  1. GK - Davis as good as any at this level. Bart is decent back up, despite some ridiculous, one match, knee jerk reactions. LB - Flooded with decent options RB - FR and Butters both quality at this level. Frazer I think could still play in PL. CB - Jos and Fonte are as good a partnership as any in NpC. Martin and Cork good back up. CM - Chaplow, Morgan, Hammond and Cork. 4 fantastic options in the middle. LM - Lallana obvious. Holmes is decent enough, but I'd like to replace him with a quicker, less injury prone option. Fox, Schteve, Chaplow and Dickson can play here too. That just leaves RM and up front we need to improve.
  2. Certainly looked like we needed a new LB at Bristol a couple of weeks ago. You will not find a better 'keeper than Bart who is willing to come here and sit on the bench for 40 odd league games each season.
  3. I think Bart has looked pretty impressive in most of the games he has played for us. Just had a look at the last 3 years; W14 D2 L4. That's a pretty decent record and it's not all against lower league teams either. There are a lot of CCC games for Barnsley in there. One of the draws was the JPT game with Norwich when he pulled off a world class save to win the shoot out. The defeats were against Man Utd and away games at Leeds, Colchester and Palace. If these were all league games, we'd have 44 points from 20 games, easily promotion for. We really are pretty decent when Bart plays.
  4. I'm curious to see if the people campaigning for a new goalkeeper will be applying their standards equally accross the squad. I'm guessing most of you are basing this on Bart's poor performance against Blackpool. Fox had a similarly poor performance at Bristol, do we also need a new LB?
  5. Except it didn't. The only people who were arrested after the Brighton game (I don't know any of them personally) would have taken it to another level and said something properly homophobic, instead of some silly songs about holding hands and shopping.
  6. Red Star Belgrade
  7. We've got competition in the form of Martin. If Jos or Fonte were to pick up 5 yellows or a red, it's only a 1 match ban in which Martin can deputise and Cork can provide cover in an emergency. We have 2 quality CBs in our team, very capable cover in the form of Martin and Cork, who can do a very good job in defence if needed. If you bring in another, it'd be cover for a scenario whereby Fonte, Jos and Martin are all injured/suspended, on top of Jaidi and Seaborne. Highly unlikely and a waste of money. RE: Jaidi. I don't think he will play for us again. I'm pretty sure his knee injury will prevent him from going somewhere else. I said in summer we needed to be a bit meaner in letting players go and Jaidi was one of them.
  8. I just don't see the need for another CB at the moment. We already have 5 on the books, which is one too many IMO. I know Jaidi and Seaborne have long term injuries, but that's why you have cover when only 2 of them can play. If we sign another we will just have Jaidi, Seaborne, Martin and new matey on the wage bill not doing anything. Maybe that doesn't bother some of you, but when we're paying £3 booking fees all season it's quite annoying for me.
  9. So having some 12 year old pikey pr*ck spitting at you through a metal fence as you walk to the ground is supposed to improve the atmosphere at the ground somehow? I don't really see this link. I know having to go to St Mary's to get on the coach is a pain for a lot of people and the cost is a bit much etc. but I don't see how that stops anyone from singing when they get to the ground. I think the atmosphere was a bit 'Rudi Skacel' if I'm honnest. People have been hyping this game up for about 6 months now, singing 'coming for you' about 20 times every game, talking about revenge for the last trip in '05 etc. etc. It was pretty good and the noise when we scored was deafening, it just didn't live up to the massive billing people have been giving it.
  10. Without being sarcastic do you normally go out drinking at 11am on a Sunday morning or is it that you don't enjoy football unless you've had a few. I'm all in favour of a few pints before/during/after a 3pm KO, but for a 1pm KO? It seems people are getting up early just to go drinking.
  11. Because the strenghts of our strikers mainly involve playing off Lambert. I think the main problem is that the ball just doesn't stick without Rickie. Guly is good at running into spaces and finishing (although only at home) Connolly can finish, but is crap in the air, not very strong, gives it away and is generally a bit overrated. Barnard I thought would do well this season, such as shame about his injury. I'm struggling to think of any games without Lambert we haven't lost. Not including lower league cup ties I can think of 4; Gilligham, Plymouth, Palace and Donny. We've lost all 4.
  12. Aren't these things all to do with club sponsors though? As such a home player always wins it because none of the Pompey fans will care about the ACME Man of the Match award for a Saints player.

    Connolly

I really don't think he was that good before he got injured TBH. After a bright start a lot of games seemed to pass him by.
  14. I've been to several away games this season and I can't remember him looking too good in any of them. Coventry he was alright but otherwise... I don't think Connolly is the answer and Barnard is apparently out for a good while. Need reinforcements.
  15. Hooiveld won everything that came his way. Fonte had a few moments and didn't quite look so good. Hammond, Richardson and Lambert also looked particularly good IMO.
  16. I'd have thought Dune was more Whereas Alpine and Dog
  17. Al Qaeda will never be destroyed. It will always exist in some capacity with pockets of support in isolated places around the world. The problem with Talliban Afghanistan was it was basically a summer holiday camp for wannabe terrorists. Would be Jehadists could get there fairly easily and learn bomb making, marksmanship and a variety of other terrorist skills. Are we safer in the West because we invaded Afghanistan. We will never know, because there is no parallel universe in which to compare the last decade without the invasion of Afghanistan. For all we know we could have prevented the next 911.
  18. A bit early to draw conclusions, but that looks more like an Anders Breivik sytle 'nutter on a rampage' as opposed to organise terrorism. RIP and get well soon to all the innocent civilians involved though. It really is just horrific.
  19. Look, I was bored alright!
  20. The jet stream is a long way South at the moment, over the North Coast of France. It's pretty strong too about 170mph. Normally that means pretty sh*t weather for the UK.
  21. ... skiing. It's brilliant. Anyone else got plans for skiing or boarding this winter? So far the snow has been a bit slow in coming and they had to move the down hill world championships to Beaver Creek in USA because there wasn't enough snow in Val D'Isere. There's been a good dump this last week though and more forecast, with up to 2ft falling on the Alps on Friday. Val D'Isere and Tignes are generally pretty good. A good variety of runs and high up, so the snow is pretty decent. Les Gets/Morzine/Avoriaz has a massive ski area and is only an hour from Geneva Airport. There is also Austria with its superior night life. What are your plans and recommendations?
  22. Bus 12 from the stadium. Going to get the back seat so I can wave my plums at hypo.
  23. And will be 37 by the time Bolton potential go down and we potential go up. Seems a pretty silly knee jerk reaction to yesterday IMO.
  24. Well it's after midnight, so at least Bart wont have his 'Fail of the Day' award snatched from him.
  25. Don't forget Adam Lallana.
