Even if we sold all of those players, which we wont, it still leaves us with a fair amount of decent back up. 2 'keepers, Richardson, Jos, Fox, S. Davis, JWP, Mayuka and J Rod. That's a first team squad of 20 players. With 3 or 4 new signings that would be a pretty strong squad. In reality I think we will see 2 or 3 players sold, a couple of extended loans and maybe 2 or 3 signings. Also I forgot to add Butters to the list of players who can leave.

There are a few like Mayuka, JWP, S. Davis on the fringes of the squad who will no doubt stay but there are a fair few others who can't get near the first team. Who do we think might or should move on in January? Hammond - On loan for the season but I'd have thought a permanent deal with Brighton would make sense for all 3 parties. Sharp - Same as Hammond, can't really see him getting a look in here. Barnard - Loan expires in January. Would look to sell. Seaborne - Only on loan till the day after we play Reading. I was never convinced by him in League 1. Would look to sell. Forte - Not even named in our 25 man squad Dickson - As above De Ridder - CDAJF a Championship club, wont get a look in here Guly - We have better options now and should probably look to find one or two more in January Chaplow - Is he good enough, does he fit our current system? Don't think so. Lee - Maybe he just needs time after his injury. Not sure on this one, he did look good in his brief spell last year.

Well we need someone else to replace Adkins now that Bagpuss has gone to QPR, she seems to have a pretty good grasp of things. Not sure about Delap though, we might have to explain that one to her.

West Ham looked pretty poor and have some very tought fixtures coming up. I don't think they will be in trouble this year but it wont be all that comfortable either. I missed Saints highlights as I'd only just got back in. Why couldn't Chelsea or Man City score a couple so that game was on first.

Would have prefered a draw there to keep Wigan in it. Feckin' Everton though, what's betting they had about 50 chances to make it 2-0 but had an 'off day' in front of goal. Sunderland, QPR and Reading lose with Villa possibly to join them this evening. Can't be too unhappy with that.

Our defeat at West Brom maybe not looking quite as bad these days. If they can hang on to this lead (against a team who just can't score) they will be 2 points off the top of the League, albeit having played a game more than Man City.

There seems to be some kind of inverse law with the women I know on Facebook. The hotter they are the more boring the sh*t they post. Kids are pretty irritating but the worst have got to be the photos taken at arms length whilst pouting for no apparent reason.

I'm not so sure about this sort of thing. If we keep it up, our coaching staff will be made up largely of retired Saints players when really we need to be going for the best people we can get.

Kelvin has always had his limitations as a 'keeper and I was aprehensive about having him in goal before the start of the season. I remember him drawing a lot of criticism even in League 1 for being beaten too easily at his near post and not coming for crosses. He got away with it to an extent in the lower leagues but I think the PL is slightly above his level. Had a bit of a 'mare with Sunderland too I think.

Is he theirs to sell? I thought pretty much all their players were on month to month rolling contracts and could just bugger off whenever they wanted.

I would say no. I'm sure in the future promoting the clubs image abroad will become a large priority. Right now we have bigger priorities like sorting out our defence and staying in the league. Bringing in Beckham wont help us and the large media circus etc. may disturb the team ethic somewhat. I doubt he will be all that good as a player either. Robert Pries was as good as Beckham on his day. He joined Villa at a similar age a couple of years ago and was hopeless. There are very few players still capable of playing at that level when they're 37. I don't see any need to try when we've got very capable young players in Lallana, Gaston and Puncheon.

Nobody has asked if Skacel has signed yet. My faith in you lot has been ever so slightly restored.

Because he is a Saints player who is being linked with another club? He isn't the inbred offspring of Branfoot and his sister that we keep locked in the attic and don't talk about. Christ, the way some people are going on at him you'd think he'd been caught drowning puppies. We will have to rename this Skacel syndrome I think. "I saw a 3 minute youtube video of all the goals he scored in a year and he looked world class. Apparently he isn't world class, what a c**t!"

I think he could do a decent job in the championship. The problem is he never suited our style of play and seemed on a completely different wavelength from the other players. We played with the likes of Lallana and Guly cutting in from wide and into central possitions. Steve is much more the traditional wide man, running for the by-line with chalk on his laces. Let's not demonise him as being useless. Aside from the Reading game he came on and made a big difference at home to Ipswich and at Coventry and he had a decent game on Boxing Day against Palace. He also changed the game when he came on at Cardiff but it was far too late to make a difference. There were other decent performances too, just not consistent enough to make the spot his own. Good luck to him wherever he ends up. Seems a nice lad (on twitter anyway) and clearly has some tallent.
