  1. He would have been an excellent player for us in different circumstances, but fate just seemed to transpire against him. There was always something stopping him from delivering his best and it really wan't his fault. The first couple of months he was unfit, having been frozen out by Romanov and being unable to sign for Saints. Then he picked up a knock, then Burley dropped him, then Burley decided to play him at LB. I think his partnership with Bale was one of the best aspects of our playoff season. Bale got forward well to support and Skacel tracked back and covered him when he did. I remember one game, at home to Sunderland when Belmadi played on the left in front of Bale. The pair of them got Mullered. Went to Staplewood once to watch the squad train, back in the Poortaloo days. Met Rudi briefly, seem a very friendly and approachable chap. Good luck to him.
  2. This is the internet. I'd say it's more than likely.
  3. Nothing is too random to be made up. You just need a certain level of boredom. That's how we ended up with threads about Carsten Janker and Jan Koller. Funny, but completely made up.
  4. Nobody buys players for the League Cup. He wont play, but that's mainly because he has burned his bridges with most of the higher order.
  5. If we're going to sign a Belarus international, I'd rather it was Igor Sh*tov so I can get his name printed on a shirt.
  6. I make that three seasons in a row we've had a ride on the magic roundabout in the first month. Back to the Merlin?
  7. Well, I've already been to Swindon twice, seen us get beaten and be completely sh*t on both occasions and I live 5 minutes from Ashton gate. Guess that was always going to happen Anyway, £12.90 return on the train if I book now and it's only 45 minutes away. Third time lucky!!
  8. Surely a fake, would have to be one heck of a fart to go through a pair of trousers and still project a good foot behind the blokes exhaust.
  9. I also think its ********.
  10. That'll do me. Keep sneaking under the radar, no pressure, no expectations and other assorted cliches. Can't understand why commentators are so afraid of saying the word "Guly" on TV though. I'd jump at the chance. Can't be much fan being a Tractor Boy at the moment. First Norwich d*cked them in their own back yard on their way to promotion. Then Saints go and do the same, then that complete calamity yesterday. Funny for the rest of us, I only wish it was the Skates.
  11. That's the point I was making.
  12. Whatever the offical excuses for the invasion of Poland were, the real reasons were based largely on the greed of Hitler and Stalin and their desire for more territory. I don't know a lot about 1930s politics, but the Poles did bugger all to warrant being invaded. Reasons for disputes with North Korea. Well, there's possible trading and military support for South Korea. A rogue general taking a dislike to a potential disagreement with China. Ecconomic tensions. Take your pick. The USA has managed to fall out with dosens of regimes on the other side of the world, they aren't the only ones capable of doing it. "NATO can handle it without us getting involved." You do know what NATO is right?
  13. How much did Poland meddle with Germany's affairs in the 1930s? Sadly, if someone like Jim Jong-Il ever got hold of some serious weapons, a 'live and let live' philosophy wouldn't cut it. If you're going to take that attitude, you could say that the entire military is useless and save hundreds of billions ever year. As for not meddling in the Middle East, can you please describe your vision of the world without opperation Desert Storm, or if we hadn't invaded Afghanistan? We'd have a mad tyrant controlling 1/4 of the worlds oil reserves and a terrorist summer holiday camp. As for ignoring any potential threats and running crying to the Americans, that's a terrible attitude to national secuirty. For a start we are reliant on America actually giving a sh*t. We could one day end up in a fight which they have no interest in, then what. Secondly, you're assuming that America is capable of policing the world on it's own. In a couple of decades, I reckon the Chinese military will easily match them for strength.
  14. Southampton has Lucy Pinder Liverpool has Kerry Katona Clearly Southampton is superior, although unless your kids are a pair of lezzers, they might not appreciate this fully.
  15. That's a very ignorant view IMO, it's like saying they aren't acting as a deterrent to teenage pregnancy. It was never designed with small scale terroism in mind. Even the biggest terrorist event in living memory, 911 only resulted in the deaths of a few thousand people. Nukes are chips in a MUCH bigger card game. What if relations with China, Russia or Pakistan turn sour, or North Korea or Iran build a functioning warhead? Things might be fine now, but projects like this take decades to put into service. If we wait until there is actually a threat to start building a nuclear deterrent it will be too late. In response to VFTT, I think we do need the "city killers". Otherwise it's not so much of a deterrent. If, God forbid, we ended up in China one day, a few tactical nukes aren't going to keep us safe. If however the Chinese knew we could flatten Shanghai, Beijing and Hong Kong withing a matter of hours, it might stop a conflict from kicking off. That's the paradox here, the countries with the deadliest weapons are the ones least likely to go to war.
  16. Piers Morgan, top left in front of the railing.
  17. Probably a good time to play them. With so many new signings they are a bit hit and miss at the moment, whereas we're on the crest of a wave. I'd imagine in the second half of the season Leicester might be the team to beat. Good to get this fixture out the way now, but will still be our biggest test so far.
  18. Confirmed on BBC the pilot (Flt Lt Jon Egging, 33) was killed in the crash. R.I.P. Very sad. I've loved the Red Arrows for as long as I can remember.
  19. Wouldn't have been if it wasn't for Leibherr. That deal could have been the transfer which wiped Saints off the face of the planet. Don't get me wrong, I'm delighted he has signed a new contract and think he's a fantastic player, but at the time it was a dreadful signing.
  20. Yeah, good luck however you decide to play it. I was lucky enough not to need grades for my chosen career path, but straight A's should get you into most places. If not, you probably need a more active social life (not trying to be funny there).
  21. Would be pointless with his injuries. I'd take Gorkss, but only if he genuinely wanted to be here and didn't hang around like a stale fart because he got kicked out of QPR.
  22. A 2 page thread about Pompey attendances on the main board. Seriously? For such an apparently, 'tin pot nothing club' our fans sure do seem to have a sad obsession with them. Attendances in particular. Yes, on average our crowds are bigger, we get the message. We don't need another f**kin' thread every time they knock another dosen off their personal best.
  23. Can't really say I'm borther about what Brighton fans think. I've nothing against them, I'm just indifferent. It's not exactly a local derby and now we've both got Pompey in the middle to distract us. Most of their fans seem alright, good luck to them.
  24. What, it's a shame he hasn't been sat on his arse for 35 years since he retired from playing football? For me the shame is knowing people like Barton and Rooney will never have to do an honnest day's work in their whole life the way footballers wages have gone recently.
