  1. He's far too good for this level and I wouldn't take him anyway because of his injury record. No doubt some Premier League manager will ignore 3 years spent in the physio room and take a punt, but it wont be us.
  2. No doubt a few of you will have seen this, but if you haven't...
  3. Chris Baird vs. Cardiff '07 - Chris was a decent player for us, but hardly famous for his goals. I remember on a rather dull evening in March we got a free kick, about 30 yards out slightly right of centre. Everyone was expecting Bale to take it, so when Skacel knocked the ball 5 yards to the right everyone groaned. Then Baird hit an absolute howitzer into the top corner to put us 2-0. Of course we threw it away in the second half and drew 2-2. Harding vs Tranmere. Would have been around December '09 I think. Another decent defender, not known for his goals. Got the ball on the left, just outside the penalty box and thumped it into the top corner. Nothing will beat that Thomas goal though. That was just biblical.
  4. Alright smart arses, but I was talking specifically about strikers. I know DC has NpC experience, but he is practically a cripple. I think Barny may have a handfull of games on loan from Spuds, but other than that we don't have any experience in this league.
  5. Really? Good job Nugent never found out, he'd smack you one.
  6. Would be very happy if we signed Nugent. A decent player with a scoring record comparable to Sharp at this level. If anything I wish we'd signed him instead of Connolly, as Nugent is about 10 years younger and doesn't have a fettish for physiotherapy. If we can get him on a free it's a no brainer IMO. None of our lot are proven in the CCC.
  7. Correct me if I'm wrong, but were the strikes not due to a pay freeze at a time when BA was losing £300m a year? If that is the case, it's kind of stupid asking for a pay rise when your company is in the sh*t. As for living near London on £20-23k, cabin crew at all the other airlines seem to managed it, infact I know several who have just just joined BA from other airlines on this 'new contract.' None of them have had any complaints about it or any inclination to strike.
  8. You have to pretend not to drink Carling, Carlsberg, Heineken, Budweiser, 1664, Fosters etc. because it makes you look well 'ard. You really haven't got the hang of this internet lark.
  9. A lot of things going to happen "at the end of the day." Can't wait for midnight.
  10. 'ere ya go.
  11. I think Pulis beat him to it.
  12. Cork signs!!
  13. Do you remember in 2006 when this joke was actually funny? Ah, good times. Being 1st July we could well announce the signing of someone on a free, who's contract expires at the end of June. My gut feeling is it will just be the usual routine about the new season. We're keeping our best players, we are looking into the transfer market. We are taking preparations seriously, everyone is very optimistic etc. etc.
  14. Would rather take Nugent on a free than pay £3m plus for Sharp.
  15. Ahhhh, do you guys remember back in 2004 when editing wikipedia was really funny. Those were the days.
  16. Clearly not.
  17. There is a whole world of difference between standing up for your rights and what happened at BA with their cabin crew over the last 2 years. Their cabin crew on the old contract were obscenely overpaid for what they did and still went on strike it was pure greed. I know quite a few cabin crew and none of them agreed with the BA strikes. In fact many of them have now got jobs with BA on a worse (although still very good) deal. The term 'safety trained waitress' is a bit of a slander on their job, but in essence it was true. I basically did their job when I was 16 for minimum wage in a Little Chef. I fail to see why someone should get paid £50k a year because they can do that and open an airplane door. Barney, you're a bit of a hypocrit pointing out a "me me me" philosophy, then defending the cabin crew strikes.
  18. Don't forget Connolly and Barnard. FWIW I'm pretty sure we weren't in for Dale Stephens and 'underwhelmed' wouldn't have done my emotions justice if we were. Looked pretty average in a league below.
  19. I never saw the problem with Sandstorm by Darude. Always seemed to get a bit of intensity going before the game.
  20. The difference being that Virgin Atlantic pilots aren't as absurdly overpaid as the BA cabin crew who were striking. Not saying I agree with it, but there motives are understandable.
  21. From most of the accounts I've read it seems about 10-12 years is the break even point for having panels installed. On top of that, the panels are an asset and will add around £10,000 to the value of your property. It's certainly something I will consider when I get my arse on the property ladder. One question though, does anyone know if you can get a mortgage to cover the installation costs, since they will technically become a part of the property? In my view, it's just like having an extension built.
  22. Christ you remember some weird sh*t Baj. Most random thing I can remember was the two warthogs ****ging on the back of that lorry.
  23. Yeah I seem to remember arriving at the circuit around 8am on race day. You wont really get bored waiting for the race, the support races are pretty entertaining. Spend at least one of the practice sessions sat next to Kemmel straight. The noise of an F1 car going up there full beans is something to behold. Take ear plugs too. No matter how hard you think you are (*cough* Mike) you will have a headache in 5 minutes without them. The inside of Bruxelles hairpin is probably the best place to see the cars. You are within about 20 feet of the cars going past, on a small hill so you are above the fence line with an unobstructed view. This is the best place for taking photos by far. For qualy and race day, I'd reccomend the bank on the run down to Pouhon. There is quite a lot of space, so you will get several thousand people sat there. There is a big screen opposite too, so you can keep up to date with all the possitions and action from elsewhere. Francorchamps is probably the best place to park and there are quite a few stalls and places selling beer on the way down to the circuit. Wish I could go again this year, but work stops play. Enjoy it, you will have an absolute blast. Take ear plugs, waterproofs, sun cream, a camera and plenty of water.
  24. Yes. Been last 3 years, what do you want to know?
  25. A fee years ago the LSE announced we'd made the biggest signing in the history of football. £136m to build an oil rig off the coast of China. NOTHING will ever top that, and it wasn't even a rumour, it was 'officially announced' the OS even had to run a story denying it. Was the summer the Dutch duo joined i think.
