  1. That's not restricted to Arsenal. didn't West Ham have people like Kieron Dyer on £80k p/w the season they got relegated?

  3. I'd personally plump for Baines over Cole at present. But it has to be said, whatever you think of him as a person he would surely be amongst the best Left Backs on the planet over the past 10 years. He was so bloody good for a very long time.
  4. It is big no doubt about that. But is it really on a par with the City's, Chelsea's, Utd's who they regularly compete with? Even Spurs & Liverpool?
  5. I think he's class. Does go to show it isn't all about money. Call me a shallow, sky-era plastic but hey, I'd happily take what they have done since he has been there. Proves the point that it is not what you spend, it's how you spend it. I said elsewhere, until this summer their transfer record was £15m on Arshavin, in 2009 - Newcastle spent this on Shearer in 1996! Sign the right players, bring through young players - even if you end up selling them, there is a good chance it will be at a profit. Also, there is taking the long term view. Ok, they were in a position where they could afford to bleed youngsters to start with. But, it shows what not chopping and changing your manager and team every 5 minutes can do. Not that that will make any sense to the planks that want 18 new signings every window.
  6. It's a great name though.
  7. It's bloody Morrissey again isn't it? I think that's Wilde. Cemetery Gates? "Keats & Yeats are on your side, while Wilde is on mine"?
  8. Is it keats? Can't make a connection.
  9. Crap, I'm beaten.
  10. I can't really comment on FF, I've seen next to nothing on him. I wonder how wise it would be to do now? It may work, and I'm certainly not writing FF off, but it may also be a McClaren moment - slinging in Scott Carson at the deep end in the crucial game against Croatia. Something to think about at least. I think Hart could maybe do with being dropped. He hasn't been challenged in the slightest for a few years now, at club or national level. Should City maybe have a word with Eric Steele? He did a great job on De Gea, who clearly had great ability, but understandly struggled with the pressure and attention when first moving to Utd. He looked a bit lost at times. Now, he looks a fantastic keeper. Utd could well be set for the next 10-15 years with him.
  11. Obviously, he is a very good goalkeeper, I'm not saying he isn't. But seriously, what is going on with him at the moment? So many horror shows. He looks utterly bereft of any confidence - which I also thought of as one of his strongest assets. Bizarre seeing him just crumble of late. Hope he pulls it back together for England - if Rickie is in the squad, I'd quite like us to do well.
  12. Morrissey again! I'm the fu©k!ng king of this game
  13. Oooh! Oooh! I know this one! It's Morrissey!
  14. That thread shows I am a visionary. My opinion should be respected much more round here.
  15. It's worth looking at seeing someone that knows what they are talking about. I knackered my Achilles in my teens. Pretty nasty injury for a wannabe footballer (I was never remotely near good enough anyway) and cross-country runner (was better at this, still not exactly great though). After several reoccurences of the initial injury, I started to get shin splints, knee trouble and hip troubles regularly. Basically, I had started running like an idiot to try and protect my achilles - hence causing an injury.
  16. To be fair, I'm not 100% sure that's a position we are crying out for either! Just thought I recognised the name from this thread is all. Goals from midfield are always useful!
  17. Is he a CM? I thought he was more AM/Winger type player.
  18. Sounds much more of a Bearsy tactic to me. I also like Shakespeare, especially when you go to see it at the theatre, and Sheridan Smith is in it, basically wearing pyjamas and bouncing around a lot. She's got good 'bounce' yo!
  19. Ah, you really are a Shakesbeare. King Lear?
  20. Didn't have you down as a Shakespeare kind of bear
  21. First things first, I am not saying we are as good as, or even remotely comparable in terms of quality - before Mr. Sarcasm comes along and tries to say the whole forum thinks this. But this is the same tactic used by Del Bosque with Spain. Some people find it boring, I quite like it. Simply put, if you have the ball the other team cannot score.
  22. http://www.dailystar.co.uk/sport/football/342220/Fulham-Norwich-and-West-Ham-target-Jiloan-Hamad-wants-Premier-League-move Saw this on the BBC gossip bit. Says 4 prem clubs are in, then only lists Fulham, Norwich & WHU - could we be the 4th?
  23. There is certainly a difference between playing long balls, and the 'Hoofball' associated with Big Sam/Tony Pulis. For example, this is a long ball, but I wouldn't class it in the same category seen by those above, ironically it is against Big Sam's WHU: [video=youtube;DPf-lrsAId0]
