Liverpool are already talking about him as 'the next Steven Gerrard'. Big future ahead of him.
-
No. Just... no. I respect him for staying here and not going to sit on West Ham's bench but it was hardly a Le Tiss-esque display of loyalty. He earned very good money staying here and got to play first team football. I doubt he has forfeited a monster pay rise. We wouldn't be in League 1 without him either. He is a good 'keeper but there are others out there, he isn't a unique talent.

With a higher capacity and at 1/3 the cost. The Amex is nice but it isn't that nice.

I think this could be one of those Turkish threads where he takes the views of 3 contrasting posters, mashes them together as if they all came from the same schizophrenic individual, pretends this view is upheld by the majority of the forum and takes the intellectual high ground.

Somewhat at odds with Don't you think?
-
We have. We have signed Pelle and Tadic What makes you think we wont spend any more? How much do you think we should have spent on Bertrand?
-
We also signed a player who had previously been average at Villa. Ended up in the England squad.
-
Again, why the insistence on spending money just because we have it? We spent £15m on Osvaldo and £800k on Steven Davis. It's not about the money, it's about the right deal.
-
Which is why we're taking Bertrand on loan and have the option to buy. What if he has a good season and turns out to be as good as Clyne?
-
It's an option, if he has a successful season he will be worth £10m. On the flip side, if someone bought Clyne for £10m tomorrow how would you feel?
-
If by dammed you mean we get an excellent LB free for a season, then yes we are dammed. We would all rather spend £15m on the next Luke Shaw but that's just not going to happen is it. If we get to the end of the window and this is our only signing, then I will start to panic.
-
I'm not sure why people are annoyed because it's a loan signing. Just because we have money, doesn't mean we NEED to spend it. By all accounts, Ryan is unproven at this level so it would seem pretty silly to go chucking a £5m transfer fee and 4 year contract at him if he turns out to be crap. This way we can get the best of both worlds with an option to buy. I doubt he is on loan because we can't afford the transfer fee.
-
Well, it's a LB. Welcome Ryan

Were it not for Redknapp I'd have Burley as manager for his sheer ineptitude and detachment from reality in his final season here. As for players: Forren - Don't know WTF was going on with him, not to even get on the pitch. Lovren, Lallana, Jones - Going on strike for no other reason than greed. Dyer, BWP - For the Pompey nightclub incident. Osvaldo - Obviously

Gaston was co-owned by Penarol IIRC. Never heard of this new fellar (assuming it's true) but it's someone in the door I guess. -
This. If you think Britain is bust and our military is under funded you should see the Argies. I think if we all turned up for another skirmish the penguins would fight both sides off.

Shania Twain I probably still would.

William Hill stop taking bets on Saints relegation
Lighthouse replied to lumuah's topic in The Saints
I can only assume you have bet every penny you own on this absolute fact? If you can get odds of 6-1 on an absolute certainty, surely that's just a license to print money. Either that or you're just being a big girls blouse but we all know that's definitely not the case. -
Personally I'm going to go and support the few remaining players who do actually want to be here. By which I mean the ones who aren't good enough to get a move to a Champions League club. They all would if they could it's not something new. I'll save my boycotting for the start of the season. If we haven't spent a fair chunk of the £115m we've sold or selling by then I wont be going to the West Brom game.

Tedious isn't it. I'm going to start spamming these threads with black and decker products.

Will this be the best transfer window for Saints ever?
Lighthouse replied to Mallagroth's topic in The Saints
You would have preferred Pekhart and Robertson? Okay, fair enough. Strange how when someone says something positive about a player it's all, "let's wait and reserve judgment," and yet when it's a player leaving or a rumour it's immediately doom and gloom, our club is a joke, we're a laughing stock etc. etc. I don't see much judgment being reserved on the Morgan, Chambers and Lovren rumours. -

If you think this is anyone close to the transfer window of 2007 or 2008 then you need your head looking. Yes we've lost some good players but we've replaced them with good players too. I think most of us would have given our right arm for Pelle and Tadic when we were signing Pekhart and Robertson on loan. -
I am constantly being told we can't sell our players quick enough but it takes forever to sign new ones. Even though we've signed Pelle and Tadic before we've sold Chambers, Morgan or Lovren. It's almost as if the board are considering their options carefully and looking for new players based on the money made available by selling others. This kind of thing is outrageous and I won't stand for it. We need to spend our money on anyone we can find immediately. £20m on Scott Sinclair and £15m on Curtis Davies should get us started. It takes a day to make a signing on Football Manager FFS!
