  1. If someone derives comfort from the idea of a man in the sky watching over them and that when they die they will be happily reunited with Grandma, Uncle Ray and all their childhood guinea pigs, I don’t have a problem with that. If people want to pray for help, that’s none of my business. I don’t have a problem with belief as such, if it is completely separate from organised religion. The problem is it never is. If you’re telling a child they will go to hell if they commit various sins or don’t say their prayers, that is very much not, "to each their own." That’s child abuse, plain and simple.
  2. Any atheist could be persuaded if presented with credible evidence but no such thing has ever been put forward. It would have to be something well beyond the boundaries of known science for me. For example a giant bearded man appearing in the sky and giving me clear instructions on Christianity. Even then, I’d be sceptical. I’d be asking other people living nearby if they’d seen the same, seeking a medical checkup, MRI scan and blood tests etc. To make sure it was real.
  3. I really don’t think any of the CBs we’ve watched this season ave been anything other than average. As well as we ended the season, JB and JS are both prone to the odd clanger, ball watching and some bizarre positional choices at times. CB is our weakest position and I wouldn’t shed a tear over any of them leaving.
  4. Hypothetically, I’d probably take £15m for MO but ten seems a bit on the low side these days.
  5. I guess if you’re going to leave early, they’re not wrong.
  6. Frasier was good but I wouldn’t name a school after him, personally.
  7. Perhaps it was all planned as part of a phased changeover. If you wash the shirt a second time you get an advert for ‘shots for £1’ in Orange Rooms.
  8. No surprise about the top spot, that game is mental.
  9. Almost feels like it’s worth £15m to get that stupid company off our shirts.
  10. Fuck Mini Babybell.
  11. I don’t know if anyone else watches 8 out of 10 Cats does Countdown but there was a comedian on last week who suffered from cerebral palsy. I don’t want to be cruel and I do admire her for not letting it stop her but it really was painfully awkward to watch.
  12. I wouldn’t put it last them to break into one of those flats in St Mary’s, although knowing them they’d pick one facing west.
  13. Fascinating. Since there’s no actual link or substance to this story, I suggest you take your love affair to the duck rape thread, or better yet PM.
  14. Good news, it’ll ease the load on the NHS.
  15. https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-middle-east-53770859 Am I being naive or is this genuinely good news?
  16. What do we reckon, could these protests be the beginning of the end of ‘Europe’s last dictator’?
  17. It would make sense. None of it really matters but if we’re being traditional: 2. KWP 3. Vokins 6. Salisu 8. Whoever’s replacing PEH. Possibly Smallbone or Reed. 11. Maybe N’Lundulu. We haven’t really got any first team attackers above #25. 13. Gunn maybe. 15. Bednarek maybe, or Salisu.
  18. The point is that just because it’s not someone’s job, doesn’t mean they aren’t making valid, intelligent points.
  19. No it isn’t, you’re right. However many of these humourous entertainers seem to make more coherent arguments than the religious crackpots they come up against. Was Rashford wrong about school dinners because he’s just a footballer?
  20. There are plenty of pastors, imams and other religious leaders who are fantastic orators. However when I’ve seen them debating with the people I’ve mentioned, I’ve yet to see any of them come up with a convincing argument.
  21. I love watching videos if Hitchens, Harris, Dawkins, Gervais or Fry on YouTube. Hitch has to be my favourite though, seeing religious leaders floundering around his wit and intellect is just wonderful.
  22. Wish him all the best but in all honesty I don’t think I’ve ever watched him and thought, "aaah, I’ll be gutted when he leaves!" Like I did with Mané, Tadic and Van Dijk. There’ll be no animosity from me when he comes back to St Mary’s, his attitude has always been spot on if nothing else. Good luck Pierre.
  23. Perhaps if we sign Skipp we can get rid of some of the rubbish in our squad.
  24. TBF you could say that about most of our recent history, except for a brief period between 2009-2013.
