
-
OK everyone, hypothetical question. What would be enough for Puel to save his job in the next three games? Three wins minimum? Two? Or would you get rid of him, regardless of the next three results, even if we win them all 6-0? Genuinely interested to see what people think.
-
Watford and Sunderland away, do they suffice? I agree that some of the football has been less than entertaining, but other times have been. That period was undoubtedly our best spell of the season, both in terms of results and style.
-
The recent press speculation about a new manager leads to be think that this is probably what will end up happening. In any case, let's hope that it gets sorted out by the board quickly, either they a) come out and announce their full backing or b) announce his departure.
-
Presumably, if the photo shoot has already been done, it will be unveiled fairly soon...
-
We could play the most boring football imaginable, winning 1-0 every match, but if we won the league, I could not care less.
-
I wouldn't want Marco Silva at all.
-
People would be moaning if we were playing exciting football every week but lost. Style of football is irrelevant.
-
And now their captain is jumping ship too
-
Hopefully we'll see the Puel side that put four past Sunderland and Watford in consecutive matches We've been decent away from home, so that's in our favour. Anything other than a win would be a poor result. The players need to up their game. Hopefully there will be considerable 'rotation' for this match.
-
I'm still maintaining that two wins will be enough for us to get 8th. Where we get them from is another matter...
-
I agree, but they have better players than us. We should beat a Middlesbrough side that is already relegated, no ifs, no buts.
-
You see, if we lose at Middlesbrough, I'll forgive such a reaction. But against Arsenal? Come on, pull yourself together. Sick and tired of our weak fan base.
