Hypothetic scenario, what do we do with a crazy offer for Rickie Lambert?
Lighthouse replied to Colinjb's topic in The Saints
A settled squad is one thing, but offering £10m for a player just turning 30 is absurb money. As romantic an idea as it is to think we don't need the money and we aren't a selling club, it's just not true. If someone comes with a ridiculous bid like that, I'd take it. Decent England internationals have been sold for less than that. -

£10m for 30 year old Rickie Lambert? You'd be MENTAL to bid that kind of money and we'd be just as mental to turn it down. Yes Lambert is vital to our success, but for £10m we could get 3 Maynards, Lutceiwicz, Sharps etc. who are about 5 years younger. -

Why? They are looking likely candidates for relegation, whereas we are top of the Championship. Ambitious maybe, but realistic. -

From that lot I wouldn't mind Hoillet, Klasnic or Rodallega. Trouble is all three are stuck in relegation battles and I doubt their parent clubs would be willing to let them go in January. -
Bart Sordell - Maynard - Jutceiwicz - Beattie Sharp - Tandoori - Owen - Benjani Rhodes - Vokes COYR!!!

Still 25 minutes left. Come on Saints!!!! Boro are getting d*cked. Somehow we will still be top after all this.

Alan Bennett scores for Cheltenham. Dyer and Skacel have also scored and Crouch has a brace. Any other ex Saints scoring?

What if we applied for it a few days or weeks ago.

I suggest you get a life and release your stress by beating up a spouse or small animal.

Christ alive are you lot still arguing with alpine? He's just a stupid retard who get's a kick out of posting his pessimistic drivel and hoping people bite. People YOU CAN'T WIN. Just put him on your ignore list and stop quoting/responding to him. It's that simple.

So you're having a go at people for something NOBODY has said. I'd be annoyed at Matt Le Tiss if he missed an open goal in the 6 yard box. Only one clueless mong here.

2-0 to Cardiff. Bummer.

I was on the train with a bunch of them when they came over to St Mary's a couple of months back. They all started singing "Championes! Ole Ole Ole" which is a f**king irritating tune at the best of times, but we were top of the League and they were about 8th.

Really? What's Seaborne like then? Is he in to golf? Does he like green vegtables? What's his favourite Westlife album? Just curious.

Nope. 3 goals last season, 1 the year before.

As wrong as I'd like to be, I can't see him being anything other than 5 yards off the pace if he played for us again.

Deserved but didn't get, you could say the same about Pompey. I don't think Connolly is the difference here. We dropped a lot of points away from home before he got injured as well as after.

Parts of 1 and 3 I'd say. -We miss an in form Lallana undoubtedly, although I wouldn't say he is the be all and end all of our problems. -We put in some very shabby performances at Derby, Burnley, Cardiff, Leicester and Reading before Connolly got injured, so it's not that. - The fixture lists are taking their toll, but they take their toll on everyone, hence we're still top of the League. I think it's a combination of injuries effecting Lallana and Chaplow, plus the fact that we had momentum at the start of the season. We had a winning mentality from League 1 as a lot of promoted teams do. Brighton had it, but theirs wore off a lot sooner than ours did. The true test will be the second half of the season. Which players can we attract in January, how well will they integrate and will we have enough to stay on top.
