  1. That was, of course, a very tongue in cheek response. I do agree with Mikey though, I love being able to wander around and take in things you just wouldn't come across anywhere else. It really is what makes Glasto so special.
  2. Arcade Fire self confirmed
  3. Love the Bragg-man, even if I don't always agree with him - I love his passion. Saw him at a charity gig a friend put on a few years ago, he played at like 1pm to about 5 people. Was odd, but he was an absolute gent and stopped and had a chat with us. Out of interest, what did your mate do to get kicked out?
  4. Uff it's been another good year I think. Let me have a think and get back to you shortly
  5. Seeing as there has been a bit of chat about Dev recently, thought people might be interested - and didn't want to hijack the other thread. http://mamacolive.com/thefly/news/article/1022574/dev-hynes-lost-everything-in-house-fire/ Obviously really sad no matter who it happens to, though not entirely sure on the whole fundraising thing.
  6. Granted it was probably less, but probably not by as much as you would think. It's easy to look at the sums now, compared to then. But the figures in football from 10 years ago are massively inflated. As a % of revenue, I'd imagine the expenditure at present is not as much higher as you may immediately think. There also wasn't the same number of high spending clubs backed by wealthy owners there are now. Top flight football is a different beast than it was 10 years ago.
  7. Teachers: "You expect us to do marking?!?!? :hunt: "
  8. There's a few small differences, I had play out from the back, short passing and work ball into the box set on mine. Maybe that's the difference. It was odd, I was quite Saints like at the start - loads of possesion, tight defence but just not enough goals. Then all of a sudden the defence went completely to pot - oddly enough, when my best player Cresswell (lb) came back from injury. In pre-season of 2nd season now. Had Cresswell & Hyam (my 2 best players) sold from beneath me for a combined £12m. Going to do a rebuild job me thinks, shipped out some of the older, over-paid deadwood. Yes you McGoldrick. Hoping I can unearth me some gems.
  9. As is true for most international keepers. This is a point that seems to be lost on certain posters that have suddenly started frothing at the mouth with incredulity that we do not have 2 international class goalkeepers.
  10. It was something that was suggested to me after I graduated and struggled to find a job/work out what I wanted to do. Was never really an option though, I would have been awful and dragged down the profession as a whole. As I said, they (the vast majority anyway) do a great job, and I certainly couldn't do it. But, please just stop moaning about marking!
  11. I don't think that is entirely fair. There are plenty who set out to go into teaching, and plenty of those are exceptionally good teachers.
  12. It's not as if he is a massive target man, or a bruising defenders. His game is all about having the ball at his feet. For him to be good at what he does, he needs to be good with the ball at his feet.
  13. I'm not saying teachers do not work hard, not for one minute, as they clearly do work very hard and it is a very stressful job. I do have a problem with teachers, obviously not all, but a lot that I personally have come across - that constantly moan about marking and planning. Guess what, it's part of your job as a teacher. Surely you knew about this when you started. I have a lot of respect for teachers, they do an invaluable job, and it's certainly one I could not do. But the behaviour of a lot of teachers (again, my experience, I'm sure not ALL are like this) if anyone dares suggest that actually there are much worse off people than them is pathetic. Yes, they work hard, long hours (by this, longer than the 9-3 some ignorant people may think) but this still only puts them on a par with many other people. And they may have to work into their 'holidays' - i.e. still more time off than most people get off. But, for all the hardships they complain about, every teacher I know that is my age earns a lot more than I do (in the private sector) and more than most other qualified people in the public sector (doctors and dentists obvious exceptions). Teaching also has aa pretty good career progression path in place for those that want that. And with the govt's ring-fencing of Education fencing, they have faced a lot less uncertainty than many of their less fortunate public sector colleagues. Basically, I find myself often disliking teachers more now than when I was at school. Just a little heads up, you don't have a monopoly on long hours, low pay and crap conditions.
  14. Oh lord. Don't tell a teacher that they have more holidays than most.
  15. Lol, people that deny stats are hilarious. Yes, they don't tell the whole story. But, you can still glean a lot from them. And, managers, coaches and chairman do indeed put a lot of stock in them when analysing their own players and potential transfer targets. It's not an "FM Generation" (LMAO) thing, it's simply improved coverage and technology being able to track these things better.
  16. Not surprising really. Not that fussed about him if I am honest. Too expensive, and not convinced he actually offers an upgrade on Boruc. Clearly a money grabber in going to QPR, then prioritising wages over getting off a Championship bench in the run up to a home World Cup. No thanks, don't want him near the club. By the time he signs Boruc would only be out a few more games, what's the point?
  17. Looks pretty similar to mine. As I said above, I had this with my Ipswich team. Start off great, hammering teams left right and centre (well stats wise anyway - lacked a clinical striker), but all of a sudden it just stopped working. I panicked and started trying all sorts.
  18. Set pieces and passing require technique. Also, his technique is actually one of his better attributes.
  19. Why did Hiddink and Capello both take the Russian job, and in Hiddinks case the Anzi job if not for money? They are both great managers, th nothing left to prove, so may as well follow the pay check. Anyway Guus is taking over Holland next summer, so that's him out.
  20. Proof, if ever it was needed, that xenophobes are stupid, ignorant and gullible.
  21. Beyonce or Solange? Can't agree with you on Arctics Mikey, Humbug, for me is their best. By quite a distance I think. Also think Funeral is a better debut too. So nerrrr (look how growed up I am).
  22. Only one I can think of is Given to City.
  23. This pop phase of mine shows no sign of fading as yet. I'm pretty sure I have posted about Mø before, usually a bit dancier than this. This original is brilliant, but literally cannot stop watching this stripped back version on repeat. Just love this lady. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rk28icuT5EQ
