Superb result. Things looking up. What a difference a week makes...

They were what we got for Alan Shearer. Dalglish must have been laughing his tits off at us.

Same old complete tripe from SOGGY. What agenda can Saints fans have apart from wanting the team to succeed, FFS ? Do you REALLY think that any Saints fan wants a manager to fail before he has demonstrated if he is up to the job or not ? You appear to be the one with the agenda. You describe Pearson as "nearly taking us down", conveniently ignore the fact that the team was in a nose-dive prior to his arrival and ignore the inertia of turning such situations around, then SCREAM about certain fans not giving Pardew time, despite the huge amount resources he has been lavished with that Pearson was only able to DREAM about. You clutch to your 1.54 statistic, yet completely ignore the financial cost that came at. Burley's first full season you laud over was SH*TE considering what it cost. Why the board allowed him to set such low sights as the playoffs considering it was the last year of parachute payments, I will never know. If I had been Hone I would have fired him for that when he announced his target. And if Burley and a section of the fans such as you really thought that season could have been built upon in the next with no player sales against a backdrop of ended parachute payments, then you really are stupid.

Looking at some of your line-ups, I had to say I wanted a clean-sweep of the old failure culture, and apart from Lallana and Davis, the job is nearly complete. I still worry that Schneiderlin is not up to the challenge, despite his apparent potential....
-
We have always had dodgy goalkeepers. Paul Jones and Dave Beasant, for example. Kelvin Davis has his moments of dodgyness, but he also has moments of brilliance. I am of the opinion that we have just about the bext GK available at this level. If we get promoted, and we are pushing for further promotion, the situation may need reviewing, but lets not forget he turned down a cushy number at WHU to stay with us.......

How can you be sure that Pearson would have done worse than Pardew in our new era ? Pardew has a stable board room with no politics, and has been able to pick his players and his back-room staff. He has, in effect, been given huge lattitude to do his job compared to Pearson. Remember, Pearson has achieved what he has at Leicester with Mandaric looking over his shoulder.

Wow, SadOldGit makes an original post.... I am concerned by certain analogies I see in Pardew's and Burley's approach, a much more interesting comparison than Pardew to Pearson. Pearson performed a minor bloody miracle for us, and has gone on to prove he is a good manager. The jury is very much out on Pardew, its much too early.

Saints 2-2 (5-3 on pens) Torquay - Match Reaction

I have to agree with this. It's f**king pathetic. These people would rather have Brett Ormerod thrashing around looking busy with very little end product. -
Are you for real ?

Saints 2-2 (5-3 on pens) Torquay - Match Reaction
alpine_saint replied to Arizona's topic in The Saints
Two words : George Burley Did we really play 4-5-1 against Torquay United ? FFS. At least a win continues the momentum. The team could have gotten really unstuck confidence-wise if they had lost this. But Torquay United, FFS, hardly what I'd call a banana-skin team..... Pardew will realise from this that : 1. His tactics utterly ming at times 2. He might have a good first 11, but he has zero depth to cover for injury or suspension. -
Cant be arsed picking 9 other players from that list. Wont let me put MLT for all 10...
-
Oh, do leave it out, FFS. What's Dunc done to annoy you today ?
-
Having said that, how ghey does Lallana look in this photo ? http://www.dailyecho.co.uk/sport/4663322.Saints_thump_Gillingham_to_go_into_plus_points/

I haven changed my mind about Schneiderlin.
-
I would make Schneiderlin win his place back, if I were AP, rather than give it as an automatic right.
-
With a fully fit side who would you pick/formation?

----------------------Davis-------------------- Murty-----Jaidi------Trotman-----Harding Wiago---------Wotton-------------Hammond---------Holmes ------------------Lambert-------Lallana--------------------- We should make an offer for Trotman. What's the point of building from the back and then letting it be disrupted if we can avoid it ? -
Rubbish. I called Schneiderlin and Lallan "F**kwits" once, and have conceeded that Adam at least is proving me wrong. I have made no personal comments apart from that. I have plenty criticised their performance, yes, but that is hardly personal.
-
Lallana is the star of the team at the moment, without a doubt. Now that we have money behind us, it will be interesting to see how we deal with approaches from the Premiership in January.
-
Oh dear, this comment has taken the shine off the win for me a little. It means AP will go back to the same mis-firing midfield as soon as Schneiderlin has shaken off his knock. I advocated a midfield of pacy wingers wide and rock-like dominance in the middle earlier this week (though with Holmes instead of Melis), and I think it is the most effective way to play at this level.

After the last two days I've had, I would not have commented more on the game if we had been thumped 5-0 by Gillingham. My absence today has been completely driven by a bigger picture. Your well-wishes prove you are not a d1ck; there a few on here that would have taken the **** out of the situation if they had seen it before you, in fact I regretted revealing this news on here as soon as I submitted the post. I just wish you would ease up on the agression, when you respond to a post you see as less-than-gushing in its praise for the team

Can anyone see Cortese putting up with this much longer ?
alpine_saint replied to alpine_saint's topic in The Saints
One of the more unpleasant aspects of this site is the sheer pettiness, schadenfreude and viciousness that prevails after a victory. Once again, I would like to be directed to a SINGLE post where I have requested that Pardew be sacked. -
Oh, do grow up you irritating little shrub !! I found the time to come on here today to comment positively on the result, despite the fact my 6month pregnant wife collapsed yesterday with hypoglaecemia, is in hospital, and am having to her spirits up and those of my two very young, very frightened sons. There's more to life than f**king scoring petty points over 22 men kicking a bag of cow skin round a field, you know.. Or maybe you dont.
-
And a positive GD.

The elevation of team confidence is more important today than the manner of performance, since Gillingham are sh*te. I am hoping our players relish the taste of big victory and hunger for more.
