Jeez, don't be such a soppy wet blanket. Last night was disappointing but people saying it was 'the worst game they have ever seen' and 'as bad as losing 8-0', come off it. We beat Blackpool in the Cup when we were in League 1 and they were in the Premier League. I think I will remember the 8-0 a bit longer than that somehow. It's a cup upset, they happen in every round. Give it a couple of years and even games like United losing to MK will be forgotten.

To me his signing still doesn't make sense. I could tell before we signed him that he wasn't particularly good. His scoring record at this level is poor and he isn't exactly velcro-boots when it comes to hold up play and bringing those in around him. I just don't see how professional football scouts, coaches and managers can think he is worth £12m when any casual Saturday afternoon fan can tell he isn't. Please don't give me the 'he offers something different' argument either. Running around a lot and not scoring is different but it isn't good. It's like saying Mane is good because he is 'unpredictable'. Just because he has toblerone feet and half of his crosses get spooned into the car park.

Oh, and Darren Powell.

Every missing player seems to be the answer. For a while this season it was JWP. It has also been Morgan, Victor, Davis, Toby and (for some weird reason) Reed. We let Gaston go because we replaced him with Mane. Hindsight is a wonderful thing but at the time it seemed a sensible enough decision. In 2 years we've not had much return from Gaston and his beefy wage packet.

We've had plenty of games which were as bad or worse than that. It's barely 2 years ago we lost 6-1 to Arsenal and Sunderland in the Cup was as bad last year. There were plenty of dreadful games the season we went down from the Championship and a fair few the year before when we narrowly stayed up. Losing at Bristol Rovers in the Cup was easily as bad as tonight

Yeah funny how 91 out of the 92 clubs always seem to blow it. There was me thinking 6 or 7 teams would win the League Cup this year but everyone seems to be blowing it again. At this rate there will only be 2 teams left by the time we get to the final.

Yes. We knew we needed another striker before our poor form. Lambert wasn't the answer then and he isn't now. There are better strikers out there, Lambert is slowing and not getting any younger.
