Annie Lennox is looking a bit rough these days.
  2. Be very careful guys, you’re dangerously close to agreeing on this issue.
  3. Initially I was against it, my thinking being that the plucky draw at OT or the Etihad becomes less likely if they can just bring on an entirely different, fresh, top class attacking line-up if it's 1-1 after an hour. The flip side of that is that the smaller teams invariably tire first, chasing the game and being out of possession. We can also afford to be a bit dirtier and replace more players on bookings if needs be. It'll probably suit our style overall and be a benefit against teams around us, even if we do lose out more often to bigger clubs. We just need the players on the bench to do it.

We could give him some Clubcard points and a light Smorgasbord.
  5. Dirty Fowls A campaign to improve sanitary conditions at battery hen farms.
  6. I thought Simeu was insane? Or was it Small?
  7. A lack of outrage would be portrayed as people not caring about violence and insults against black people. Media and social media is flooded with comments about racism and toxic masculinity. Amazing how a black man punching another black man manages to get twisted into a black person being assaulted by an aggressive male and never the other way round.
  8. But who makes this list of approved comedy? What can you joke about? A bald bloke, a tall bloke, a fat bloke, a short bloke, a ginger bloke, a guy with a leg missing, Rob Beckett’s big teeth, Bill Bailey’s ‘troll’ appearance, what’s allowed and what isn’t? Jackass spent years building stunts and sketches built around Wee-Man’s dwarfism and Preston’s obesity.
  9. Since you mention it, my mum was treated with chemo about ten years ago and lost all her hair. Both our family and her friends would make light of it from time to time, upsetting though it was, as a way of dealing with it. Would I want some gobsh*te taking the p*ss out of her on stage, obviously not, but the point is comedy is subjective. Many celebrities have dealt with much more serious issues than hair loss with grace and good humour, without resorting to violence.
  10. Spoken like every wife beater there’s ever been.
  11. Seriously, you’re condoning someone responding to jokes with physical violence? I don’t care what he said, Smith’s response was inexcusable. Lots of things in life are upsetting but if we start assaulting anyone who makes jokes about them, that leads to a very dark place.
  12. Been there once, just before Christmas in 2009. Nigh on froze my tits off. Dreadful game, lost 1-0.

It’s nothing to do with strength, it’s about the wisdom of what is actually being said and what he said wasn’t smart. Putin can use it to legitimise his actions; the narrative will be about Nato and Ukrainian Nazis working together to overthrow the Russian government and now he’s gone and implied as much with his own mouth.
  14. Thats not as stupid as it sounds.
  15. Four faces which couldn’t look any more like they’d rather be elsewhere.

Biden put his foot in it with that comment, it’ll galvanise Putin’s support at a time when we’re trying to weaken it. We all want Putin gone but the best chance of doing that is to keep quiet and let them fester. Don’t take any bait, just keep quiet and let Russians dwell on their own losses and self interests.
  17. The shirts did have names. You have cataracts, not Alzheimer's.
  18. This is probably the most repeated post on the forum and I can't tell if it's a superb piece of ironic self-parody or just a coincidence.
  19. You've deliberately ignored the, "playing at his best for 12 years," part. Rooney scored 208 goals in 16 top flight seasons, bang on 13 per season on average. Like I said, a solid 15-20 goal a season striker overall but not as prolific as the likes of Andy Cole.
  20. This circuit’s a farce. Can’t go ten minutes without a heavy impact and a red flag. The F2 earlier was ridiculous.
  21. The point about Henry, Suarez etc. is that Rooney was always ‘very good’ and never the best. I’m not denying Messi wasn’t at his best for Argentina but he is one of, if not the greatest players of all time. Somebody summed up Rooney quite well on here once. He’s Stan Collymore, playing at his best for about 12 years, in a world without Shearer, Owen, Sherringham, Les Ferdinand, Andy Cole, Le Tiss and Fowler.

Would probably be a bit more credible without the DPR flag flying in the background.
  23. For Man United he was consistently a very good player, a solid 15-20 goal a season player, without ever really looking like THE guy. Across his domestic career he just never quite looked as good as Henry, Suarez, Torres, Ronaldo, Aguero, Bale, Drogba, Kane and a few others, on their day. For England he burst onto the scene with two braces against Switzerland and Croatia at Euro 2004 but then what? Lineker, Shearer and Kane all have golden boots from major tournaments, Hurst has a hat trick in a WC final, Owen and Beckham have big goals in crucial games. Rooney just has a consistent stream of goals in qualifiers against Moldova, Estonia and Kazakhstan. He has one goal at a WC in his whole career, a tap in in a defeat to Uruguay in 2014. His career just doesn't scream absolute greatness.
  24. I knew Neil had been arrested for it, I didn’t realise the other two were involved.
  25. I think both could be loaned out if nothing else. Some mug will probably take a punt on Theo like we did, except without all that faux nostalgia about coming home. Djenepo will probably end up abroad somewhere, albeit with us paying a slice of his wages. He may have been in the right place for a handful of tidy finishes but aside from that I just don’t think it’s true. Too many games just pass him by.
