Merse I don’t know about but Gazza has always been affected by his mate’s death as a child and his ADHD, among other things. It didn’t helped that many of his teammates just saw his eccentric behaviour as being ‘a bit of a character’ whilst they were out getting smashed with him. I think for him the booze is more of a pain numbing coping mechanism.

Two massive problems with that. First, results are worth the same number of points regardless of who you play and in what league, they’re not like ATP rankings or whatever. If you beat Port Vale and Wycombe, by your logic that makes you a better manager than getting a draw at the Etihad, then beating Arsenal at home. Secondly, PL teams play eight fewer games in a year than FL teams because there are fewer in each league. Last year 89 points won the PL and 36 avoided relegation. Meanwhile 101 points won the Championship and 49 avoided relegation. The points for pretty much every team are guaranteed to be higher.

Supposedly exciting stuff that just doesn't excite you

I think these are supposed to be more interesting than exciting. Obviously the true enthusiasts will have a massive horn, but that pretty much goes for any fanatic, from UFC to stamp collecting. -

Have you ever tried it, or achieved any level of competency at it? Love skiing; the outdoors, the scenery, the speed, the physical challenge, the skill, the social aspect, the apres ski, the foreign culture, the Norwegian women’s biathlon team, the Swedish women’s biathlon team, the Finnish women’s biathlon team, the Ukrainian women’s biathlon team, the Ital… wait I’m getting side tracked here. You can reduce any sport down to a blunt literal definition, football is just 22 millionaires kicking a bag of air around a field, it’s still enjoyable (at least it is for the fans of 91 FL clubs). -
The mainstream meeeja still refusing to blame Freddos for the 1985 Challenger disaster too. Wake up sheeple.
-
I’d say I was patient, personally, but there have got to be some serious signs of improvement in the next few games. Inconsistency I can live with but there has to be evidence that we’re going in the right direction.

I heard someone say addicts aren’t addicts because they need something but because they’re missing something else. No idea to what extent that’s true and I’m sure it’s too generic to explain everything but it does raise an interesting point. You see plenty of retired footballers fall into various addictions, trying to replicate the thrill of professional football in front of a big crowd. I remember Merse on Soccer Saturday saying, “there’s no feeling in the world like scoring a goal, and I’ve tried everything.” Mick Hucknall was famously a ‘sex addict’. He claimed he was that way because he was trying to fill the void left by a lack of love from his mother, which is kind of a sad and messed up way for a guy to feel.

Been there and done that with Poortvleit, we ended up getting relegated in front of crowds of 14,000. People said Jamie White and Jake Thompson couldn’t be worse than BWP and Viafara. They were wrong.

We were in the relegation fight and one point off safety, without our best player. Ralph was the top end of what that squad was capable of, everyone we’ve tried since him has had us plummeting like a stone. Ralph didn’t sew anything, Gao, Ross and Les did, leaving us cripple with an expensive squad of sh*te we couldn’t afford to replace for years. 90th in points is such a nonsense statistic, all that really means is that we were towards the bottom of a league. If you care about that then go and hire the guy 16th in League 2, because he has more points in 2022.
-
I wonder if we’re planning to get Turner into this team next season. Bas, Abbott and Big Keith can’t go on forever.
-
Because he basically said he was going to retire after the Saints job?
-
What exactly do you think we need to forgive?
-
Right, because if we hadn’t loaned him to Burnley, he never would have wanted to leave the Championship for Bauer Leverkusen? The Tella loan worked out great for us, a player who was basically useless and going nowhere became an in demand £20m asset in the space of one season. As for Ballard, he scored against Exeter in a 9-0 win in the EFL trophy. That in no way equates to him being good enough to play Championship football.
-
Never should have been sacked, he kept a squad which was barely an improvement on the one we've got now in the Premier League season after season. Everyone wanted him gone because apparently 15th in the Premier League was an underachievement for this sack of sh*te, which is now getting spanked by Sunderland and Ipswich.
-
I assume you mean a West Brom run, not a 99% Boufal run.
-
My phone says 1946 and no score updates, do I have a network problem?
-
I know Holgate’s debut was bad, and I mean properly f**king rancid, but surely we’ve got to be better off with him in there, rather than Smallbone and Aribo in CM. They’re less of an anchor, more of an inflatable sun lounger.
-
I’m glad it’s not just me, I was starting to think Alcaraz was wearing the emperors new clothes. Everyone is talking about how he’s a class above this league and will rip it apart but almost everything I’ve seen this season, and for large parts of last season, has been sh*te.
-
If this game finishes 0-0 I will eat a pair of wellies, a Machine Mart catalogue and 4kg of loft insulation.
-
I wouldn’t have said Burley was random, quite the opposite in fact. Jermaine Wright. Every. Single. F**king. Game.
-
Between George, Brand and Martin it's been one heck of a s**t weekend for people called Russell.
-
Comparisons with Leicester are pointless, they’re a different club who came down with an arguably much better team and were starting off from a higher platform. We are having to start again from scratch, with one of the worst squads in premier league history, minus its best players. Im not saying Russell is definitely the man to take us forward and if these defensive horror shows continue much longer he’ll have to go, but this is going to take patience regardless of who’s in charge.

A Chorus of Millions of Posts About Each Other
Lighthouse replied to sadoldgit's topic in The Lounge
We created/split this thread so that people who are apparently obsessed with each other can get it out their system, without derailing other threads. Judging by some of the unprovoked nastiness it clearly hasn’t worked, so from now on we’ll just delete the posts involved and ban people. Some of you seriously need to think about what you’re saying to complete strangers and if you’d actually want someone to say that to you, face to face, because I’ll be f**ked if I can understand how you think it’s acceptable. -
Obviously we’ve no idea if any of these stories are true but he is a self confessed massive coke head, amongst other things. He is quite clearly prone to some very erratic and questionable behaviour.

I get the impression Crane could do with a fresh start somewhere else, he’s certainly not doing it here. Does anyone know who’s out of contract this winter and likely to leave?
