Bigger than Villa, Everton, Fulham, Stoke ? Come on Turkish, FFS, be serious.

Clearly, you are having some sort of brain-fart this morning. You did mention The Dell. I cant be bothered with the rest, you are clearly just after an argument.

I got my latest airplane model finished.

Oh, and this thread is NOT inspired by our performance so far this season and our table position. I had my doubts during the summer, and said so on a couple of occasions. Our predicament now is just supporting evidence for my feeling.
-
Why cant you discuss sensibly without all the inflammatory rubbish ? Now I know where the phrase "shouting down" is coming from. I dont think it is clueless or ignorant. Back when we were in the PL at The Dell, the PL was a totally different beast and less money obsessed. You are comparing apples and elephants. So we spent 30m this season. The top teams are spending many times more than that, before you even start thinking about wage bills. We have a PL-representative stadium, and a competitve academy. The rest of the infrastrucutre and operation is championship level at best. Les Reed is heading up our scouting network, FFS. I'd rather have Lord Baden Powell, and hes dead. And as for the snide comment above about me wanting prawn-sandwich-munching fans, the person who posted it has just about mis-interpreted what I meant about as far as he could. I meant our fans are TOO GOOD for the Premiership, where the fans are all middle-class wideboys and only sing when they are winning.

Lets face it, we#ve been having punch-ups all over the place for centuries, and I doubt any of us have a full grasp of our military history, so it seems a bit previous to scoff at this book.
-
Maybe the Argentina issue has more to do with the significant setlling of Welsh people in Patagonia some centuries before. But I dont know, hence it seems the book may be worth a read to follow the author's rationale.

WBA are enjoying their 15mins of fame, as did we back under Hoddle, although we werent good enough to sustain it. West Ham fit the PL profile, despite patchiness on-field. Remember the PL bent their own rules to prevent them being relegated over Tevez. Their "face" and therefore their mentality as a club, fits.

There is certainly a lot of "getting your excuses in early" going on at the moment... And fans of our club have always had an ambition issue.
-
The only way I can see this improving is if the big 4-6 do break away into a Euro Super League and leave the rest of us to get on with it. I wonder what fans of the likes of Norwich and Swansea really think about the PL...

I'm in Austria, not Australia. I talk to people regularly back in Soton. Its my impression from a variety of sources. Its not just about winning. There is no "fun" and little enjoyment in the PL, it seems to me. I am getting prepared for relegation. I just wish we were putting up a fight.

Hear me out. This isnt a quality issue about players, executive management, team manager. Even if we bought Messi, Ronaldo and got Guardiola in, I still would think the same. The PL has changed massively since we were last in it, and even then we struggled most seasons. We simply dont have the infrastructure, money, and most importantly, the mindset as fans and club for the PL. Our fans are loyal, passionate, and not fair-weather. Yes, I frequently pull a massive strop and portray everything as negative, but I love this club of ours and could never follow another; its just an emotional, perhaps even childish outburst in response to events. I swear that we care more about our club than most PL teams, and I couldnt give a sh*t waht the media portrays about fanaticism from clubs like Newcastle. Be honest, last season, riding high in the Championship, was the mutts nuts compared to this. Winning most weeks, smiles on faces round town, better atmosphere in the bars on Saturday night. Look forward to the next game with excitement, not fear. Oh, and we played regular-as-clockwork on Saturday and mid-week. The PL, it just doesnt feel right. It feels shallow, hollow, emotionally cold, petty.
-
I can see us drawing with QPR and losing the rest. If we have no new manager by the QPR game our relegation is a certainty, imo.
-
Nope, really dont agree. None of them will force their way into any other PL team, imo. Ramirez is an expensive unknown, and Lallana has shown he has a fundamental weakness to his game - tracking back and defending - since Day 1.

Olly Lancashire's shock tweet about Southampton Football Club
alpine_saint replied to Saint-Armstrong's topic in The Saints
Of course Lancashire has no agenda, does he ? -
B*ll*cks. Who would have them ? They are more than clearly demonstrating their inability to compete at this level, currently. I dont think clubs will be queueing up for Lallana in January.

Well, I am genuinely curious about some nations and how they have been designated "invaded". So I've ordered the book to read, rather than sneer/speculate.

Bad for SFC.

Resting all those players last week worked then!

Erm, quite...

The team turned things around in the 2nd half against Spurs. The catalyst was Mayuka. Did we build on it against Leeds ? No, we changed the team. Did Mayuka start today ? No. For these 2 things, let alone the subs against Manyoo and the several occasions when Lambert didnt start, NA needs to go. -
I dont get the issue. On the first page of threads there are only 2 started by him, and one was a valid discussion.

rb ?

Yep, f**king ridiculous.

I dont think we are going to get a second bite at this cherry.
