  1. I'd say our strongest XI is an almost 50:50 hybrid of those two sides. The starting 11 plus Cedric, Bertrand, Gabbi, Tadic and Stephens/Virgil. Freshness wont be an issue, it's the first game for crying out loud.
  2. Maybe, maybe not. To me it would seem that he is being viewed as a first team option at least. If that's the case, with him, Yoshida, Virgil, Gardos and Stephens I doubt we're after another.
  3. Perhaps he was when he signed. The numbers would have been submitted several weeks before we signed Toby, he was just taking it from Lovren.
  4. RE: Bednarek, was just going by this https://southamptonfc.com/first-team
  5. Not that I'm really anal enough to be bothered about some numbers but they often seem to reflect the first team. Bednarek seems to be going straight in at 6, implying that we're not after a first choice defender. Gabbi at 9 would seem fairly obvious. 12, 15 and 18 all free.
  6. It's more than just cock waving. If someone was building nukes to aim at me, I'd be trying to do something about it too. Bear in mind the US has absolutely no motivation for a war on China's doorstep. There isn't even any oil there for the conspiracy theorists to get their knickers moist over.
  7. Forster to have an improved season and criticsm of him will die down. Gabbi top scorer on 15, Charlie with 10 Boufal shows talent but still doesn't deliver Good season for JWP. JS promising but gets found out more playing in a more attacking team. 8-12th
  8. What an odd outlook on the situation. North Korea tortures tens of thousands of its own citizens to death in camps the Nazis would have been proud of, over the tiniest of indiscretions. You've seen what they did to Otto Warmbier for stealing a poster and you're okay with them building ICBM with nuclear warheads.
  9. It's not so much of a deterant if you're using it to make megalomaniac threats against half of your neighbours and the US.
  10. If you count an entire country living in poverty under the brutal oppression of a regime, which is hell-bent on building a nuclear warhead capable of hitting the USA; then yes. Are you just being facetious here or do you genuinely believe that a dictatorship fanatically obsessed with nuclear weapons is doing no wrong?
  11. Boufal has the skills but not the attitude. He has the talent to be outstanding, if he could only apply himself. Tadic is exceptional on his day but inconsistent. Redmond has his moments and would be a good player to bring off the bench, if we had better starters. JWP is no world beater but brings something with his delivery, we just haven't found out his best position yet. Davis I'm no great fan of but you can rely on him to go to OT or the Etihad, not be intimidated and put a decent shift in. He's also a model pro and a good role model. Long is substandard, no arguments there. Targett doesn't look PL quality to me either. Gallagher is at least worth a try after last season. The only players we have who I don't really think warrant a place in the squad are Long, Gardos, Targett and Clasie. The rest all have a role, even if not as starters.
  12. One North Korea described his country as having a 'bright' future. Well that's one way of putting it.
  13. Knowing Baj as I do, I think it's more likely to be monk based.
  14. He looked alright in a team which was at best 'cautious' last season. I haven't seen enough to be convinced by him and I especially wouldn't want a CB pairing with 17 senior apps between them.
  15. I'm not entirely sure 9-3 is an actual person. Think it may just be a piece of malware the admins can't get rid of.
  16. Supposedly they were after him for £25m. If only.... would have been hilarious.
  17. Worked out fine with Toby as far as I'm concerned.
  18. Assuming that is true, it's an obvious choice for Roberts. Celtic have the rich heritage, the massive fan base, the big stadium, the passionate noisy atmosphere and a chance to win a domestic title. All we've got to offer him is Premier League money, so I think we all know which he will choose.
  19. They needed to make those signings though, they had one of the worst defences in the League. They already had Ake in the first half of last season and Begovic isn't much of an upgrade on Boruc, the latter is just getting old. They don't have Yoshida, Bertrand, Virgil (sic), Cedric, Stephens and Forster. We're still far better in that department.
  20. They had a freak combination of factors all falling into place for them. If I was putting money on it, they wont make the top 6 again for another 10 years. His team talk will largely along the line of we can win this game, which we can. What we can't do is compete with clubs like Man Utd, spending £170m on 2 players over a full year.
  21. His is a decent crosser and can link up well with Cedric on the overlap. If there's anywhere I think he fits, it's AMR and definitely not DM as some seem to be suggesting. Incidentally why is Boufal in so many people's starting line up? I've seen little of him other than being a show pony with a crap attitude. A couple of screamers against dogsh*t opposition isn't enough to warrant a starting place.
  22. Iain McDonnel-O'Brien, he's our new Irish wide man. Very much the 'chalk on his boots' Marc Overmars type.
  23. Don't like it, there's nobody in there to create chances. I'd have at least one of Tadic and Redmond on the pitch, probably both from our current options. From Gabbi's goals so far, I'd say he's most effective playing off the last man. His runs and movement are excellent. - - - - OR - - - PEH - - - - JWP - - - - - DT - - - - - NR - - - - - - - MG - - - - - - - IMO
  24. They can have him. He had 3 full seasons with United and scored 13, 10 and 10 League goals. Austin and Gabbi are both capable of that.
