  1. Honestly can't see premier league doing anything unless we have some evidence more substantial than newspaper headlines. That said its good to see Saints showing some mettle, just hope its more than crying wolf for effect.
  2. With 3 big clubs at least supposedly after him i'd be very curious to understand why we'd settle for anything around the starting price of £50 million mark when there should clearly be scope to use them against eachother to drive the price up unless there's a limiting factor in his contract.
  3. Given we#ve got the 8th highest wages, getting the 8th highest money is pretty much what we need to be doing at minimum.
  4. Fantastic news. That's what I've been hoping to see for some time.
  5. Felt Monk was incredibly harshly treated by Swansea. Wouldn't be opposed if he ended up here. More potential imo than some of the names being linked.
  6. To me its the points ratio matters a lot. So i'll accept duller football if it results in wins. If it results in us only getting 46 points regardless of fluking a high league position because of everyone else's equal ineptidude then i won't be happy. Equally losing most games 4-3 won't likely leave me happy even if it is entertaining.
  7. I do very much hope Black goes.
  8. This has bemused me all season. We sold our only real natural striker with presence in that regard(pelle) and yet all we seemed to want to do was slowly work the ball out wide and cross it into players unsuited to win headers in the middle, even when we did get sufficient numbers into the box. While the lack of a target man is a problem, i'm not overly a fan of the approach either. Gallagher did well on loan at blackburn. Not sure if he might provide some presence option off the bench next season.
  9. I'd love someone like Bielsa but i believe he's already been snapped up. I'd very much want someone who would reinstate the higher tempo pressing game. So far the names being linked Silva, Ranieri etc don't exactly thrill me.
  10. Well that was a horrible season. Amazing to finish 8th, shows how bad the premier league has been this season. Changes over the summer needed to get us back on track
  11. 1) Rodriguez ( hasn't looked anything like the same player as he was before the injury.) 2) Austin (I just don't think he is at all suited to a side that plays one up front.) Long. I liked Long & i'd keep him. The stuff he does for the team is excellent. His goal tally last season was excellent. This season in front of goal's been a disaster but don't see him doing it twice in a row. I'd keep Gallagher. He's a different option and has done well on loan. Deserves a chance to see if he can cut it. Obviously keep Gabbi.
  12. I'd be disappointed if we don't give him a chance next season. Just like Stephens he has done well on loan and deserves a season to prove that he can cut it at premier league level. Also feel he would give us a different option upfront.
  13. Honestly not a massive fan of Ranieri. I'd prefer to go for a younger up and coming manager even if we lose him after a couple of years.
  14. Spells of bright play marred by complete cluelessness around the box. First goal was nice by Sanchez but if centre backs had of worked as a team it could have been shut out. 2nd was just awful. Thought the 3 in midfield were quite bright today. Gabby looked very off the boil. Can't quite understand our utter desperateness to work the ball out wide given how poor we are at getting on the end of anything. 3 corners, spoiled by twice not attacking the back post and once not having anyone on cech when he spilled. Got to say i'm fast running out of patience with Puel. Time for someone new and hopefully some good summer signings to add some directness to our play. Commentary really annoyed me, saying Saints fan would be happy losing to Arsenal and what a good season it is to lose as many as you win.
  15. Decent first half. Thought for a period in the middle we were sitting too much but then we came on much stronger towards the end. They look a threat down our left though. annoyance is JWP put in 2 beautiful corners and both times no one gambled at the back stick either time. Gabbi you think would have scored his chance when his confidence was up during his early run.
  16. Starting to look very composed. A definite positive from this lacklustre season. Next season ideally we'll have one of him and yoshida alongside van dijk or his replacement, which should hopefully offer a better physical balance.
  17. Fantastic gritty display by Saints. Much happier than i've been about any of the last 3 performances. I can see why the stephens one was given as a penalty but loved the attitude of Saints especially forster doing everything to intimidate milner, who did exactly what tadic did last week(not close enough to the corner) which gives keeper a chance to make a very smart save. Don't get the logic of people who would prefer to see Saints hammered in exchange for having some shots. I want to see Saints pick up points first and foremost and away to a top 4/5 team that's how you get a result. If our counter attacking had of been slightly better would have been ideal.(Tadic flick to long etc).
  18. Much better half from Saints. Very well organised display, though i think we are at times sitting a bit too deep and not pressing up on their midfield till a bit late imo. Still not sure this is a game suited to Boufal. Think Redmond's pace would be a better option.
  19. Ill be content with a new manager who can win games.
  20. Gazzaniga, martina, gardos, Jrod, austin, isgrove, caceres, taylor get rid of black, definitely leaning towards getting rid of puel too. Reed maybe needs to go as he's already 22 and has barely broken through. I'd keep long. Was very good last season & still does a lot for the team despite his horrendous goalscoring record this season. I'd keep Clasie & play him but there's no chance he's staying given lack of football puel is giving him.
  21. Starting line up looked completely unbalanced. Worryingly Puel clearly didn't agree as his subs were to reinforce that set up. Not sure what Clasie did to get the cold shoulder. Scoring a goal and playing well a sin to puel. Is the coach behind our inability to put pressure on the opposition or is the team so lazy/disorganised that they can't do it effectively. Lost count of the number of times Hull would get the ball one of our plyers would close him down but the rest of the team wouldn't back him up and let him have an easy out. Hate how no one seems to want to take responsibility. The amount of hospital passes or negative passes backwards rather than trying to take the ball and drive is crazy at the moment Boufal, seems to be one of those kids who takes pride of beating his man 3/4 times rather than in scoring/assisting goals. Tadic, why have we got a penalty taker who can't place it in a corner? It was a good save by their keeper but if the ball had of been placed in the corner he wouldn't have saved it. Maybe we've been spoiled by Lambert/Le Tiss but it's really annoying to have a sub-standard penalty taker. I'm guessing cedric wants out based on the fact he completely bottled out of that challenge in the 2nd half. Positives, I thought Stephens was very good today. We didn't lose to hull twice this season!!
  22. Truly embarassing watching how disorganised/lazy Saints are. When Hull get the ball we just give them nice easy options because we refuse to provide concerted pressure.
  23. Being bossed at home by Hull, ohh how wonderful. Changes at half time needed.
  24. Would really like to see some clinicalness from Saints, by putting hull comfortably to the sword. If we can't beat Hull at home you'd really have to wonder how poor our final league position will end up being.
  25. Starting to get rather fed up of Puel, the positives such as the opportunities given to youngsters are being overweighed by his sheer tactical ineptitude. The set up yesterday was only ever going to lead to one outcome and that was defeat. I couldn't care less about how gallant we were in defeat, what i want is a manager who has a plan to get results against the top teams & not one who expresses how satisfied he is at getting beaten. Amazed it took them so long to sub Boufal too, he appeared to be a complete passenger for quite a time before he finally demanded they sub him. A league cup run doesn't mask how desperately poor we've been in the league as far as i'm concerned. Very worried some of our better players are going to be looking at the current set up and thinking it is going nowhere fast.
