Nobody is writing it off but if there is a choice between our strongest team today or Sunday, it should be today. It's by far our best chance to win.
-
It doesn't involve Mane, I know that.
-
This is the best chance to get 3 points so you would play your best team. If we are indeed resting players today, don't win as a result and then lose to Chelsea (as our strongest team probably will anyway) we will look stupid. It should be our strongest team today and then assess things again before Chelsea.

Why Long, Wanyama and Tadic on the bench? I can only assume the latter isn't fit. Mane... you know the rest.

3rd if Newcastle can pull off the unlikely at OT.

Odd how being middle class is somehow seen as an insult. It's not as if middle class means posh toff, the clue is in the name really. For any Palace fans reading, hello I am middle class. I have never been hunting with hounds on Boxing Day morning, nor was I in the four Yorkshiremen sketch.

I really don't see the appeal in Lambert. If we're going for sentimentality why not offer Pahars a 6 month deal? I know Liverpool haven't exactly got the best out of him but he hasn't really seized his opportunity their either. He isn't scoring and despite Liverpool having terrible options up front, he hasn't really imposed himself as their first choice striker. We were trying to replace him for 2 seasons, first with Osvaldo and now with Pelle. In the second half of last season he looked knackered and well off the pace and he isn't getting any younger. Lets move on shall we.

If anything I'd say Brighton and then Reading were more conservative than Saints. They won the League because they were consistently better at being one goal better than the opposition but I believe Saints were the better team in both seasons. We just got undone by some bay off days, like losing home and away to Rochdale and Bristol City. Once Brighton got promoted they weren't one goal better any more, hence they finished well below us. Likewise Reading when they got promoted and went straight back down, whilst Saints and West Ham were more competitive. We would have won the Championship were it not for one of the most bizarre refereeing decisions I've ever seen at Boro in the penultimate game. One of their defenders fouled Lallana when through on goal. The ref gave the foul but didn't even book the defender (who was already on a yellow) despite it being a blatant straight red.

I fly Boeings for a living, there is no technology on board any of their planes which could be used as a remote control. All the autopilot does if follow the pilots commands, whether it be headings, altitudes, speeds or a pre determined route in the flight management computer. There is no way Al Qa'ida have developed the technology to over ride and manually fly a 777 from it's existing route into an American military building hundreds of miles away. Even less likely that they then managed to get it through security at a major international airport, spend several days installing it into a 777 without anyone noticing then expect it to all work perfectly without anyone noticing. To also incapacitate the pilot would require hijacking a plane and getting through security at a major international airport. Even if you are successful in all of that, you have hijacked a plane... so why would you then need to pilot it remotely. All of this just sounds massively implausible to me. I know people love to think governments are all run by evil masterminds who think of cunning and ingenious ways to murder innocent people and make it look like the enemy but this is too far fetched.
-
So the Malaysians (world famous for their state of the art military hardware) have developed something so important that the Americans would murder a couple of hundred innocent civilians to prevent it from going to China. Yet at the same time it is so unimportant that the Chinese stuck it in the cargo hold of a passenger plane, rather than a top secret military flight of their own. Yeah, that makes perfect sense. I completely missed the part where searching for the wreckage somewhere has been forbidden. Got a link? I don't get why anyone would spend tens of millions looking for the plane elsewhere if they knew full well it was in some forbidden area.

I'm pretty sure he just picks whoever gets the most goals and assists and bodges them all in.

Have you been on those mushrooms again ART? 'Remotely hijacked' what a load of horse sh*t, you can't remotely control a commercial airliner nor did anyone think that was the case. That article is nonsense. For a start most fire extinguishers on aircraft are halon, which may well float if an extinguisher was dropped in water. Also the toilet extinguisher is the only one I can think of which would automatically discharge. Also, why would the US military shoot down a plan over the Indian Ocean (then deny all knowledge)? It wouldn't have enough fuel to get within 5,000 miles of the US main land. If it were possible to 'remotely hijack' an airliner you would do it near the US mainland and target a big city, not some remote military airbase with minimal staff and media exposure.

Think I mentioned this on the first page and got asked the same question. I guess it would depend on whether United genuinely feel we are a threat to the top 4. If not, perhaps they feel they would benefit from us beating teams like Arsenal and Spuds. Would be an excellent option to have and would cost very little.
-
Defeat at Burnley would leave just 4 points between the 2 sides. Unlikely but would be a nice Boxing Day present if it happened.
-
I know. I remember in summer there was some idiot who reckoned we should 'graciously drop out the League' because we didn't have a hope of staying up. Some people on here eh...
-
Stonewall penalty. Ironically we would probably have missed it, yet we scored the corner. Everton remind me of Wigan a bit (funny that). Some good play in possession and they are decent to watch but naive and prone to letting in simple goals. A bit like us in our first season up.
-
I think we need to invest in some form of tank or hovercraft to prevent this from happening again.
-
That post is stupid enough even without the facial hair. He is basically saying that if a 19 year old isn't ready for first team action then our academy isn't good enough.

Fixed it for you.

Didn't long get sent off in that game? (Along with Gaston and Fox)

Delicious IMO.
