Beautiful assist for long though...

Not a very convincing win in the end. But played well in the first half. I thought the fans were superb, so hats off to those who went!
-
Totally missing the point to be honest. We sold lovren - so got Toby, lost him so got VVD. Lallana was directly replaced by Tadic. Shaw to Bertrand Clyne to Cedric Lambert to pelle Etc etc What we have been doing recently is not replacing players with ones of similar attributes or play styles, and therefore totally weakening the team and disrupting the style. We've done this seemingly because the players are young and it's assumed they will develop and then the club will profit. Sadly neither Gabbi or long are target men, Redmond is a poor shadow of mane. As is Boufal. We have totally crippled our attacking style and quality. Surprise surprise we now can't score goals. They're not bad players, but an effective team playing 4321 they do not make! And since it is decreed that we will play a certain way our squad is not good enough! At least the new man is kind of a target man, but again he isn't going to be a star man for us, and he isn't exactly what we need. We have £60m and a whole load of VVD's wages... go buy a quality CF and a proper winger / attacking mid.... two players who are better than what we have for an average of £30m a pop isn't that hard to do...

Well, for example, fosun looks to be significantly better than carillo. Saints don't need fillers, they need 1-2 star players. We have none this year. We have the money, so spend it wisely. It needs to be a player who is significantly better than all our other strikers and will always be first choice on the teemsheet.

Bunsen and buster at the helm.

I honestly think Kat wanted the maximum return on her investment. So she rode Nicola all the way to top, kicked him off, and instigated a "take cash out" policy. Whereby we were on a sound, no risk, approach which banked a profit (from tv/sales/commercial), and helped her get her returns through the sale to Gao. She had no interest in putting money in on the risk we would make it to an established top 6 side. The problem is, in this league, you either push on, or sit still (or do a full sunderland). And sitting still leads to relegation.

You have google? So unless you are too lazy to use wikipedia I don't understand what point you are trying to make? In the two seasons proceeding his move to Saints, Pelle score 27 in 29 appearances, and then 23 in 28 appearances. That is already more than the linked player has netted in his entire career. This chap is not what we need to be wasting our money on... If we sign him the fanbase will be pulling their hair out more than they are already.
-
As an absolute minimum this needs to happen. We have a knackered Austin, an out of form and disinterested Gabbi, and a 1goal all season Long as our strikers. Why on earth are we not playing a very promising young striker whose attributes are exactly what we are missing.
-
There isn't a good finish in that video. They are all tap ins bar one header at a corner, and he is unmarked by appalling defending in nearly every goal. Also, does he only live inside the 6yard box? Saints need a target man who can bully defenders, hold the ball up well, link play, and finish half chances. This fellow doesn't appear to excel at the above. I hope I'm wrong, but a 0.17 goals per game ratio playing for one of the best clubs in a weak french top division does not fill me with much confidence!! I think Les and co need to realise that we don't need more squad fillers, what we need is some star players. They have £60m to spend and a huge chunk of wage budget from VVD.... GO SPEND IT ON TWO PLAYERS MAX FFS. Not 4No. £15M signings.

This possibly the most hopeful snippet of insight yet! Its that or we're screwed though:lol:.
-
I will wait patiently for the Reedist cult on here to defend yet another black mark against him.
-
Given Koeman had a massive falling out with Les Reed and was pushed out of the club. Do you really think he'll now come and work for Les Reed to save his backside? All the while giving up his payout from Everton for a £7m a year contract... I am doubtful on that front.
-
The writing was on the wall the second Cortese, Poch, and ambition left the club. Most saints fan's were happy to lap up the PR crap spewed by Les and Co (those who weren't were ignored / ridiculed) by the rest. The simple fact is, we were an investment she wanted sold, and in the meantime we were to get her as much money as possible. The fans should be chanting for Les Reed, RK out from now until it happens. They should have done this when Lambert, Lallana, Lovren, Chambers, Shaw etc were all sold after the lies that summer. Guan is right, our fans are not vocal enough.
-
Its dreadful to even think it. But some posters have said it already. Gao has a very large loan to service, and that's where the VVD money may be heading... Hopefully not though.
-
The way we are playing at the moment, I wouldn't feel confident predicting a single win. We are in free fall.
-
Here is a serious question for you. Do you think our players have relegation clauses in their contracts?
-
Guan you appear to know some stuff from behind the scenes right now because you are vehemently anti manager/board atm. Is that the case and are you able to share any of it with the fans? I feel like we've been kept treading water for a few years, and banking monies to pay off Kat and get us purchased. Also that our investor is really nothing but bad news sadly.
-
Needs to go. Sadly i think we are rotten from the top and that probably includes Gao.
-
It is hard to defend the manager in any way shape or form tonight (and I have been against sacking him). Did the wind suit the long ball team with nothing but pace/power players? Even so, there was no passion from our players second half. We got 1-0 up and then we sat deep and took no risks... We basically invited a team of long ball merchents to hoof it into our box and shoot from range. What the hell did we think would happen with the wind blowing towards our goal. Also, palace were on top and we waited and waited to change things. Then when we did, we bypassed our midfield and hoofed it with players that are ill equipped for that style of play. There can be no excuse from the manager (or the players) for that second half in a must not lose game! But when all is said and done. The squad is simply terrible. And it is no surprise where we are. We used to have Forster, Bertrand, Cedric, Toby, VVD, Fonte, Morgan, Wanyama, Davis, Mane, Tadic, Pelle. We have lost everyone in bold, and despite apparently making loads of money from tv revenues, sales, sponsorship etc etc etc... we have replaced every single one of them with a player who is no better and is often worse. That can only be the fault of this board. They fell out with Poch, they fell out with Koeman, they ripped up both their squads, hired puel, hired mopey... They are responsible for all of this and the club is in freefall.
-
I posted this would happen the summer we sold all our players (the first summer)... Was the inevitable end to the story. And now we get to hear all the pundits crowing until the end of the season saying "told ya so"...
-
So.... The saints are going down, with no money in the tank? No money in the tank? No money in the tank...
-
Our course was set the second Cortese went and Les Reed got in control. No ambition, no drive. Just sell of the jewels, bank most of the clubs income and find Kat a buyer whilst we trod water. Its a disgrace.
-
I hope you include this board in that statement.
-
People want to blame the manager, but this lot took a top 6 team that just missed champions league football - and created this in 12-18 months. And didn't get fired... WTF.
-
Les and the board are just as much at fault for this mess.
