  1. This thread is about elements. If you want to talk about compounds start your own thread FFS!
  2. Strange because some of our worst performances of the season came after he was banned. The 3-2 collapse at home to Villa, the 4-1 game at Fratton (would have been nice to have had 1 player who didn't bottle that), the 3-0 loss at Blackburn where we didn't manage a shot all game, the Man Utd cup game where we didn't even turn up.
  3. Yes, 10 games was ludicrous, especially as the original offence was only a 1 match ban for a second yellow. Joey Barton only got 12 games for 3 counts of violent conduct and Roy Keane got 5 games for deliberately going out and ending Haaland's career.
  4. Got to be caesium for me. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Umn5YG3RBSM
  5. Should have thrown a tortoise. Would have done much more damage.
  6. No, nobody every did that. He was built up on here because he was captain of the England U21 when/just before we signed him. Nobody gives a sh*t about him clapping the fans apart from the people who say, "people only like him because he claps the fans." I thought he had the potential to be a decent player and seemed to be improving but that 10 game ban and his bad injury the following season completely derailed his career.
  7. Click on alpine's user name, it will take you to his profile. On the menu on the left there is an option which says, "Add to ignore list." Click it and all of our lives will spared ENDLESS nonesense. It's 8 seconds of your life very well spent. Responding to his crap is not. Agree with the OP. This is a very exciting team for the future if we can keep it together.
  8. Ski jumping and paintball.
  9. Didn't realise Saints were so popular in the Inner Hebrides.
  10. Anyone know who is out of contract in summer? The only ones I know for certain are Davis, Puncheon, Forecast and Butters. I'd be trying to shift Barnard, Butters, Seaborne, Forte, Dickson for certain as they don't even get on the bench as back up these days and are well down the pecking order. There are a few others if we sign a better option, like Davis, Martin, Fox and Chaplow
  11. Mansfield made a very touching tribute to the Hillsborough victims by leaving 96 seats empty for the Liverpool game. Portsmouth are planning to make a similar tribute to the victims of bubonic plague this weekend.
  12. They will be gone by May/August (probably March too)
  13. Try that on a lot of low cost and other short haul flights and you will get a pretty blank look.
  14. Been asking around on an Inter fore arm. So far all I've got is; "There seems to be an offer of 12m for Coutinho from Southampton. The club is evaluating as it would depend on the situation with Alvarez and Wes (two others likely to be sold). My personal opinion is Southhampton should keep their grubby mitts away from Coutinho. You guys already got Ramirez and we want to keep Cou"
  15. And Lallana, Lambert, Gaston, Puncheon, JRod and Morgan have all had very 'clumsy' shots which landed in the car park this year. The difference being the ball goes out for a goal kick and 10 minutes later it is pretty much forgotten about. The joys of being a defender, all the headers, tackles and interceptions are pretty much forgotten about as soon as that ball rebounds off the 'keeper onto your shin and into the empty net from 2 feet out.
  16. It's not so much 'the Don can do no wrong' as 'the Don ISN'T doing anything wrong'. If we had were offering 3 year £60kpw contracts to players like Bosingwa (and many would have us doing that because he is 'Premier League experience' then I would be worried. As it is we are buying £12m young players who we can sell for £12m if needed. We are buying £200k houses, whilst QPR are buying £200k Ferraris and Reading have a 2 man tent. Who is going to have the most valuable assets in 3 years time?
  17. TBF, this guy's youtube video makes Steve De Ridder's youtube video look like Rudi Skacel's youtube video. He's the mutt's nuts.
  18. On the subject of out of favour Manure players, Alex Buttner has hardly set the world alight. I know being not good enough for Utd doesn't nescessarily make you a bad player but he hasn't made a Prem appearance since matchday 4. I'm not suggesting HCDAJFU, just something to remember next time we don't sign a target and people are outraged when he signs for someone else.
  19. All true. We must always be vigilant with regards to our club and the chairmen, however I trust Cortese more than I ever trusted Lowe or Wilde. I know he does some weird stuff to p*ss people off, like the programme sellers and an apparent spat with MLT but relatively speaking that's all minor stuff. He's chosen the right manager for the job and backed him with his cheque book. I don't think we will end up like the Skates because we know where the money is coming from. This club is a long term investment by a very sucessful business family. The Skates were different. Nobody knew where the money was really coming from and why people like Gaydamak were apparently willing to p*ss money up the wall with no prospect of future proffits. All this money is needed to turn Saints from League 1 relegation fodder to Premier League European contenders. If we are a stable midtable Premier League club I believe we can be run profitably. Lets say we stay up and sign these 2 Carlos Kickaballs from Italy. Next season we would have a pretty strong Premier League team and wouldn't have to spend another £30 to stay up. Pompey were different. They HAD the success, winning the cup, top half of the League, UEFA Cup run and they STILL Made a loss of about £25m for the year. We wont be like that.
  20. It makes perfect sense to me. IF we go down and IF we have to sell players to balance the books, I doubt players like Rod and Ram would go for less than we bought them for. Both are good young players who will only get better. Astori and Coutinho are in a very similar boat. It wont be like last time when Crouch was the only player in the squad worth more than £1m.
  21. If you can't trust a Swiss Banker to look after your money then you can't trust anyone. Cortese knows what he's doing.
  22. If we do go down I can't really see Rod or Lambert leaving, meaning he would still be 3rd choice striker. I'd love to see him here as those three would be a huge step towards getting promoted again. I'd prefer he stayed but I suspect Billy will want first team football. Anyway, is there anything at all behind this rumour other thanthe OP saying, 'rumours flying around'. Or is this just a bunch of nobodies on twitter retweeting a load of nonesense.
  23. I very much doubt it. You don't spend 12m euro to cover an injured player for 3 or 4 months. That's the kind of money Saints would pump into a player only if he was a long term investment. If we had loaned someone like Benayoun, that would have been more of an indication that Lallana has a bad injury.
  24. A lot of people seem to think Jos would be a complete disaster in defence, based on the results earlier on in the season but I tend to think this is a bit harsh. There is more to it than that, for example. 1. In the games Jos played we had Davis in midfield, not Cork. I'm yet to be convinced by Davis, we look a lot weaker as a team defensively with him in the midfield instead of JC. Cork's return from injury 'magically' coincided with our improved form and much tighter defensive displays and Jos never got the benefit of this to make him look better. 2. He played in defence with Fonte and Fox but never got to play along side Shaw and Yoshi, who I would argue are better players. Yoshi reads the game better and makes interceptions which keep his partner out of trouble. Shaw is just better than Fox full stop. 3. The Arsenal game which many will point to as one of our worst displays this season. He scored a very unfortunate o.g. he could do little about but went off injured when we were only 1-0 down. The complete collapse happened after he had gone off. I'm not saying he played well but we were absolutely dreadful when he went off. 4. Other defenders looked much worse than him and have since improved and looked very good, whilst Jos didn't get the chance. I'm thinking specifically of Fonte and Clyne who were both a liability at times earlier in the season. Both made a lot of crucial errors which lead to goals. I think if we had to rely on Hooiveld in defence for a while it wouldn't be the end of the world. Next to Yoshi and behind Cork and Morgan I think he would do much better than we've seen so far. Last season I had him down as one of our best players and better than Fonte, in a defence which was better than any except Reading. He didn't become a bad players overnight. We need a new CB but surely JH has done enough in the past to deserve a decent second chance.
