Palace - Falconry (Is it still called falconry with an eagle? Eaglery? Is that a word?) Coventry - Hovercraft Saints - Some random kids trying to hit the cross bar I know a lot of people don't give 2 sh*ts about HT entertainment as they're too busy having a pint and a slash, but surely we can come up with something a bit more imaginative.

I went to the games against Swindon and Palace. In both of them we were pretty inept up front and the ball just didn't stick. Luckily we are seldom without Lambert when it matters. The only other instances I can remember are Plymouth at home last year (beat us 1-0 on the way to relegation) and Gillingham away 2 seasons ago (beat us 2-1 on the way to relegation). Not good.
-
This was BEFORE De Ridder's goal when they all went home.
-
Not without a fairly big centre forward they aren't. Take Ricky out this team and we've really got an issue. Guly and DC can't hold the ball up to save their lives. Guly's first touch is poor and DC is a midget. Lamberts hold up play and target size are far more important to our success than his goals.

Wasn't great was it. I actually thought the guys to our right under the score board tried to make a decent fist of it. Problem was they were so few, so spread out and in a soulless ground watching a really sh*t team. They just seemed to give up (appart from the 7 minutes between Platt and Guly's goals). In the 5 minutes following De Ridder's goal, most of them flooded for the exits. By the time we were into injury time, I'd say Saints genuinely out numbered Coventry. What an awful club to be a fan of, I just couldn't do it.

No real need to rotate the squad after a 2 week break, so I'd go with the same 11 as today. Barnard should be fit and hopefully Lallana will have his mojo back. Coconut to the best "keep up" chant. I'll bet Brompey fans are already reading this going "what a sad obsessed bunch of c**ts" on NSC. For some reason I can see us drawing this and having to put up with endless gloating about losing our winning run.

We need pace. Forte out, someone in who is much much better. Hooiveld on a perm. About it really. Still wouldn't say no to Beats if the deal was right.

Just back from the game too. Christ on a bike we're not making this easy for ourselves are we. Still, can't complain. Apart from the 25 minutes between half time and their second goal we were awesome and took them to pieces. At half time they showed the highlights on the big screen and litterally all of them were Saints. Coventry didn't have a sniff, other than 2 long range efforts which were as close to the corner flag as Kelvins left post. At 2-2 I was certain there were more goals to come. Coventry were just far too bad defensively, it was all about whether Saints would collapse or wake up and kill them off. Happily, this team is made of strong stuff and it was the latter. Not sure why we wobbled so badly. We came out after the break and just didn't turn up for the first 5 minutes. They could have had 3. After that we were just second to everything and didn't seem to challenge for any 50/50s. Odd and very frustrating to watch after a brilliant first half. Morgan was excellent. Guly took his goal well and looked pretty useful, but he was a bit lazy at times. Hooiveld was also excellent and won everything in the air. Both full backs supported well. Thought Fonte looked a bit shaky at times and Cork was a bit hit and miss. Neither of them was what I'd call bad though. Lallana still nowhere near his best, but took his goal well. De Ridder was class when he came on and that goal was an excellent opportunistic poach. Thought he should have gone on earlier at 2-1. Can we drop the "Steeeeeve chant is punting him off his game" line now please. Clearly isn't effecting him.

Niemi triple save vs Arsenal. Kelvin penalty save vs Brighton.
-
Yes but I wouldn't need to be a smurf.

Connolly did little else of note in the 'Boro game and the goal was all about the build up. I wouldn't go so far as to call it a tap in, but it shouldn't justify his inclusion in the team by itself. Barnard may not have done much in an U-21 game midweek, but then that was (apparently) a very poor team. If he is fit, he is the better option to DC I think.
-
Why? Barnard for me every time, even if he is only fit for 30 mins.
-
You've nearly got it: Cork Cork wherever you may be You left Chelsea for Saints FC You don't give a f**k about Ashley Shoving his mobile up John Terry. Also: Na na na na Na na na na Hey hey hey Steve De Ridder (To the tune of hey hey goodbye, by Bananarama)
-
I think we should bring back Jan Portability.
-
Would prefer to see him at least on the bench at Coventry. DC isn't doing it at the moment and I've been a bit disappointed with his contribution for a few games now. Didn't really influence the game when he came on last night. Barnard would be my first choice along side Lambert when fit, although I suspect there will be a fair few sub appearances before then. How long has he been injured? Since March or April I think.
-
Someone started singing "Na na na ne hey hey hey Steve De Ridder" to the tune of that Bananarama song (He Hey Goodbye). Didn't really catch on, although it sounded alright.

How on Earth is shouting "Steeeeeve" embarassing? Daft yes, but I can't imagine too many Posh fans going home and saying, "what a bunch of f**king mongs, they were shouting 'Steeeeeve' at a player called Steve." I think some fans have a massively inflated sense of their own importantance at matches. You go to a match, sing a bunch of songs (most of which are pointless anyway) you leave and you go home. That's it. I think some people are under the impression that the whole football supporting 'community' got up this morning and started talking about what Saints fans in block 42 were singing last night. NOBODY CARES. If you want an embarassing song, try this one for size:

Just one Cornetto...
-
Which chant have you come up with that's so much better?

Good job we didn't have Dan seaborne, Dan Butterfield and Dan Harding all on the pitch. It would have been like an episode of I'm Alan Partridge. I thought it was a good laugh to be honest. A bit random and a bit different. Don't really how people can say it was stupid and embarrassing. It was a laugh for 15 minutes after half time. To me embarrassing is sitting there in stone dead silence like the Posh fans.

Let's have your suggestions. There are a lot of incredibly valid candidates IMO, will be hard to pick a winner. Poll please mods. My top 3. 1. Chaplow - Just never stops running and seems to drive the midfield. One moment which summed him up for me was running half the pitch against 'Boro, giving the ball away, winning it back immediately and crossing for Fonte. We've always got a chance to create something with him in the side. 2. Lambert - His goals and assists make everything happen up front. The best of the pick were his goal at Derby and his assist for DC against Boro. I go to bed at night in a cold sweat, dreading the day he gets injured. 3. Hooiveld - Arguably our first choice CB, even ahead of Fonte. Does everything Jaidi did last season in the air, but is so much more mobile and composed on the ball. Sign him up Nic/Nige. What's great is that we have a centre half, centre midfielder and centre forward all performing brilliantly. It's an excellent spine for a team and you could even add Davis and Bart to the list of good performers this season. Difficult picking just 3 players though, we have quality all over the park.
-
We should be beating Posh at home. Not saying we will, but we should. Same with Brighton, who have been gash for 7 or 8 games now. Blackpool are very inconsistent and I'd fancy us at home (lost 4-0 at Wham a couple of weeks back). We should really beat Palace at home too. All hypothetical of course. We will probably win 3-0 at Upton Park, then go and lose at home to Barnsley.
-
Winning 55-46 and we bring on Connolly to replace Harding. Sounds like one heck of a game to me.
-
Have you actually seen Bart play in the last 3 years? He has looked perfectly capable every time I've seen him play. Easily as good as Davis IMO, but with differening strengths and weakness'. His main weakness used to be his kicking, but that has improved a lot this season. Until Davis retires, we're sorted between the sticks IMO.
